Well unless people cheese out the current rule of Fort before Terrain.

As well couldn't they just conga line around some BLOS so they can still psychic shoot while the herald is safe?

The best bet is a vindicare with icarius lascanon.
You shoot with the icarius (S9) and can thus OS the herald and he cannot LOS.
He only has a 4++ so about half a chance of killing him directly

Between the storm and the vindicare, GK are one of the best bet against screamerstar

but the Lascannon is hard to move, so all the daemon player needs to do is keep the important helrald out of line of sight.

I like the rune priests or the Storm Raven better.

By out of line of sight do you mean on the other side of the board from the assassin? I'm fine with the screamer star hiding from the vindicare. Intelligent deployment dictates that you don't set up a firebase with LOS blocking terrain right in front of it. Unless I'm missing something, Chaos doesn't exactly have an abundance of quality AP fire. Deploying in the open would have few repercussions against daemons.

not the screamer star, but the model with the grimgore. The vindi can chose allocation, but he cannot allocate to models he does not have LOS to. So the IC with the grimgore is the only one who needs to be behind something and it can be a small something.

yes, have all of the screamer star out in the open except for the guy with the grimgore. Put him behind a barrel or something. The vindi cannot move to get around to get LOS and he cannot allocate to models he does not have LOS to.

Screamerstar is a pita when you support it and that is the problem. Generally you will have two DPs and at least one unit of seekers or hounds to back them up. That is where the difficulty arises when seeking to tar pit them. I play the screamer star with a herald and 13 seekers ... they are on you turn two. I also have Fatey and a DP. I don't need to get you with the star if you go after it. I can hide, and I cast powers on my seekers or DP instead. The assumption is the heralds will always cast powers on the screamers. But that is not always the case. Good lists have threat saturation to bypass any attempts to tar pit your star. You can let it sit back a turn comfortably in terrain and still have units on the table that are hurting the opponent and benefiting from the herald's psychic buffs.

Not really, due to them usually having a 4+ DtW and Misfortune not being something you can be assured of.

It is if you can get it. Just keep in mind that those Heralds are almost always Level 3 psykers.

With Tigurius it's something like an 80% chance.

Where does the 4+ DTW come from? If tiggy's casting it it's 5+.
