Only the models the vehicle would end on are allowed to move. If you only land on part of the unit, those models must move, but must also maintain coherency with the models that aren't moving. That usually removes popping out the back of the tank as an option, as it would be too far to maintain coherency.

Sure, but it is really tough to position a tank correctly for this to happen.

Not as difficult as you might think. If they've spread out in a conga line, tank shock the middle. You may only get one or two models, but it's going to be difficult to re-build coherency around a tank with only two models so those two get squished. If you want to kill more models, doing it with a tank alone is going to be tough, but the suggestion was to encircle the target unit with your own models which makes it a lot easier.

Most of the epic tank shocks in previous editions involved fast skimmer tanks. Nowadays, only the Dark Eldar with Shock Prows and Aether Sails can tank shock more than 12". It really limits the resulting havoc.

Of what i can make of this rule is that it doesn't specify if the Tanked unit ust move only 3" or its normal movement value.

Meaning that outside when a model attempts a DoG or is surrounded, te models wil always move their full movement t get out of the way.
