Nice work. I feel your pain about being away for so many years. I been away at least 15+ years and I and still brushing up and learning new techniques. Keep at it. I know I am.

Looking good dude. I really like the colour scheme too. I look forward to seeing some more.

Thank you everyone. I did kind of pick two colors that are difficult to work with: white and red. I think I'm getting decent depth on the red, but I'm tweaking the white constantly and never quite satisfied.

Olde Tymers unite! Seriously, I don't know how people with kids manage to find the time to ever get any hobbying in. I fight with my schedule tooth and nail to eek out modeling and painting time, and I feel like I don't even have any SERIOUS responsibilities in my life yet (wife/kids/POTUS).

And might I say that your Chaos Marines look quite nice and chaosy themselves.

Tell me about it. I took a nasty fall the other day and well broke my left arm. (I'm thinking of turning into a power fist) LOL yet I am still managing to get my Khorne terminators done with it. I got some extra time off work now=(

I just got a new phone/camera, so I had to try it out. I'd say the picture image is much sharper now.

Test shot with the 7 completed Guardians:

About 60% done with the other 3, but I may not have time to paint for a few days more

Great work . I wish I had my old 35mm digital camera still my Phone can do no justice to a higher pixel camera. Every Pic I take with my phone camera either its' to bright with flash or to dark. Go figure.

Better, but still blurry. I wonder if you aren't just trying to get too close? Perhaps take the photo a little farther back, then crop it down?

Absolutely love the color scheme. Scorpions look amazing! My only critique is the red on the guardians is starting to look less dark and a bit orange.

Good to know I've gone a little too far maybe. I've been pushing my highlights brighter and brighter with these guys. Overall, I'm going for a brighter/lighter tone of red for the guardians than the heavily armored scorpions, but I still want it to be a nice rich red.

I will try a variety of shots when I finish up some more models and see if I can't get a better quality photo.

The Guardian Squad is finished except for the weapon platform which probably won't be finished for quite some time--I need to magnetize everything still. Side note: has anyone else had problems fitting the Shurkien Cannon correctly onto the weapon mount? Everything else fits perfectly.

Two views of the squad:

Still looking a little blurry, but getting better. The resolution always looks better before I upload them. Maybe I shouldn't be using the auto-adjust feature?

I don't. Try it without and see how things look.

What do you think? (This is the last batch of Guardians on their own. It's also the last Guardian picture I'm going to post, I swear!)

Really cool colour scheme, the bright bold colours really work for this army.

That actually looks quite good. If you look at the picture in the gallery, you can see that it's actually in-focus (if you zoom in). Sometimes pictures at certain sizes appear blurry in-line when they're actually in focus.

Got my first Warp Spider done. I wanted to add some variety into my army's color palette. At first I didn't like the way the violet turned out, but it's starting to grow on me. I might still use a different purple with the next one--something a little darker and a tiny bit redder perhaps? I probably should have tested a coupe different purples out first... But like I said, this is growing on me.

Warp Spider:

I put green and black jewels on this one, but if I stick with this color purple, I'm thinking about throwing some red gems into the mix. Maybe something else too? I don't know.

Very pretty. Your white is beautifully crisp. Very old-school. Green gems are a great touch with the purple.

Thanks for all the encouragement. Your own projects are awesome and prolific--you must manage your time incredibly well--so I especially appreciate the advice.

It does look a little old-school, right? My process is super old-school by necessity; they are 100% brush-painted, even the priming. And when I have all my painted Eldar grouped together, I get a very mid-90's WHFB vibe. Maybe I'm just old and my aesthetics have failed to keep up with the times, KIDS THESE DAYS, etc....

I tried to keep the Warp Spiders' scheme tied to the main force with red embellishments and sticking to green gems and green eyes, I want a relatively high degree of schematic cohesion overall.

You're close... I just spend to damn much time painting.

I really like the old-school look when its carried off well (which you do). Reminds me of an earlier, simpler time in 40k before there were terms such as WAAC, meta-game or building the narrative. Hell, EVERY game built the narrative... it's all we had back then.

Life has unfortunately slowed my painting down, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future, BUT I have managed to finish half of my Warp Spider squad.

Warp Spiders:

I changed a few of the details from my first model on the second two. I though a little more color in the middle of the gun might help to balance out some of the 'chunkiness' of the gold on the first gun. My army is starting to shape up. After I finish these Warp Spiders and the Shuriken Cannon bikes (6 of them, 2 of them being partially painted), I only have 6 Shining Spears and an Autarch to go (which I have yet to purchase). And a Waver Serpent. And 3 Falcons... But that's it.

Finished two of my six Shuriken Cannon bikes. I've finally got a complete jetbike squad!

I think everyone, or pretty much everyone, hates these old models. I have to admit, they are starting to grow on me.

Very nice work on the latest stuff Purple. I had a box of those lying around at one time too. I still have my original metal eldar bikes.

I wish the cannon riders were the original metal bits. Sadly, they are the new finecast pieces. Gladly, I shouldn't have to buy any more finecast pieces.

Understood. Finecast rarely is... and is very expensive.

Been a while and I've only managed to complete a few things.

First, Windrider Squad 2 is now complete:

Second, I finally got around to magnetizing and painting the weapon platform for the guardians. Here it is with the attendant crew members:

And:

And from the back:

Slowly, my army is taking shape. I'm at about the halfway mark for my 1500 point army--and only 2 Windrider left.

Update 5/28/2014:

Almost done with my last two biker, but got around to magnetizing and painting some weapons for the platform.

Bright Lance:

Scatter Laser:

It is doubtful that I will ever use and thus need to add missile launchers to any of my units.

I finished my Warp Spiders:

I enjoyed the break from painting jetbikes. I'm going to try to use a bit more of this purple in the details of my remaining models in order to tie the whole thing together better.
