If I was allowed to start up Chaos again, then I'd just do that. I made a number of mistakes when I first started my army back in January this year, and I've only just got around to optimising it which has been a pain. I'd save money by know exactly what I want and when I want it, rather than riding the coattails of excitement. if I couldn't stick with Chaos, then I would definitely start Space Wolves, because of the fact that they are hedonistic Viking werewolves.... IN SPACE!

Probably nids instead of the Marines and Crons I own. I'm just addicted to 3+ saves

First I'd cry, having lost 3,000 pts of CSM and a load of other stuff, and then be depressed for a while...

And then start up Daemons.

I'd probably collect a fully mechanized Steel Legion force with an allied detachment of BT.

If I had to start again I wouldn't. Only reason I keep playing 40k now is because of what I have invested in it and the armies of figs I've had for over 20 years as well. Take that away and I'll spend my time playing Flames of War instead. I've already built at least one of every 40k army, except for Tau, and many I've done multiple times, so I don't have any new armies calling to me to feed some unanswered need...

I currently have all of my armies on my want list so I'd stick with them. 40k DE, SM, DA. Fantasy OK, WOC, VC, HE

I'd probably have to go Salamanders space marines chapter. Next to Gk they are by far the most of purity of corruption heart factions in 40k

Either Noise marine punk rock army, or Minotaurs.

Or a Tau army a'la bossfearless.

If I were to drop my Tau which I started before the new codex I would like to add, I think I would like to start a pre heresy Deathguard army, it would be a fluffy list with a lot of foot slogging troops and a few big tanks just for show (I'm not a fan of playing with super heavies). I love the fluff about them just ashame Typhus was an arse.

Tyranids. Cool models, a new update and I like horde armies.

I would first brutaly murder the person that had stolen my SW, GK, DA and Nid armies that has cost me so much money that I dare not consider the whole value of them all. Then after a few days spent weeping bitterly I would restart my SW. Although 300P is not nearly enough to cover what I have put into the armies I own

If all my armies disappeared I'd probably start kicking some butt and try to hunt down the person(s) that took them lol. 300£ isn't nearly enough to start over again. At that point I'd call it quits on wargames. Though for sake of the op I'd like to start nids, but with so little cash I'd shoot for a DA DV force and shave off all the icons so I could play them as SM.

I'm with some of the others here, if all my armies dissappeared over night I'd invest the 300 in another game. It just doesn't get you a good decent army at all anymore nowadays so I wouldn't bother trying.

For the sake of the argument though, I'd start up guard (again). Had every army aside from tau and necrons and I have to admit that that is the only army I go back to every time, other armies come and go but my love for guard stays .

I started with marines. Eventually I turned tyranid and chaos but marines were my first love.

I would get marines again. They have lots and lots of support. Being a not-marine player means you suffer.

eldar , we mostly play 1500pts and their titan is more powerful then any other factions right now and because FW is not legal here I wouldn't have to worry about Warhounds with turbolasers.

Eldar would also cost me less then my IG did , if I had bought them when I started . A lot of people were droping them back then and selling their armies real cheap and I had to buy my IG at the store without any discount . To be honest I can't believe how stupid I was back then , instead of buying half the army on one day getting the discount and then buying the other half on another day . I bought everything in one go , got the discount , but because I already had an army I didn't need it for anything.

If i had all the money i have spent on DA / Tau and GK in my pocket now, and no models.... i'd probably go for IG, honestly.

I actually don't have an army right now, so this question is quite relevant to me. I have a really awesome idea for a Renegades and Heretics - Servants of Slaughter army, but £300 is nowhere near enough to realise it given the vast quantity of Forge World resin I would need to do it justice. I also don't have the hobby skills to pull it off (decent at converting, pathetically bad painter) so if it ever happens it will be a few years down the line. It's not worth starting until Forge World updates the army list some time next year anyway, but it'll be more than few months before I have the money/skill to do what I would like to do.

Honestly, 40k isn't a game worth playing anymore. If I ended up losing my current collection, I'd direct my funds and time to something actually worth my attention.

If I absolutely had to spend the money on something GW, I'd do so with some conversion-heavy Inquisition stuff. Basically the same thing I wanted to do before I quit in the first place.

I would restart my Armored Battlegroup, forlorn and devastated that I've lost thousands and thousands of dollars worth of models (some of which are practically irreplaceable).

I would definitely do Nids. Always wanted to play them, but don't have it in me to start another army.

I love my dark angels. So I'd just get two copies of dark Vengeance, and start chaos as well, get typhous for plague zombies.

I would go with Space Nuns.Like there devotion,faith points lokk nice.And burning everybody in ur sight becouse there is a slight chance that they taint is kinda cool stuff.

I,m waiting for the new Ork codex.

My current army IS the dream army I would have started if I could start again. For decades, I played chaos because I loved being the bad guy but after a while, i tired of my original color scheme but was too lazy to repaint everything and I had always dreamed of having a guard army (even started a mordian one but ran out of $ after 2 units).
THEN came apocolypse and thier bundle deals. MY GF at the timetold me she would buy me the guard company set for Christmas and told me to just order it and it was mine. I talked to thewarstore and they not only matched the price but even gave me an additional discount (not thier usual full 20% but still enough to make a difference.
When that order came in, I started my new dream army that I would start if I could start over and have only continued to expand on it since then.

Grey Knights. The look of their armor is second to none!

But I have to say that the thought of losing 7000+ points of marines and 2 years of work makes me wanna go do bad things to good people.

Tau all over again. I love the look of lots of armies, but Tau is pretty much my perfect match in terms of fluff, rules, aesthetics, everything.

Failing that necrons. They are almost as good as Tau as far as looks and fluff. Not sure how they play but I could probably have fun with them.

I have Blood Angels and Tyranids. I would keep the Tyranids, but if I had another army to play.

Tau.

I love the looks of the army. I like the hidden evil of the their morality. I like that much of the army can be extremely mobile. I like that they are a race in ascension not decline. Also, Blood Angels and Tyranids are usually more of an assault then shooting army, so the Tau are also different in this manner.

Maybe Eldar as well because I always like how many of the aspect warriors were designed. And their really interesting special charactes.
