There's more to it than that. Those looked to be specific clips of such. it was a running gag for a while though. The older lady is supposed to be his mother, and there are complicated mommy issues going on throughout the series.

As a whole, it's a James Bond spoof, and has its moments.

But at the same time, the whole thing is kind of senseless.

Turing being classed as a criminal was a product of his time when different, less liberal norms existed. If those circumstances were to happen again, the same thing would happen.. nice that this might bring some younger people's attention to a less tolerant age, and make them appreciate what we now have, but I don't think it serves any other purpose really.
