I'd still rather a Macharius Vanquisher. It can at least cause some damage to other vehicles and to infantry.

Still, you have to wonder what planet Neil Wylie and Alan Bligh were on when they wrote some of these rules.

I mean, just look at some of these:

CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT is an AV14/13/12 BS3 HP6 vehicle armed with 4 Heavy Bolters and it can transport two units. It doesn't have assault ramps, and to get Lascannons rather than HB's it costs an extra 40 points. Its base cost is 250. What else has a base cost of 250? Oh that's right, the Land Raider!

The Gorgon. AV14/14/10 and 9 HP, so it's fairly tough. Carries 50 people, and has a 5++ save. No weapons to speak of. 400 points. Four hundred. You know what'll kill it before it delivers its cargo? A Land Raider!

Minotaur. Ok, Twin-Linked 7" blast Earthshaker is pretty nice, and weirdly it's AV13/12/14 (yes, you rear that right). At 275 it's one of the cheapest, but for 250 you can get two Basilisks.

Macharius (vanilla). AV14/13/12, BS3 HP6. It has a big blast battlecannon. That's it. It's secondary weapons might as well be cosmetic. 325 points. I have a feeling that two Russes would be better. Also, in a one-on-one fight, guess which cheaper vehicle (that can also transport troops and has better armour and assault ramps) will beat the Macharius? Yep, the Land Raider!

Macharius (Vanquisher). The only half-decent one because it has a Twin-Linked S8 AP2 Armourbane gun and the same big blast Battlecannon from the vanilla version. For that privilege you're paying +50 points, but you may actually kill the Land Raider before it's two BS4 TL-Lascannons kill you.

Macharius (Vulcan). Are 30 S6 AP3 shots worth over 400 points to you?

And it just gets worse as you go into the Malcadors.

Yes... that's 3 riptides with heavy burst cannons worth of firepower right there. That's a steal at 400.

Well, not quite. I never use the HBC so I forgot its armor piercing value. It's actually better than 3 riptides worth of firepower.

I quite like the Malcador Infernus, with chem cannon upgrade. You get a hellstorm 18" torrent with AP2 and always which wounds on a 2+. That thing can wipe any infantry in the game off the board. It looks the best out of the IG super heavies too.

Haha then you look at the model and think twice about it... I reckon that model is too ugly to justify at all. You changed as i wrote it? Either way im not a fan at all of that model.

I missed the s from always.

I really like how the Infernus looks but I suppose that is all subjective really. It looks like someone took the arm from a titan and tried to make it move around on tracks.

Personally i think if it had more tank and less nozzle it would look great. But thats what conversions are for.

I had been thinking the same a bit but I also think that using the normal ammo would be the best, because with it the tank could also burn enemy light vehicles that are on the way. Also the strenght 7 means that it wounds almost everything on 2+ and can insta kill enemy characters. Also the normal ammo is quite good to kill enemy vehicles with cover, which I think is quite good because only few guns have strenght 7 and ignore cover. The only bad thing is that the ap value of the normal ammo is worse so it can't enymore wound TEQ.

Do think the at ability justifies the normal ammo?

PS: The normal ammo can iirc destroy minefields.

Yeah, that's what I evaluated to be the best out of the Malcador and Macharius variants.

Speaking of the Macharius, how is that supposed to be a "little Baneblade"? I mean, size and durability are okay, but the firepower? The secondary weapon systems are there for the sake of being there, lol.

I'll play anybody with any superheavy as I have the models to combat them and am experienced enough to know they aren't that scary....at least up to about 5,000 points.
