Personally, I think that assuming that an 'Orbital Bombardment' only consists of one lance strike is rather silly. THat's not a Bombardment, that's not even a salvo!
It is rare that we see the happyface icon. The conclave has yet to decide whether it is more or less disturbing than the black-eyed, Alma-face.
It should be noted, though, that the Orbital Bombardment in DoW is a good salvo of half-a-dozen lance strikes over a good section of the screen... but is not as insta-gibbing as one might expect.
It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

lol
Anyway, Angron obviously has no real way to combat an orbital bombardment (Unless he was a Daemon, maybe), only Magnus and maybe Lorgar do, but for what it's worth, Horus actually held off on continuing his glassing of Istvaan III's atmosphere because he was worried Angron might survive, and be very pissed at Horus.

In all seriousness in a unserious thread, we all know that the planet loses in this case.
But the loser is also the one who happened to manned the bombardment

Nothing to say the Primarch has to get together with an Astartes.
Magnus was quite close to his Remembrancer, after all.

Huh, the Imperium uses Hydrogen Peroxide as fuel. I guess their medical ships should have no problem cleaning wounds.
As for the main topic, at some point the planet will erupt and Angron will be surrounded by molten rock. Nothing that lives can survive that.

Well... being the classie contrarier that I am
Spoiler:
according to the heretical handwritten chronicle of his life, ... Konrad Curze's earliest memory was of descending from the heavens in a crackling ball of light to the night-shrouded planet of Nostramo. His embryonic form impacted on the the dense cityscape of Nostramo Quitus, smashing through countless levels of debris and mouldering architecture, through the planet's crust and into the geosphere before coming to a halt near the liquid core of the planet. His descend left a scar in the virtually inviolable adamantium strata of Nostramo, .... Theoretically, the only way the primarch could have reached the surface was to have swum through molten metal, borne upwards through volcanic veents to the surface...
"...a glowing child-form it was, crawled from the Pit onto the broken street, hissing molten metal dripping from its limbs. It was a daemon, no less, with the body of an infant but the expression of an old man, its eyes black and cold as obsidian."
-- "Bringers of Darkness: The Night Lords Space Marine Chapter", Index Astartes II, Kelly, Phil.
And Konrad died from allowing a Callidus Assassin to do it, probably knowing is unlike some of his brothers (e.g. Vulkan), and still he managed to live through both the initial impact and swimming in larva. So fluff-wise, Primarchs can shrug off any wounds until the plots says they must die.

(Poorly imitating a Russian accent) Lime! Dearest of all my internet non-friends, just for you, I've compiled a list of things that you might not have known about the primarchs from Index Astartes.
1. Did you know that, five of eighteen (in-universely) recorded Primarchs arrived on their homeworlds in a form of a meteor?
Fulgrim, whose cradle is that of the "hot white remains of a stasis capsule";
Ferrus Manus, who slammed into the highest ice mountain of Karaashi on Medusa, shattering the mountain top, and, basking in the glorious explosion of steam, "toppled mountains", his arrival was felt "the world over". Unscathed, he casually walked off the Ice Pinnacle he crushed into as a fully grown ma -- I mean, eh, Primarch.
Magnus, as a "portentous comet", he came to rest in the central plaza of the City of Light. "The vulnerability of their sanctuary to approach from above was something the adepts of Prospero failed to recognize; and failure for which they would suffer greatly in times to come." ("Masters of Forbidden Knowledge: The Thousand Sons Space Marine Legion", Index Astartes IV, Christopher Allan, Westmoreland, Hoare)
Vulkan, "a mighty comet blazing a trail of fire across the skies of the world of Nocturne during the Time of Trial..." ("Promethean Warriors: The Salamanders Space Marine Chapter", Index Astartes IV, Graham McNeil. Thorpe, Gav)
And of course, Konrad.
2. Did you know that, amongst the legends and tales concerning Corax's arrival on Lycaeus, one of which is of a fiery comet breaking apart a mountain of Iron? And other tales mentioned are of a life-consuming caving-in on a glacier, which revealed the chamber containing the Infant primarch? Or the tale of a dying old warrior begging the slaves to protect the unnatural infant?
3. Did you know, the nude infant Sanguinus survived in a land of deadly dose of radiation upon his discovery? Did you know that baby Mortarion breathed the lethal poison gas of the Barbarus Mountain Peaks? Did you know a child Perturabo was discovered while climbing the sheer cliffs of Olympia? Or that an non-PA-wearing Alpharius (or maybe Omegan) weathered multiple shots, at least one of which a bolter-round to the shoulder by Horus himslef, struck his hand inches from Horus' throat before coming to a halt (presumably coming to admire a shiny balding head that he had dreamt of for decades... oh wait, you there my good sir, who is so silent despite clad in that ridiculously cumbersome armor and appeared so suddenly right outside my apartment window just now, how may I hel--)
The Primarchs are literally demigods, while some might disagree on just how "mighty" Rogal Dorn, Horus, and Roboute Guilliman actually is in comparison to the deeds of the other Primarchs, their relatively null feats in strength or personal combat are likely the result of the comparably tranquil worlds they came to be on. An each and every single one of them can withstand any lethal wound short of literally magically designed to kill them (Anathame to Horus, The Daemon-possesed blade of Laer to Ferrus Manus, Daemon-Fulgrim to Guilliman and... eh, somehow Konrad chose a much more "mundane" death -- sheesh, he died a death of his choosing, who am I to judge?).
So hypothetically, each traitor primarch is an army of his own right, and fluffy-wise, non-daemon primarchs are, being unbounded from the limits of the wrap, neigh untouchable by mortal weapons (then again, there is Gilliman and those two erased Primarchs...) Urggh, sometimes, I just wanna shut down part of my brain to enjoy the fluff.
lcmiracle wrote: And Konrad died from allowing a Callidus Assassin to do it

And here I was wondering if all of the Horus Heresy was real... well, I mean, not literally real, but story-wise... pffffffffffffffff, brain shut-down protocol initiated, please stand by... 3... 2... 1...

I understand that this is a space fantasy but there is usually something called "Suspension of Disbelief" for this sort of thing. I can believe that someone would actually use slaves instead of auto loaders to load a cannon aboard a ship. I can overlook dumb little things like how close space ships are in formation. But I, as a learned scientistic man, cannot swallow someone being able to survive going into the mantle. That's a loooong time of being exposed to a lot of pressure and heat.

I would like to quickly point out this is a world where the solar system has plot armor. The necrons have a weapon that can destroy any star in the galaxy. Why do they not use it? Because nonsensical answer Gibbering blobs of emotion charge at you, close combat is reall popular despite the fact that such a tactic is suicidal in our own world, there are only 1,000,000 or so SM (probably a bit more but no clue what exact number), oh and in certain books 5 SM can kill 1,000 or more enemies and maybe just lose a single marine . Welcome to 40k, where you must surrender any capability of suspending your disbelief and just accept the utter nonsense that is 40k

You're making a massive mistake as well. Primarchs aren't human. It's no different than the "humans" mutants in Marvel or DC.
(It's not even just comic books, Primarchs are just the old heroes of our mythos like Beowulf and Hercules, taken up to eleven and gifted reality warping superpowers.)

However, I do think that eventually Angron will fall to the Orbital bombardment. If Primarchs can fall to blades they can fall to sustained explosions.

If I want to suspend my disbelief the normal way I have World of Warcraft RP.
I have 40K for when I want flying rodent gak crazy stuff.
To be fair, it's not as flying rodent gak as some of the crazy gak our ancestors cooked up in the wee hours of the morning (probably while tripping) while writing their mythos. Gilgamesh and Co. and any fable from Scandinavia comes to mind.
Oddly though, western entertainment has been making a steady shift to the crazy realm of extremely powerful protagonists and villains of most Eastern mythos and religions, Hinduism being a good example.
