On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

I'm going to go against the flow here and say it wasn't that bad compared to what else was around at the time.

I never played it, but I did have a 2600 and looking at the vid it looks pretty similar to a lot of the other stuff that was around.

I think it was just due to the timing of the release, just prior to the video games industry crash - that's why so many were buried, they just wouldn't have sold even it if it had a better game (for the standards of that time)

It was so bad, people were returning it. Seriously, the game's failure was a contributor to the industry crash. There's a reason it's constantly referred to as the game that nearly killed the industry. They buried millions of them and it's STILL a very easy game to find at used stores.

Give the thing a play if you can, it's much worse than watching someone play can ever indicate.

You're giving a review, and opinion on something........ you have absolutely no experience with? Is there a DAKKA bingo card for that?

Not ALL of them were buried to start with. Only the unsold ones. You can actually find copies on ebay that still work (and that were never recalled and buried) for around $5 USD if you look hard enough. The roms are pretty sturdy in them - the carts tended to outlast the consoles.

It wasn't totally bad for something WRITTEN AND PUBLISHED in 5 WEEKS. That's how little time they had to get the game to market. Yes, it flopped because people were understandably unsatisfied by it. Wasn't the last game to do this - but it probably was indicative of Atari's slide at that point.

It's not that the game was bad but more that 5 weeks is a crazy time for a 'major' game release.
It shows the state of the industry at the time and that publishers were quite clearly out of touch idiots who have no concept of what it is they are selling. Not at all like today...

Haha.. Not a review, no, just saying that from viewing the vids it looked pretty much like a lot of the other games around at the time.

Based on what Platuan4th has said though it might actually be worth getting and trying, in a kind of watching a 60's B-movie kind of way.

It looked much like the other games of its time..... so it looks OK? Kinda like superman64 looks a lot like games of its time? So it's on par with Mario64 and ocarina of time?

I'll apologize then. I just get incredibly annoyed when some gives an opinion on something, regardless of how big or small, when they have zero experience in relation to the opinion given.
