Don't forget all the grimdark paperwork that the administratum layers upon everything, and that you must appease the mechanicus every time you use your equipment to kill someone.

At least in the IG you're considered too unimportant to do paperwork

Grimdark paperwork? I assume something written on parchment, with skull headers. Official approval is given with a skull stamp.

Heh, with their free top-notch equipment Arbites gangs were a tough cookie to crack early on, but became increasingly softer as a campaign progressed. Awwww the memories...

PDF. Despite what all the fluff shows us, the odds are actually in your favor in regards to the chances of a war breaking out on your home planet in your lifetime.

Chances are, if you join the PDF, you'll spend most of your existence just fething around on an army base, kind of like what soldiers do now when their country isn't in a state of war.

I like how people think the Arbites is a safer career than PDF.

Spoiler:

The Kasrkin were just men. It made their actions all the more astonishing. Six white blurs, they fell upon the cultists, lasguns barking at close range. They wasted no shots. One shot, one kill. - Eisenhorn: Malleus

In the PDF, you will have to face the same threats, only with nearly non-existant armour, much less training and less powerful weapons

IG trooper, pays the most, and who wants to live long in the 41st millennium anyway. Was going to say PDF trooper, as I wouldn't have to go to some feth-off hellhole in the far flung reaches of the galaxy and still get fair pay, but then I realised I'd just be killed to a man as soon as I enlisted, which would be rather counterproductive to be sure.

I'd never make the grade to get into the arbites, too much hard training, but a priest, now that I could do...
I just have to learn a few prayers, and then it's all tea with the ecclesiarch and setting fire to people for singing on the Sabbath. To quote Eddie Izzard: CAKE OR DEATH?

Cadet at the AdArbites 3.3 IC p/h, does seem like the safest option.
Although serf for the AdMech at 4 IC P/h. If I improve the efficientcy of minor tech will I be considered a Heretec and get servitored?
If so I am going to be a cop.

Well, considering that my job choice was the IG, I'm probably half the galaxy away by this point, so ima stick with it, and never be told that my family are about to die.

Thinking about it, after surviving the IG for 5 years, I'm probably a Veteran Sgt already. Probably better pay, I get transported often, and my team gets the best kit in the regiment.

2000pts IG. ( based on fallout US Army)

3000pts XIIth Legiones Astartes 8th Assault Company. (Pre heresy)

never in the field of human conflict, has so much been fired at so many, by so few.

My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions. Loyal servant to the true emperor Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.

I rolled a double 6 with a meltabomb on a stompa, and then rolled another six for damage. Somehow survived the explosion.

Got me an Emperor's Cross for balls-out luck.
