From what I see in the rules, some folks here (notably Mark Cron) seem to inserting rules that are not present.

There is nothing written in the rules that says all CA detachments need to be from the same faction.
The only restriction, is that any time you use the allied FOC, it must be a different faction than the faction used in the Primary CA detachment.

Oops. When I wrote the original post, I mistakenly applied logic. RAW coredump is correct.

It will be interesting to see if we do get an FAQ for this. The entire faction / primary detachment thing makes more sense if CAD have to be same faction as primary detachment (which is where I went wrong - I assumed from the restriction in the ally chart that any faction other than the primary detachment faction had to use the ally chart).

Then you can combine with yourself without penalty to the available slots (but you have to pay the +1 troop tax) but allies become less attractive if you are only after Elite, HS or FA choices (because of the HQ+troop tax) and you can only take 1.

Sweet, and just to clarify what Im reading in the big book your army is battle forged as long as you fill the requirements of each detachment (no matter what kind of detachments they are) and they're battle forged? No matter what their allies matrix alignment is?

Wave your arms and shout.'

Yeah, as long as you have legal detachments of any number and variety, you can be battleforged.

The allies matrix alliance doesn't change what detachments you can take, only how they interact on the board.
