The Dark Overlords would also be acceptable. And Howard the Duck is a far better movie than it gets credit for. There, I said it.
Still no Short Circuit 2, though.
Would a Goa'uld or Jaffa homage be too much? I could rock a Horus guard.

Look at the moon worm and the maw beast, I do see the resemblance in the lower jaw. Hopefully Ares has got its butts covered. At the very least the moon worm will be significantly smaller.
There were also teases of vehicles showing up (at least according to Gremlin's comments). I'm still hoping for a mutlihex giant robot for the agents to use...
In my mind it's not a Guyver without a third eye and elbow spikes.
As to the moon worm being too close to the mawloc, both are based off the Graboids from Tremors. The only thing GW did was add a membrane between jaws. (Something I'm sure D&D had with one of its worms in a Monster Manual.)
Next set of stretch goals are the T-100 endoskeleton and a set of MIB themed generic devices.

So here's your Terminator/ Boomer/ Coalition Forces inspired Xeno-Skull
Moon pledges get 6 of them (2 of each difficulty level). They sound pretty nasty.
Also more gear for everyone at 230k, along with the Skulls.
Also, don't forget we've got hoverbikes! These are just the first set of vehicles too- wonder if there will be more? While they're tokens for now, sounds like there might be sculpts later on. More interestingly, if the comments section are anything to go by (and the homages the Gremlins toss in there), I wouldn't be surprised to see those bikes transform into ride armor a la Mospeada/ Robotech. Hopefully they serve some practical use (and are practically armed as well).

Not sure if this is going to be a new post, or if it just gets ammended to my last one, but the boomernator xeno- skulls are in!
Also- you now will get skirmish rules to play with all the toys you get in the box.
Next social stretch goal is to make the modular map pieces double sided, which will be especially nice with the extra tile set included with Moon pledges.
Next regular stretch goal gets you NPC versions of 3 of the original KS exclusives. Kind of neat- if you already have them, you can use these new ones as backup, and if you're new, there was talk of making updated character sheets available for these three as well. There also seems to be a possibility of getting some of the other original KS exclusives as NPCs. We'll see...
Here's a mock up of what that Galaxy pledge (the base game and expansions) looks like with all the miniatures on display. Sadly, there will we WAY more stuff spread out if you put all the counters, skills, tactics, equipment, and other various tokens on the table at the same time. There really is a ton of stuff to fiddle with included in this game!
After that, it's only 5k away to the quarter of a million milestone, which will net every pledge level new minis! I'm sure I'll post it here when it's revealed!

The components look plentiful if mixed in terms of aesthetic quality, but hell if the game doesn't look awesome.
At the suggestion of the fine posters here, I watched a bunch of video-reviews and have come away very much wanting to play the game.
Of course that complicated a month where I had carefully set aside $500-600 for the new WH40k Orks and the Dust Tactics Kickstarter... meaning something is on the chopping block.

I'm more than happy to shill for this game, as it gets me more goodies in the end.
The figures definitely got some funk to them, but it really *IS* a good game. After I kick the last of my students out the door today, I'm setting the game up in my classroom and slaughtering some aliens once again.
Of course, we were playing Dust this morning where my Gorillas made mince meat out of my students' walkers... good times. I oughta figure out rules to get the gorillas into a GD game!
How determined are you to get those Orks into action? At the very least, you know those aren't really going to go anywhere anytime soon. That would be my chopping block consideration, which is tough because Gorka and Morka seem to be calling my name too...

Well no matter what I need to drop $110 this week on an Ork Stompa. Writing on the walls says they'll raise its price by $30-50 within a month, as its currently only $10 more than their new 'Nauts, despite being twice the size (and arguably a significantly better unit).
The rest of the release I might camp on until the Codex comes out, or even later....
Dust is a pet project in every sense. No one I know will buy a single piece, so I keep all three armies topped up with every option lest i'll never get to play it, and its one of my absolute favorite games. The Battlefield version has proven to be even more fun still.
But this just looks great. Quick, tactical, not-too-fiddly, flavorful.... Something about GD really calls to me.
Sigh... anyone need a kidney?

What's that? More stuff you say? You want more? Apparently Ares wants you to have more stuff as well!
BEHOLD.
In honor of D-Day, you get this new little device:
Which is pretty bad ass, both in game applications and for what it represents. Especially if you're like me and you send those agents through the meat grinder more times than you care to admit!
These also seemed to have shown up this morning:
Oh boy! Just what we all need! Since this is a blue stretch, every pledge level gets these as well. Not sure if the little broods will be figures or tokens, but regardless it's going to make life more miserable for those agents.

I went back and reread the text of the update.
The eggs will be figures- 2 of each color level, for 6 in all.
There will be a pile of the venom critter counters. They rush the agents and latch on to them, flipping the critter counters over to turn them into poison counters on the agent sheets, where they then attempt to eat their way through the agent. Fun stuff.
People in the comments section were hoping if those venoms killed an agent, that the agent's body then be transformed into an Aracnos alien. Pretty sucky way to go, but I could see that getting house ruled!

The 245k goal has been broken. Moon pledges get the 3 NPC agents to use, and they become an optional purchase for Earth pledges. Still haven't heard one way or the other if character sheets will be available to use those guys as regular agents.
Next up at 260k. Another Master Alien. I'll let you guys figure out the reference.
I guess that isn't enough to give away, so you've got some more devices to play with as well at 260k. These are exclusives too.
Wonder what could be next? There was still talk of a new female agent hanging out in the shadows...

250k goal has been broken!
Speaking of breaking, it's time to break some egg shells, because you got a half dozen of them now included in your pledges of all varieties!
And I love this new picture that's up of all the stuff you get for your pledge now.
Plus whatever else is still in the works.
This is the latest challenge while things climb to 260k and unlock the experiment. Getting the word out!
Basically, Ares and their Gremlins will commit to upgrading the current mission generator software if word gets out to 50 different forums. Unfortunately I don't really belong to many forums that aren't related to work, so I'm not going to be much use in that regard.
Let them know if you make and posts elsewhere, and make mention of it in their update comments section so they can track it.

INCOMING PILE OF STRETCH GOALS.
Custom menace tokens when you piss off a master alien
NPC support agent-
Extra weapons for passing the total of Ares' other game, Sails of Glory-
More veteran agents make a return appearance as back up-
More toys to kit your agents up with-
Then at 300, we see another agent make an appearance as a jack of all trades-
And probably the coolest stretch goal of all, the designer is going to do something positive with himself:
Pretty satisfying pile of loot if we hit all those stretches. Plus there's always the chance of things getting crazy in that last 48 hour rush, who knows if the total can climb higher? I'm sure there's plan in store just in case...

After the last time I opened my mouth about the doctor, things didn't turn out to well. Will remain silent in this case.
Also, what's the doctor really going to do, other than be a liability on the battlefield? Everyone else is all geared up, armored out, guns blazing, and here's a dandy British gentleman with a magic wand basically.

He'll defeat his foes using logic, reason, and his fabulous fashion sense! But seriously, they could arm him with his sonic screwdriver. It could count as a short range sonic weapon. Throw in some psychic abilities that could disrupt the enemy or turn them into allies and throw in a K-9 drone to boot. He could also buff his allies.
Remember, during the 3rd Doctor era and the early parts of the 4th, he hung out with UNIT for a while and fought all sorts of aliens and bad stuff alongside them. He's no stranger to a war zone.

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN.
24, 24, hours to gooooo....I wanna be an Agent!
The nice thing is Ares has already said that whatever goals aren't met, will be rolled into a bundle and available via the pledge manager. No idea how much that will end up running us, since it's entirely dependent on what goals get hit.
It seems that season 3 (whenever that will drop) will have focus on time travel... will I finally get my tabletop figures of dinosaurs with guns? Someone cue up that dino riders painting!

The doors and windows are going to be quite a welcome addition. I would have gladly had that swapped in the place of custom menace tokens. Those doors and windows can get a LOT of use, and sometimes it's hard to remember where those pieces are.
Don't forget that stretch is giving us more overlays as well!
I too hope they all get included one way or the other. Hopefully their Final Countdown bundle of unmet stretch goals is quite small. Automatically Appended Next Post: A new pledge level appears. I guess this is as good as it's going to get for an a la cart pledge.
I know most want to add the bots, but at the very least you can add them via the pledge manager.
On the flip side, if all you want are the stretch figures, you could probably flip all three of these included figures later on. Someone out there will want these!

I honestly have no idea what happened there.
Good game, solid reviews, lots of components, tons of new content...
Did the high price scare people off? It's not like there haven't been piles of other expensive campaigns out there. Brimstone certainly wasn't limping along.
Of course, that campaign had all sorts of last minute dropping shenanigans too. Thousands of dollars worth...
At the very least they unlocked a ton of stuff, will give backers the option to pick up the leftover stuff, and hopefully allow latercomers to hop in once the pledge manager drops.

Hey what in the world happened? I was just on kickstarter checking up on xenoshyft, dust and this and what in the world happened to the backers? I like watching big KS close as their number sky rocket but what occurred here? I have never seen a big KS just flop tens of thousands of dollars in the final day. Was it not at like 278,000 just two hours before its end? How did it lose almost 20,000???

I didn't get in because it's insanely expensive for a board game. I may pick up the base game online at a discount, but I had trouble finding the value in it , especially when compared to something like Shadows of Brimstone.

Even at it's highest price point (a Galaxy pledge) it was still cheaper than Brimstone.
I will concede that Brimstone is supposed to come with a crap ton more stuff for the money you put up if you went Minecart however. Nicer figures too, and no exclusives to really speak of other than one figure. Bigger pieces to play with also.
I really don't get why so many bailed. Just odd behavior. There was one that left with like 3 seconds to go on the clock!
Maybe something more akin to Zombicide's Season 2, where it was a brand new game as well as an expansion will work better for them next time.
I do recommend tracking down the base game in the meantime. Quite enjoyable.

The no sell for me was that I had to spend $250 to be able to play the game in this KS, as the Base Game is required for the two expansions.
With all stretch goals, all you had to spend with Brimstone was $150.
But yeah, Miniature Market has the base game for like, $55. May check it out.
