How come you think its a typo? While I do agree the shield has insane range making their only transport option that usually cost over 130 points having to get that close seems silly.

A one use shot that causes blind or pinning and allowed the vehicle to count as an assault vehicle until the end of turn would have been much better. Instead of making it one of the best main battle tanks in the game which now has Objective Secured.

Well the shield is supposed to be a defence measure. The entire use of Wave Serpents as primarily a tool for attack doesn't match the fluff at all. The idea was that the shield was a defence that in an emergency could be projected forward to strike at enemies. If it were 6" then it would fit in with the concept of using it as a transport to deliver troops. Fly up close using the shield to protect you, launch it at the nearby enemy to disrupt them if needed whilst the troops piled out. Wave Serpents appeared in Epic first, and back then their shields were not super long-range. I'd move the Serpents (usually a unit of two) up toward the enemy with the shield protecting them. When I got close I'd fire it off messing up the enemy whist harlequins or scorpions piled out of them.

If the 0 was a typo, that would make a lot more sense.

What is best in life?
To wound enemy units, see them driven from the table, and hear the lamentations of their player.

I've seen Necrons and AM regularly trash Eldar lists.

I play:
40K: Daemons, Tau
AoS: Blades of Khorne, Disciples of Tzeentch
Warmachine: Convergence of Cyriss
Infinity: Haqqislam, Tohaa
Malifaux: Bayou
Star Wars Legion: Republic & Separatists
MESBG: Far Harad, Misty Mountains

I watched my friend play a game in my local league. He played his generic Ork list (Which I've beaten a thousand times with Necrons) against a decently balanced Eldar list (as far as balanced for them goes). It was his first time fighting Eldar, ever, and they used a Wraithknight, 2 Wraithlords, 3 Wave Serpants, Avatar of Khaine, Jetbikes, and the Wraithfighter. He actually ended up coming out on top because of objectives. Also, his one Nob biker that was left took out the Avatar of Khaine, and one Nob in a group of boyz took out the Wraithknight. So, it IS possible, just not very likely.

I have lost several games with Eldar in the recent past.

Here's the things that did me in:

1. An excellent list combining Tau shooting with battlewagons full of orks and meganobs.
Very difficult to handle combo.

2. A better Eldar list. Yeah, not helpful, but there it is.

3. A Fateweaver screamerstar list. Actually, I technically won this, but should have lost but for ridiculous dice rolling on both sides. I count it as a loss.

All were under 6th edition rules.

I just faced eldar and won! We played Maelstrom of War, and he took 4 wave serpents, two with fire dragons, one with Dire Avengers, and one with wraithguard. He also had a laughing seer and a jetbike squad.

I played BLOOD ANGELS. That's right, I beat eldar with BLOOD ANGELS. High five to all those eldar haters out there.

Did you hit him over the head with the rulebook when he wasn't looking?

I actually managed to beat one with a Wolves list, it was in 6ed, but my method to beat them was to go lots of 3 units of long fangs with rune priests and drop pods full of grey hunters, I dropped the wolves next to the serpents to be able to maneuver the meltaguns at their back and killed all wave serpents first turn. Granted that was 6ed, but seems like a good strategy still.

Why wouldn't they have their hulls up against the table edge if they were facing a Drop Pod Heavy army?

They were up because we were playing vanguard strike and he was supposed to go first, but I stole the initiative.

Okay so I won 14-13.

A bunch of objective cards I drew ended up with capture so-and-so objective. I have drop pods so I managed a good amount of those.

Mephiston dropped down, took 7 fragon shots to the face and took 1 wound. (Corbulo) Stormraven killed a bunch, and I just did overall well IMO, and we both had mediocre rolling.

My fragioso put two wounds on his laughing seer first turn (should've done more) and then he perilsed and died.

Any questions.

And yes, you have no excuses nunjafiredragon.

I beat them recently with pure ravenwing. He didn't have a wraithknight but had a bunch of wraithguard in wave serpents.

Edit: I actually had all ravenwing and 2 drop pods... 1 with meltavets and 1 with a 5-man assault squad with flamers.

This thread just makes me lulz. Great stories from everyone. I have beaten eldar a few times (lost way more than won) and they were mostly due to my opponents bad rolling.

Heck, the only time I thrashed the eldar player was when I was running buff-commander + burst cannon riptide for monster hunter. And he complained I was able to put 5 wounds on a wraithknight in a turn with that (buff-commander + epca riptide is about 450 pts, and now dead because of the IC changes).

I almost tabled him one game, but playing whack-a-mole with jetbikes doesn't work.

I've beaten Eldar by tabling the gak out of them with 75 MEQ models.

The board's only so big, and Raptors with krak grenades and 4 attacks each move fast.

I lost a lot of games as Eldar when I was younger. But that was 4 editions ago. And my jetbike squadron only had one jetbike.

On the other hand, I did once lose a game where I had half again the opponent's point value (he brought less than was allowed to a tournament, I was a jerk and saw an easy win, refused to drop my points down, STILL lost, my Space Marines against his Tyranids).

Same, I beat them with Wolves, although my list was different and I had some insane luck. It was a KPs game and he was crushing me. However, I was denying KPs and wiping out his units when they jumped out of their Wave Serpents. I was down near the end though, but then he made the risky move of charging my wounded Wolf Priest and his Grey Hunters with his big Jetbike unit, consisting of a Farseer, 2 Warlocks and 7 Bikers. Somehow I managed to kill the Farseer with my Wolf Priest, then swept the rest of the unit, netting a tasty 5KPs in 1 go. He was floored and I won the game shortly after.

Of course, every other game against them so far has resulted in me electing the way of pain.

I have only beat 6th edition elder once, and that was with a horde chaos daemon list (yes, horde, and no fateweaver). His army was a mix of different builds with a trio of walkers and serpent heavy. I had a basic lord of change, loads of daemonettes, pinkies, and even bloodletters. Also had a single daemon prince and a soul grinder.

With my marines, I have only ever managed a couple of ties and lots of losses.
