As I recall, yes. It was the last shot out of that squad too. I rolled that six and we both almost fell over.

As a Daemons and CSM player, the best thing about my armies are that anything I touch in CC simply dies.

Seekers are a staple of all my daemon armies, and I love them to death. They're fast as hell and even a 10-man squad will punk a full-sized terminator unit. I take them in two twenty-gal blobs, and they're consistently my VIP's.

With CSM, I play a Mono-Khorne army that I call the Red Fleas, as the core is built around two jump-pack lords attached to a squad of MoK raptors each. This is another unit that moves fast and hits hard. To date, I've yet to lose an assault with them.

42 strength 5 attacks, 3 strength 5 AP3 attacks and 11 strength 7 AP2 attacks on the charge are apparently too much for most things in the game to handle.

As others are mentioning, what I like best is the absurd scale of the Imperial Guard.

You have a predator? Here, I have three russes, and they're in one squad. Then here, this is my second squad of russes, and here's my second... to last squad of russes...

Oh, your tesla weapon gave you two free hits? Wow, that's like four or five hits? Watch as my infantry blob fires A HUNDRED FIFTY SHOTS AT YOU. And then I'm going to go over to my next blob, and then my second... to last blob...

Oh, you've got four lascannons in that havoc squad? I have TWENTY ONE lascannons in just one troops choice. And then my other troops choice, and then my second... to last troops choice...

Anything anyone can do, the guard can do it on just absurdly scaled up amounts. It doesn't matter that they're crappy because SEND IN THE NEXT WAVE!

Back before the mat ward armies and 6th ed, it used to be possible to literally have more dudes than your opponents had bullets. I miss 5th ed...

With CSM I guess I like it because it's the opposite.

Hah, look, I killed your tac squad down to just one dude... except that one power-armored mook rerolls his charge range... and hits on 3's and wounds on 3's and has four attacks? Wait, did your one dude just catch my whole squad in a sweeping advance? Oh god, make it stop!

Or terminators who are terminators. Oh but then they all get combi-meltas. And some at-initiative power weapons. Oh, except their initiative is 5, so they go first. Did I mention they have FNP?

Or my land raider, which is a land raider, which is pretty cool, except it kills a bunch of guys when it runs over stuff, and when the guys pop out, you don't get to overwatch against them. Did I mention that its weapons START PEOPLE ON FIRE!?

It's the guard in reverse. You take a normal space marine and give him some special wargear. And then some special rules. And then, you know what, let's throw some more special rules on there. And then huron's going to infiltrate them.

So customizable, and can be made so good. Almost the entire codex is that way.

With my corsair themed eldar it's a wonderful feeling to know that everything in my army can move at least 12" per turn and while they aren't very tough I can always strike where I want to with a rediculous amount of high strenght, high-precision firepower. It also helps that the background for corsairs in general and my fleet in particular has awsome fluff and that both the eldar and dark eldar models have some of the best sculpted models.

What are the BEST things about playing your army? The things that you like most; that might even bring a smile to your face when you remember them?

I'll start.

For my Sisters of Battle:

-The whole Holy Warrior thing they've got going on. Love the Holy Warrior thing, be it Paladins in World of Warcraft, Sisters of Battle in WH40k, and... such.

-The minis that are still great almost two decades later. Only reason I want plastic ones is for heretical conversions and ease of painting. Heck, they could keep them monopose, exactly the same poses as they have now, maybe give them less built-in weapons so they can be swapped out for different ones - so a separate piece for the hands and weapon - and I would replace my entire army with plastic ones as quickly as I can afford to buy the models. Wouldn't even ask for extra detailing or anything like that.

-Feeling secure when I describe how pitiful the whole "Horde Favoritism" thing is on the WoW forums, compared to GW's treatment of the army. And I LOVE topping off those posts with, "And Sisters players don't even complain as much as you guys do." Makes me feel good in a vengeful sort of way for all the times they've clogged up the forums.

Well as for playing Tau I love:

Robotech. The Tau Empire figs look like they are straight out of battle suit based anime.

Also, it's the sneakiest army there is. It allows me to employe every special deployment shenanigan

Lastly, I love the fact they are the only true Good guys in the galaxy. Their goal is simple: Empire building. they dont do the crazy crap the Imperium does to its citizens, it doesn't do anything "Wierd". Just an Imperialist power bent on the betterment of all.

Hold out bait to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and then crush him.

Hmmm, all the wonderful stuff about playing Tau:

We have a tool in the box for pretty much every eventuality. If there's a playstyle, we can usually pull something out to counter it at least semi-effectively.

Shooting is the only proper and sophisticated way to wage a war. Charging forward to bludgeon each other is for lesser beings.

Jinking flyers that get a 2+ cover save and still shoot at BS 5 thanks to markerlights.

Technology that's actually improving and being actively researched instead of "if it's good enough for people 20,000 years ago, it's good enough for me."

Being able to shoot 36 S5 AP5 shots out of a squad of fire warriors from 15" away.

Giving stealth and shrouded to a bunch of T5 battlesuits that can jump 3d6" in the assault phase.

Our plasma doesn't get hot because it's designed with proper safety precautions like a sensible person.

Being the only sane man (fish?)

I could go on, but I will end with: being able to wear this expression throughout the entire game because you're Tau and you're awesome.

Imperial Guard... everything.

There's nothing better than the idea of a mere mortal human armed with a rifle and told to hold his ground against the greatest horrors of the universe.

Imagine how awesome it is when some twisted traitor cultists summon a great monstrosity from another dimension and cheer as it marches to win the war for them.. only to take an anti-tank shell in it's face and get it's corporeal body torn to pieces which results in it's essence getting sucked back into the Warp.

Where they have magic, incomprehensible technologies or giant monsters, we have bitter hatred, iron and guns.

It's funny to see puny humans in their tanks and APCs(mechvet army) facing off the most exotic, terrible or twisted things that live in the Galaxy with hatred, guns and faith in the Emperor.. and win. Even bloody-handed avatars of xeno gods cannot stand a torrent of 40 S5 shots out of which 20 have rending thanks to Pask in addition to 4 MM and 2 Lascannon shots from the punisher tanks. You bring bigger monsters, we bring bigger guns to kill them!

Awesome mobility- nothing quite like having a Night Scythe drop a squad of Gauss Immortals in rapid fire range behind the enemy's ADL.

Getting lucky with Tesla rolls.

Getting my beatstick Overlord/Destroyer Lord into CC with some poor company command squad and having him slaughter the lot of them singlehandedly.

That time in 6th when I brought a Tomb Stalker to a game for the heck of it and it ended up eating a Land Raider and a Leman Russ and finally swept a 30 guardsmen blob at the last turn. Glorious!

Inevitably winning "who's race is more powerful" banter unless opponent pulls the "lol chaos gods" card (which in my opinion is tantamount to admitting defeat anyway).

The dark behind the eyes.

With my Necrons:

- Making an enemy character or MC beat themselves to death with MSS.

- Bringing 2-3 flamers to bear on an enemy squad (usually Gauntlets of fire and 2 Despair Crypteks).

- Firing a Tesla Destructor and getting more hits than shots.

- When the enemy kills a ton of models, and then most of them get back up.

- Having one or more characters get back up multiple times in a single game.

One of my favourite Necron moments was, using the old rules for the Tomb Stalker from before IA12 was released, assaulting with 1 wound left through LoS blocking terrain against a Tau gunline and slaughtering them because they couldn't overwatch.

- A tactical squad that seems to take forever to die, even longer than my terminators. (and it was the first unit I ever bought)

- Spending a good chunk of the battle trying to find out what on earth to do with my Attack Bike and Devastators.

- A converted Captain (though I call him an Exorcist for use as a Chaplain) that still has to see battle.

- Scouts + Sniper Rifles + Lucky Rolls = FUN

- Having a captain that meleed tanks to death is a nice bonus.

Orks:

1. Conversions/kitbashes. Dear god, the conversions/kitbashes. With a little bit of time and effort, I can turn any single kit in the game from any army into a usable model for the Orks. My entire unit of Nob Bikers is made up of a box of Boyz riding bikes of various other armies. My Biker Boss is a conglomeration of bits from 7 different kits. My Battlewagon was created using Ork armor plates and a Land Raider. That, to me, is exactly why I started playing Orks, because even if the official models are expensive, other armies' models are relatively less so. For instance, my Big Guns, 3 kannons with 3 lobbas, were made up of a single box of grots ($15) and a single IG Heavy Weapon Squad ($40-ish) - just shy of $60 for 6 models, when the official Ork ones would have cost me $180.

2. Do you really need any other reason? Well, alright, I suppose I really enjoy the look on my opponents' faces when I start pulling out my army of boyz...and I keep pulling out boyz...and I keep pulling out boyz...and I keep pulling out boyz...
