Out of the three factions whose walkers can take the most damage before rendered inoperable ? Also which one would be harder to knock over ? I notice ork machines aside from Kans and dreads look like they have a more stable center of gravity (having most of their mass toward the lower half than the top) that would make knocking them down harder.
I don't think Tau really count here. Tau battlesuits aren't walkers, they're Starship Troopers style power armor. Their legs are useful for saving fuel/energy while standing in one spot, but their primary mobility is the jetpack, not walking around for extended periods of time.
(And I prefer to think that Riptides don't exist at all. They're incredibly anti-fluffy and only exist because GW wanted to sell an overpowered $100 model kit.)
I agree. I also like to prefer (as an alternative to the obvious "real" reason by GW that you posted) to see the Riptide as something akin to a situation where having way too much government funding ends up with some people's crazy ideas somehow making it past the stage where they should be immediately vetoed by a financial committee. Some tau engineer had a huge love affair with either Knights or Stompas, and wanted some Mega-Death Battlesuit, and because of the Tau's latest Expansion lust, it got approved. Despite the fact that Barracudas and Tigersharks (Especially the variant) would do the job immensely better on an Epic-Scale battlefield.

Eldar Walkers are probably the strongest. BUT, being that a good Mek and some boyz can build a Gargant in a few months what the Eldar would take...I dunno... say 3 years to build a Wraithlord thingy. I think orks are better

Not really. It is a slight variation of the standard Eldar War Walker, which came out well before 2002 (when the AT-XT was introduced).
I know. I was just joking. But you do have to admit they do share some similarities

Well, yeah, there are only so many bipedal walker designs you can create. :p
Have you looked at the stretches they have to make to create new battlemechs?

According to the lore stompas and titans are part of the inspiration for the riptide. The tau realized they needed a heavier weapons platform that was still mobil. And it is good to have a heavier ground platform for your weapons at times. I've seen battles in the lore where the tau don't have air superiority and seem to have trouble against larger war-engines. Namely in the case of Arkunasha war and the story Engine of Mork.

I've always imagined that they shuffle along like an old man.

They are cheaper and can therefore field more and the loss of them is not felt as strongly as it is with other factions.
Tau must be trained for their battlesuits and the loss of one battlesuit is not only expensive as the tech is destroyed but all the time and money invested into the pilot is lost as well.
Eldar Walkers are ancient half living undead constructs that are extremely powerful but rarely deployed the loss of one could quickly render an Eldar battleforce under armed.
Orks use grots and other orks for their walkers, practically nothing in terms of investment as their is no training and little growing needed. Any ork can be strapped into a deff dread and any grot into a killa kan.
So yah orks

Something like this, I imagine:

That would be the Wraiths. War Walkers are simply Walkers that are piloted by an Eldar, that possibly has been upgraded to have a spirit helping out.
Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

At least Titans are described as "shambling" or "tottering like an old man". The original design of the one pictured there has a third leg to maintain its stability, which is good, because it would have to be a tripod. Making it a biped makes it entirely unusable.
It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.
Speaking of titans, how do any of those stand ? Is there some kind of anti grav system keeping them from sinking into the ground or are they just that well built (which is stretching the term for anything ork).

Their feet are huge, even on the Warhounds (which are only, what, 14 meters?). Like, ten, twelve meters across, even bigger on the really big Titans (smaller, obvs, on the 'Hounds). The Imperial ones, anyway.

And then there is the mighty Imperator, whose feet and shins are the same size as an entire Reaver titan............I'd say that's enough footprint to keep from sinking, although it would likely get it's feet stuck in urban areas, when the street collapses all the way down to the subway-levels each time it sets a foot down.

FTFY.
