I would prefer HQ crisis suits (with 2 fusion blasters) with maxed BS:5 drone units attached (including 2 markerlight drones each).
Anti-air is no problem (mass twin-linked S5), anti infantry is no problem, fusion blasters against armour in combination with deep strike.

Not sure if this stands in the same rank as others but for unbound I'd like to try something like this.
6 Tau Buff Commanders (C&CN, MSSS, Iridium Armor, Stim Injectors) (2 of which have PEN chips for 2 Fusion Teams)
with
6 Groups of 3 Crisis Suits with Special Weapons?

13 slaanesh soul gringers at 1950. Its got aa covered and anti armour (13+ in cc) plus anti infantry in 39 auto cannon shots, or drop one and give 10 of them torrent flamers at 2k.

Alright so check this out farseer army?

For just under 2000pts

16xfarseers on jetbikes with singing spears, one has mantle of the laughing god

Give the farseers powers from runes of fate, telepathy and sanctic.
Each Farseer gets 4 powers for a total of 64 powers
58 base warp charges
Another thing to keep in mind is that they are all independent characters so you can split them into units however you want and change it up through the game for different strategies with buffs or to hit multiple targets or whatever

mobility:
- top notch eldar jetbikes or gate of infinity to deepstrike anywhere on the board

firepower:
- 12" range but has bs5! Also has choice between 1 str9 shot or 2 catapult shots for anti infantry. Also note that the all the to hit and the to wound rolls are re-rollable due to guide and doom.
- access to all kinds of destructive psychic powers like vortexes of doom for general destruction, eldritch storms to clear out parking lots, and also mind war, purge soul and psychic shreik combined with terrify for sniping specific models and melting heavily armored foes. (Could drop a farseer or two to add some warlocks in hope of getting horrify.)

durability:
- 6+ to hit the unit with invisibility cast on them
- 2+ cover save in the open (when jinking and joined to mantle seer or near a farseer casting shrouding)
- 3++ invulnerable (with sanctuary) and 4++ otherwise
- 3+ regular armor save, can be 2+ if some warlocks are mixed in there and get protect
- and all failed saves are re-rolled with fortune
- oh and don't even try casting psychic powers at this unit

Anti-air:
-not that great for anti-air, however can take down 1-2 flyers per turn pretty reliably if all of the singing spears are focussed on them. Also the unit should be able shrug off the firepower of most flyers out there.

Anti-tank:
jetbike mobility + singing spear up the butt with some eldritch storms and 3 armor bane attacks at str5 (with hammerhand) per model when charging.

Anti-infantry:
the unit would probably have trouble against horde armies unless they can use their psychic powers to modify leadership then force pinning/ runaway tests. That being said 32 TL shuriken catapult shots at bs 5 on a doomed unit is pretty disgusting and can probably take out nearly any unit

2000pt 13 vindicare assassins. Serious 72inch snipers options to kill anything in or out of cover ap2 stops invulnerable saves or anti tank. Add Anahi's with laz guns for some bs8 skyfire could hold its own

I guess AB + WK would do the trick then.

Other than that, I would automatically take Creed, and I believe there are other characters out there that can be worth it.

Flayed ones with destroyer lords with resurrection orbs, and maybe a few spyders. A wall of walking metal andblades that is going to really be impossible to keep down.

Or better still just take 16 Heralds of Tzeentch with Discs and ML3. You'd have 48 Warp Charges to fart around with, and 16 Seperate squads to summon with means you can swarm the board with 8 summons per turn if using 6 dice per cast.

I'd run 57 Individual Jokaero. That is a lot of las cannons, MM, or flamers. And since it unbound no more than 1 to a unit. You'd have to kill 57 different units and survive half that in las cannon hits a round.

Speaking of which, what's the opinion regarding dedicated transports? Can't take them without a unit to transport, is how I read it -- as according to the 7th rules, they don't even have a faction and derive their faction from the unit that they transport.

It doesn't . as it is i dont think they can take them. though this is changing with the new books moving everything into FA slots.
