it wasn't all terrian fault my list was bad. it consisted of

naked chaos lord

2 10man cultist squad

lord of skulls with skullhurler

Decimater with butcher cannon and mark of khorne

Contemptor fists with plasma blaster and melta and mark of Khorne

Helbrute with 2 fists and 1 heavy flamer

bloodslaughter.

The first game was versus eldar with 2 squads of fire dragons, 4 wave serpents, 3 war walkers with dual brightlances, wraithkhinght warlord, and extra odds and ends. was rough but it was the only game the blood slaughter survived and it butchered the warlord.

the second game versus sisters with 2 knights. charged knight through cover with lord of skulls knight swings first and gave me a double taste of D removing the lord of skulls.

third game got thunderhammered by thunderwolves to death.

fourth game. met the cerberus. it took 8 hull points off in first round. notbeing able to shoot in my turn hurt died to death and glory during thunderblitz.

fifth game. found a white scars biker list that had lost 4 games? that is crazy. the melta and grav ate all the hull points.

Here are some pics of the Best Appearance army. I played against him and I must say that his army was gorgeous. BTW, Best Appearance was voted on by the players and not by the judges.

You can see more of his army in my upcoming TSHFT battle reports.

So, roughly 13 tyranids, and only 2 Demons? Sounds like an interesting meta.

I think some people get grumpy over best painted being a propainted army. I don't care I ship stuff out to get painted so I usually have 1 or two items in every army I didn't paint.

Due to to the possibility of people running armies they didn't paint themselves (either pro-painted or just a borrowed army) I'm happy with paint scores not factoring into overall score. I'm happy with a "3 colors and based" requirement for prize eligibility though. I think at previous TSHFT events, paint was a significant portion of overall score, and the paint points included things like conversions, so if you had a completely stock army that was really well painted but had no conversions, you couldn't get full paint points. Or at least that's how I understood things.

It was a very significant portion of the points, however because of that I think it led to armies that were not as optimized as they could be, able to hang with the hardcore gamers.

I know I spent countless hours converting, basing, varnishing, and often inking details into my miniatures. I do it largely for the pleasure of doing so, but it is really nice to have that effort rewarded by an in depth painting score at tshft. I would say that there was a distinct difference in the feel of the tournament this year. Much of its unique flavor turned into just another big tournament.

The competition was certainly the highest I have seen in the multiple TSHFTs that I have attended. There were few people out there for a stroll on a Sunday. Seemingly half the field had either multiple flyrants or knights.

But that's not to say that it was all bare plastic. Most armies were nicely painted (regardless of who painted them, it's nice to play against a painted force). Everyone I played was cool and relaxed, every participant I talked to echoed those sentiments.

Guy who brought the 5 flyrants was a pleasant chap as was his brother who jammed the relic into a 4++ stompa. The grav cav and flying bakery with knight players I faced were also fantastic sports. I don't mind facing an uphill battle as long as the opponent is not being unpleasant and everyone I faced had a genial attitude.
