I love the fire prism look, and the cannons stats are awesome, providing an allaround approach to an othewise specialised army. All this for a very resonable price.
But they always perform horribly bad with big misses, failure to wound/pen, and finaly explodes without having done anything remarkable.
I always reach for my two prisms, but much like a lab rat offered cheese with electric shocks, my experience scream "NO!"

I would take a falcon or a fire prism. I love the look of them. But this is for a small army (1000pts) I'm worried I'll lose it in the first turn and then have no heavy firepower.

Best heavy support.
Well then Its even more simple.
Wraith knight.
Its not a question. Everyone who says otherwise is posting their favorite heavy support, and not the best.
Falcons are garbage. So are dark reapers in competitive games.

Best without specs is relative.
Falcon really exemplifies the Eldar, and has a lot of fun.
Reapers are a good example of swordwind Eldar.
Wraithlord really fits the tone of Wraiths (slow heavy hitters that are tough to bring down) *much* better than Knights, and lends itself to a mutually-enjoyable game much more readily as well.
Similar things can be said about the other options too.
There isn't much doubt that the WK is the strongest-per-point option in HS for Eldar, but that is only one metric of 'best'. If some people want to do a small 750pt demo game for new players, the Knight really isn't the best choice.

It depends on your opponent though. Generally WKs are the best option, but againt hordes etc, Vaul's and WW can both be better.

^that.
Taking more than 1 WK in any list except pure mechdar is too one-dimensional. WK does jack and squat against hordes, are mediocre against MSU and can be wiped clean off the table by a few Venoms. Best Eldar HS is a diverse one.

Best makes this very short: WK. If you can only take one HS, it will always be a WK. Past one HS slot you probably wnant to deversify, but at least one WK will be in every single competitive Eldar list.
The rest have some merits, but the ubiquity of WK's speaks for itself.

I agree. You might be able to get away with 2, but at 3 its rock paper scissors.
