Man, I wish I could do 315. Most I can do is 125. I mean I can do 10 reps 3 times, but that isnt impressive.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Keep grinding.

Im kidding, I get squats in quite a bit, just not every workout and its a bummer. especially when I have to workout late in the day because 7am classes. But I get them in 3 times a week.

As a former power lifter, this is exactly how i herniated L4-5, and L5-S1. I'm now lining up surgery to fix an injury that happened 13 years ago which ended a law enforcement (my dream since a kid) and amateur MMA career just as both were getting off the ground.

Be careful. If you are straining that much for a maximum single lift to figure out your target zones, you should have a spotter.

I remember when i was young and invincible and ignored all the good advice i got from other serious lifters. This should be a wake up call : if that left hand barbell landed on a hand or halfway down your foot instead of on the floor like it did, you'd be a partial amputee right now (fingers, toes is what i mean).

Anywho... glad you're okay. Sorry if this came off preachy. Seen way too many people get really permanently fethed up working out in not the smartest ways they should. Use a spotter next time for max lift attempts. It's for exactly this reason you should do so!

I mean, it's Dakka. I thought snide arguments from emotion were what we did here.

So wait, there are instances where you catch. But only specific ones? So my statement was right, as I indicated BOTH in my statement; catching and helping.

No, and I honestly have no idea how you arrived at that conclusion on the basis of my comments.

Gee Golly, are you sure? What would happen? Would they push it into the neck of the lifter? Dur whodathunk!

Why are you being so defensive?

 cincydooley wrote:

Sure, if you say so. Or you just bail on the lift, which is really easy to do on a front squat. Only reason it didn't happen here is because Trex blacked out.

No, it happened because he thought SRM would be a cool thing to film without spotters.

True enough, though nutrition is also critical.

Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.
