Thanks bud. Managed to sit down to do a little hobby for the first time in a week. The second objective marker is all finished, with the wraithguard primed for painting. Put the first layer on the leaves quickly.

Sorry it's been a while since I posted. Been busy with work and family things over the Easter weekend, but I did sit down to do some work on the wraithguard. Three are now finished, and the remaining two have their bases ready for adding the final bits. I hope to get these finished this Sunday. What to work on next?

Top stuff again. Though I'm curious why you didn't leave the heads separate and prime them white?

Thanks bud, after painting them, I do wish now that I had kept the heads separate, just got a bit carried away when building, won't be making that mistake again.

Thanks very much. The five wraithguard are all finished. Really like these models, I will definitely add some wraithblades in the future. I grabbed a wave serpent and some dire avengers for the next parts of the army. I was going to go for jetbikes but will wait a while with all the eldar rumours going around at the moment. I also found a few classic warlocks to paint up for the army.

Did a little bit on the project this week, amongst some other hobby. Putting off doing much more until I get my hands on the new codex to see how my original list works, and to see if it even still fits within the tournament rules. However I did model up my version of Prince Yriel, as its a model I've wanted to work on for a long time. Constructed a nice base for him, being a character and just did a simple head swap and took off any Iyanden symbols.

I do have to say that the new jetbikes look fantastic and will be looking to make sure they are still included if I change the army list at all.

Damn fine stuff! Love the bases and the clean technique! Look forward to seeing more!

So I finally got hold of the codex and have tried to come up with a good idea, there's so much in there. With the new list I have tried to keep a lot of the original idea. The wraithknight has been dropped as the tournament we are going to doesn't allow gargantuan creatures/super heavies. Let me know what you think.

Time to now get painting again after taking a little break to work on a few other projects. Prince yriel will be up next, I'm looking forward to painting this one.

Some seriously good stuff here, I'm going to be keeping tabs on this! I really like the way you've flipped the colour scheme of Biel-Tan and made it your own, the bases are magnificent and go really well with the aesthetics of Eldar. As someone who also has a crimson hunter (mine is still on the sprue), I assume you've airbrushed it to get that smooth a coat?

Hi, thanks for the comment. Yes, I airbrushed the Crimson hunter, I tend to you an airbrush for the first base coat on mini, and a few steps further on large models such as vehicles. Need more practice before I start trying to highlight infantry models with an airbrush.

Finally got a bit more painting done this week, for the first time in a while. The base for Yriel is almost complete, just to add a few final details once the prince is finished. I've also started putting the base colours on Yriel himself, trying to work out how I want him to look. I would love to try and get more hobby done this week, work depending, and I will show pictures as it happens.

So a week after the last post I finally managed to sit down with a free day for painting today... and finished Prince Yriel. Was a little worried half way through painting that he would look a little 'busy', there is just so many small details on the model, but in the end I am happy with him. Next model will a the wave serpent, and so building will commence this week.

Wow. Great stuff! I especially like the Asian theme, works in well with the Eldars "Shuriken" weaponry.

I love when people put this kind of effort into their bases. Really makes the models pop and its really cohesive.

Thanks for the feedback, it's good to hear that people are liking the look of the army, it helps to keep the motivation for working on the army as usually I move between projects very quickly.

The Wave Serpent is built and primed and being kept in a few separate pieces for ease of painting. I am currently toying with the idea of trying a freehand design on top of the serpent, but not having done much freehand before am looking at ways to test if its in my capability. The plan is to paint all pieces except the top panel, and then sketch a few ideas on paper before trying it on the model. I'll post the ideas as get to them.

A little bit of painting this weekend, finished a few of the extra details for the wave serpent and the shuriken cannon. The target is to complete the cockpit and the bright lance turret before moving on to the hull. I also had a go at sketching a design for the top, and think I have come up with something I would be happy with. Now its just to work out how I put this onto the model.

Got distracted from the painting by an idea (not mine) to convert an avatar from the gamesworkshop plastic treeman kit. The treeman kit shoud allow me to have a unique looking piece to the army, and at the same time keep the theme. After having a look through the pieces I started to put a bit together and have the head and upper torso of the model. There are a lot of spare pieces in the kit and it appears to be very pose-able. With the kit so far a neck and head swap have changed the direction of the treeman ancients pose and his 'beard' has become the avatars hair. Also Durthu's face is suitably aggressive. What do you think so far?

I hadn't seen that blog, looks very cool. It was a random picture seen on facebook that I 'borrowed' the idea from.

Progress on the Wave Serpent continues. I have now finished all pieces except the top panel, which needs highlighting and the details painted. It will then be time to have a go at freehand, which I may reduce in size from the sketch above. Just a few transfers to add after then all complete.

These are stunning mini's! Great painting and creativity, wish I could be half as good that.

Thanks very much. I've only been painting myself for a little over two years and just try to learn from other hobbyists, and believe everyone can get to this standard with a bit of practice. I would love to have the patience to learn more advanced techniques and take my painting up a level.

The wave serpent is now finished. Not sure how I feel about the finished model with the freehand. Left the extras off the front in the end, and may find another use for them on something else, possibly on an objective marker.

Looks great. I would like a couple more close photos, so I can see the tree, gems and edge highlighting more clearly.

In a building mood at the moment so carried on with the avatar conversion and a base. Didn't do much in the way of changing bits on the figure except making use of the different treeman pieces to make it look aggressive and give him a spear by combining the sword and staff. I really like the pose, and enjoyed putting the base together for this model. I'm going to carry on and do a bit more building next while I've got the motivation!
