My biggest fear is that we've entered a phase where GW doesn't re-do old models but just keeps making new units.

No redone models? Dark Eldar had Wracks, Archon, and Succubus changed over to plastic. Necrons got a plastic overlord. Nids got plastic Zoanthropes/Venomthropes. Blood Angels got their own plastic Tactical marines and Assault Terminators (and Tatical Marines were just updated for vanilla marines as well)

I wouldn't worry about old kits being redone. Especially heralds. They have a plastic Nurgle Herald on foot (but no chariot/palanquin herald) and are missin a few other herald options- Khorne, Slaanesh, and Tzeentch foot plastics, Khorne on Juggernaut and Tzeentch on disc plastic (though the latter you can easily make from the Tzeentch chariot kit) and Slaanesh on seeker period.
Besides the other three GDs and various herald variants, there are very few Daemon kits that need updating at all- Khorne Hounds, Nurgle Beasts, Slaanesh Fiends, and Unaligned Furies.

Your forgot Harlequins.

But they're adding so much more and just not re-doing things. Sure, Wracks got redone, but why not the Incubi? Ok, they made a plastic Overlord, but what about the Flayed Ones?

Translation to new material does not count - GW believe that is to GW's benefit, that has nothing to do with a desire to update a poor or badly aged design. If the two coincide, then that's just luck.

LOL! I definitely want to see someone do that sculpt...

Yeah well take a look: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer/Warhammer_Monsters/GREAT-UNCLEAN-ONE-GREATER-DAEMON-OF-NURGLE.html

I meant a sculpt using an actual lumpy potato.

Can't see Azreal's pics, so I don't know if he used an actual potato

Advantage of using an actual potato is that shrinks and wrinkles as it dries out...

I just hope new models=new rules.
Ill be sure to get the new thirster, but it will be just for showcase for now.
My daemons have been unused since 7th dropped (because they are useless now).

How so? I run Daemons and I think they actually do really well (especially now that the few vehicles they have got a buff from the Vehicle Damage chart)

But it's an incredible model too, genuinely upsetting and funny at the same time.

No need to take the discussion here, but now that you mention vehicle rules, my bloodthirster dont stand a chanse against an Ironclad, as an example.

Good call, it's beautiful.

From the initial Age of Sigmar news thread, when its "feature" list was first confirmed:

Yay! Let us all promote the FW model with our own GUOs!

@Azreal13:
Excellent paint job!

Here comes my fatty:

http://aleatorblog.de/seven-chants-for-the-great-unclean-one/

Regarding a new GUO from GW ... well I don't think that it would be a good idea to release him as the next greater Daemon. The other 3 FW versions were really not my cup of tea, especially the Bloodthirster. Would appreciate it if Slaanesh and Tzeentch would get some love from GW first (even if I'm a Nurgle Player). I'm quite fond of the potato-look for the GUO and will give it a try to bug my hippie friends with him, too

Another reason to not release the GUO next is a mix of Nurgle fatigue (Nurgle just got a wave of models like 6 months back) and to capitalize on that release. People will buy Glottkin models to make into GUOs for a while until later the GUO is released. Meanwhile a Lord of Change (with alternate builds, potentially a 2 headed option) would get a lot of people into Tzeentch, instead of adding one model to a Nurgle or Khornate army.

I would argue that the bait-and-switch of the WD Flamers and Screamers got some people into Tzeentch.
