Really nice complementary colors, rich and they go so well together. The blending/shading is fantastic and the face has come out really well.

Thanks man! Nice to hear the colours work . Faces for me are inconsistent, sometimes ok, other times they're a bit manky x).

bebopdrums2424 wrote:Nice job ckig. That green looks like fun to paint!

Thanks! it's actually quite simple, just yellow green, green ink and ivory/white. Though the yellow green is hard to get an even coat with like all light colours D:

Here's my next model from Dark Age finished. Another tubby Brute

Good model to practice painting skin tones on some muscle.

A bit of colour here and there..

View of his backside.

And the end result.

I get lazy towards the end so the base is a bit rushed.. oops

Still a couple more of these guys to go.

Up next though, maybe some malifaux, or back to infinity

Thanks!

Lovely work as always ckig, though, if I may say, compared your other works, this fellow looks unfinished. I'm not sure what it is that Is making me feel this way. Perhaps it's the thing he's holding as a weapon, looks like it's wrapped in brown paper...not sure. But What do I know, It's lovely either way I do quite enjoy seeing your work!

Thanks! Yeah definitely take a look, though half their stuff is still kinda old and needs to be resculpted. But they're getting there.

GrimDork wrote:Model looks great, wish I could get myself to slow down a bit more and at least *try* to approach how pretty you make models

Haha i hate my speed! It's too slow and I still have much to learn. Thanks though ^^ you're stuff still looks great.

Thanks for the feedback! hmm... do you think it's just because of the colours, or something else? Any advice is appreciated! What would you recommend. Your stuff looks awesome so I trust your judgement

i think its that im used to seeing a few more degrees of edge highlights on your other projects. Some of the materials on his person are hard to identify. Like im assuming its nmm on the shoulder pad, but it could be stone? if its nmm it needs more contrast i think. The pants i think could use a little more high lighting too? dont get me wrong, its great painting! I dont mean to sound picky, but i expect the same from you in hopes of improving my game Im a fan of yours so i hope you dont mind my open thoughts

I see your points about the extra highlights though. I notice it more now that you point it out xD so thanks! I'll get around to touching him up along with the next big brute.

Still learning my techniques. A long way to go but practice practice practice

These guys also make great crossovers as a type of Ogryns if you felt inclined to field a IG army (I hate the new name).

Haha yeah the name change really wasn't necessary imo. I could never do a whole IG army though! I'd never get it painted lol

Haven't been painting much unfortunately :(

Testing out my Yu Jing scheme on a Bao troop to see how it works. Here he is currently:

Loincloth not sure whether to keep it purple or maybe go with white.

Brown straps might go. Maybe olive or dark green instead.

Green armour is done. He reminds me of a turtle.

Hopefully I can get him done soon..

Since I have lots more waiting...

Bunch of new stuff has arrived!

Reinforcements for PanO

And Nomads:
More Bakunin

Plus Corregidor

And all the new Yu Jing Heavies

Think I have enough to keep me busy for a while

That's it today. Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking!

I like the green alot! A whole army will look great. I'm kinda jelly, I wanna paint that green too but you thought of it first not sure of your spot colors...are you married to them? What about the cloth? Curious to see more of where you decide to go with this one!

Thanks! The brown was more to just block ni the straps so I could distinguish them from the pants etc. Sometimes it's hard to tell with these infinity figs

Caught a glimpse of Sun Tze before he disappeared. That's awesome and thank you! Something I never expected

Thanks bebop! Haha I'm sure you'd do an amazing job at it! Your'e welcome to paint however you like. Good thing I don't claim to own the colour

I'm probably going to roll with the purple since I've started with it. The other colours well, I'm not dead set. I'm really just winging things as I go so I am always open to suggestions

shasolenzabi wrote:Nice Infinity Minis!

Thanks man. I'll try paint em up as fast as I can (which is not very lol).

Quick update on the Bao

Finished the arms and legs. Swapped the brown for green. Almost done!

I think the green works better than the brown. I think I imagined it to be a darker green but everything I paint ends up light and bright lol. That's just how it is I guess

C&C always welcome! Thanks!

@ Shas: Thanks! Glad you like it ^^

@ Bebop: Thanks man! The pink and green sound pretty funky too. Would love to see that!

Finished the Bao finally!

Embarrassing close up pics
You can see the mess up close heh

I need to take some better pics for you too. I'm sorry :x

The loincloth was original white but I didn't like how it turned out so switched to safe purple. Need to tidy things up a bit give it some matt varnish it to tone down the glossy ink.

And finished!

So that's him. There's still three more of them to go. But maybe something else next. We shall see!

Thanks!

Thanks guys!

That's a nice metallic green there Shas.

It's been a long while since the last update. Sorry! I'm making it a new goal to check in at least a couple times a week. That should keep me on track.

I haven't been totally idle though! Another one of my goals is to complete one of the dakka monthly challenges
Here's what I'm trying to get done for this month's "Fast and Furious":

It's Yojimbo's bike by the way. I went with purple to tie him in with my other Yu Jing stuff but keep him different to the other Yu Jing bikes, so green for the Aragoto bikers.

Also been trying to catchup with some painting on the rest of my Bao squad. I've been painting them all at once. Look at me trying to batch paint.. sort of.. well it's only small batch lol. They almost done:

Just need to highlight the black and the gold, and some minor touchups etc.

I think I've sacrificed a little quality to speed things up but that's ok. In all honesty, after painting a bao trooper already and then painting three more is a bit tiring lol. I'll finish them soon but hoping to get Yojimbo done first

Thanks for looking guys! Hope to check in again soon

Ummm.. I don't have one fully unpainted lol oops

This is the earliest I have which was a couple days ago lol:

Just had the base down and starting the first highlights D:

If it doesn't count that's ok. There's always a next time

No worries, that'll do nicely for now! Next time an unpainted/primed shot would be best, but that's fine for now.

Hello!

The other day the missus remarked that I hadn't painted in while.. and that really hit me! It's true. Been so busy with work and other stuff bu no longer! I am back, for good this time, with a vengeance

The unpainted pile has continued to mount and its time for some action.

So first up the old Bao's that have been sitting on my desk for a while.

Here's another pic of one:

Couple of rough spots but I just wanted to get them done and move on. I will get a group shot with the rest but one's arm has fallen off so I'll need to fix that up first.

... I know I didn't get to finish Yojimbo :( sorry! He is still here but I've been motivated to paint something else at the moment.

Next on my Infinity list, the big Yan Huo:

I've been wanting to paint this guy for a while and he is great! In fact all the new Infinity stuff is really nice to paint, makes me not want to go back to the older stuff. The models just go together better, the slightly bigger size is easier to paint and the details are much clearer and defined; it's great.

It's a big model, so far I've painted a leg haha but so far I am enjoying it.

Certainly a very imposing and impressive model.

Quite happy with how it's turned out. We shall see how the rest of it will go I've left the guns off for now until the end.

Anyway that's not all. I've also been dabbling into the Batman Miniature Game. Great range of models by Knight Models.

I wanted to paint something simply and easy just to get me back into it, so here is the League of Shadows.

Ras himself, he has an unsually large head by the way..

Simple enough model but it was hard to paint his suit.

And i may have overdone the highlighting on his back :p

And his posse

Ying
The ninja's were fairly easy and quicker than usual to paint with a simple colour scheme.

Yang
So I'm not sure if it's the casting or just the sculpt but there is not much of a face to paint. You can try paint eyes there but there's just this void in the space so I couldn't really do much.

And Lotus

Here's the group all together.

So I would say... knight models have some great sculptors and the models are fairly accurate, however there's a fairly big difference in the scale between models. E.g. these guys are huge in comparison to the other models in the Batman range. I am not sure if it's just the models based on the movie; I've also got the BB Scarecrow and DKR Bane and they are also equally big (Bane even moreso but I can overlook him because he's Bane!). And then you have the Arrow from the TV series who is tiny! I will have to get a comparison pic up. People talk about the scale diffrence in Infinity but I think this is worse than that even. Doesn't mean they are bad models by any means, they just look odd together sometimes. Also I feel like knight models need to up their casting quality, sometimes it's a bit hard to tell where the flash ends and the models starts in some cases, and I may have overtrimmed a few bits. Overall I would put the models behind new Infinity and the new Dark Age stuff in terms of quality and how well they fit together.

Anyway that's enough from me for now. Thanks for stopping, and I will be back soon to keep at it!
