I actually had the same problem with this guy who thought he was such hot gak, get the manager or force him to read the rules with you.

Lol. Have an ignore button my trolling friend. I wouldn't want illiterates playing SM anyway.
To the OP: grow a little spine. Next time it comes up, ask him to read the rules aloud, then pull the store manager over to clarify if he can't/won't follow/understand rules like our friend Warsaw here.
It actually is that easy.

LOL. I'm not sure if you're trolling, being sarcastic, or serious, man.
Space Marines can fail Morale (not moral I'm sure the Emperor's finest are very moral) checks, but they DON'T run away. They are immune to being destroyed in a sweeping advance (they stay locked in combat). Because, even when demoralized, they do not flee.
Pinning occurs when there are a hail of fire from unknown sources (or something like that), and you drop to the ground to avoid getting shot. When you Go to Ground you get a +1 cover save or a 6 cover save if you have no cover. That's not being chicken.. that's being halfway intelligent about getting shot at when you're not sure where the gunfire is coming from.
Well they do flee from combat if they roll higher on their initiative but then they are free to charge in again or rapid fire the enemy to bits in the next turn. Marines are always portrayed as being very tactically aware and will seldom just stand still and be murdered when a fighting retreat is more tactically sound (guess they just have no concept of where the board edge is the fools!). Likewise marines don't often advance through open ground getting shelled to bits when it's more tactically sound to hunker down and wait for relief elements.
Course as soon as a squad realizes they've been duped their whole lives and that the empra is actually dead all that tactics stuff goes right out the window and its every aspiring champion for themselves.

Well for the minotuars chaper they (apparently) recuit DIRECTLY from terra, and have volunteers join (like the black templars) instead of forcing them to join.
However they are HIGHLY xenophobic and despise xenos and mutants
The first 2 points are what the minotuars do
The rest is what they dont do
(They claim to be the emperors lap dogs/time travellers that pilfered the prop department of 300 for their gear)

I personally would refuse to play that guy until he is willing to read the rule book and accept what's there in black and white.
Even if you did let that one slide, where does this kind of thing stop? There could be a key moment in a game where he decides to disregard/argue against other rules too. If he disregards the rules then you are not playing 40k with him, but a game that is just being made up as you go along and where's the point in that?
Like previous posters have said, open up the rulebook, and get the store manager over if need be (it is part of their job to assist customers after all) and ask him politely to explain it to your cheating opponent. If that fails and he argues against both the rulebook and the store manager, then definitely find someone else to play with as all you'll be doing is banging your head against a brick wall of ignorance.

Just go for it. ATSKNF is outright superior to Fearless in every way, shape or form, so if he's nerfing himself out of stubborness, just roll with it.
Basically this - except when you are standing on the board edge and fail a leadership - it will never happen. Automatically Appended Next Post: KonTheory wrote:What I usually do when someone is blatantly being moronic,

Think of it this way:
"Fearless" is essentially, mindless. That's a swarm of ravenous tyranid bugs under the direct control of a hivemind that if it makes sense to the hivemind that these creatures would occupy the enemy by charging directly into a flamethrower and rifle line and literally all die, they will do it.
ATSKNF is fearless, but intelligent. The biggest scariest most badass commando on earth will still hit the dirt when he comes under fire from somewhere he can't see, or may withdraw from an overwhelming assault to counter-attack later. That's what Space Marines are doing. They're not afraid but they're not suicidal either.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |

Standing ground is not fitting marines at all IMHO.
They are shock troopers, fast deployed force. Get out of combat, make another shooting round and charge again if you so desire to maximise your damage output. That is much better.
I personaly thinks Fearless is not so usefull as alot of people make it to be.

It does surprise me how little people read the relevant rules for their armies.
I could fathom people not knowing every little rule, but ATSKNF is a pretty big part of playing marines.
The only thing you can do is show the guy the rulebook. If that doesn't work then suggest a local reading comprehension teacher for them and find different opponents in the meantime.

Refuse to play the guy. If you get matched up with him in a tournament or something and he refuses to agree, call over a store manager or the TO and have him show this guy the rulebook.
There's lots of cheaters out there, but this seems like pure stupidity.
