Thanks , happier with him than i thought i would be. Really wish i had kept the Abdomen separate while painting tho, the wings and legs getting in the way made painting the Black/Yellow an exercise in frustration.

Managed to get the second Skeeter done!..
Here he is pre base and varnish...
And a couple of him finished...
A family portrait of the crew so far, try not to pay to much attention to my filthy PC desk!..
Found a solution to the mess! Throw down a towel (cleaning is for pussies) and it will cover your shame and make the pics better!..
Gonna start prepping and assembling the Slop Haulers and 4 metal Bayou Gremlins tonight, i figure once i have a Slop Hauler i might actually be able to play a game!

Thanks! Am really pleased with how they have come out considering my low expectations when i started them, i didn't really have an idea at first how to do them so didn't really have a huge amount of enthusiasm. Was convinced they would be terrible but have been pleasantly surprised by the results!

Been a while since last post, would love to have some amazing important reason but in truth i made the fatal mistake of giving Diablo 3 another try and lost 2 weeks of my life down a black hole! Have started to get back to making progress on my 'lil green horde now tho and actually had my first game a couple of days ago! I got pwned but was fun and i learned a lot, heres a few pics of my progress...
Slop Hauler No1 still lacking highlights on his cloths...
All done, waiting for base...
And all finished, the lighting in these pics doesn't seem to do him justice and im not 100% happy especially with the jeans + hat...
Slop Hauler No2 progress, he just needs basing so should have him sorted by tomorrow then onto the metal Bayou Gremlins!..
Something else i finally got round to sorting out is the transport solution, magnets and a baking tray! Everyone seems to have doubts about this but i swear by it, they aint moving for gak and are so quick to get on and of the table. Not only that but you could fit probably 60 minis in there with no friction against foam, cant recommend this method enough...
The wooden board with base holes cut in seemed like a great idea as i was worried about lateral movement, turns out despite looking rather neat it was a silly thing to do as their really is no lateral movement to worry about (i can spin it round and smack the bottom like a drum and nothing budges) and it forces you to pick them up by the mini not the base which is bad. Luckily i did buy 2 cake tins so just using the plain one for now until i get round to ripping out the board...

Finished the first two of my metal Bayou Gremlins, pretty happy with em but they a fine example of how much the varnish can take away from your work :(
Heres a couple of in production shots, first with just base coats down second with the flesh and a few other details shaded...
Heres a couple of them almost finished, just needs the hat and bases done before varnishing...
And the finished articles varnished and ready to play...
Just 3 more Bayou Gremlins and a Warpig and i gots me a really nice Somer Crew ready to play at last

Your pigs look great, they tread that line between realistic and cartoony without crossing too far into either. I think that really fits Malifaux's style.
Your storage solution is interesting. I'm trying to figure out how to move them around myself. One downside to the M2E style is everything is so thin that you can't put them in a normal carry case and not expect breakage from the foam pressing on stuff. I was considering a biscuit tin and rare earth magnets. What size did you use to make them fit flush?

Cartoonish is exactly what i am going for, bright colors highly defined. I am pretty happy with the pigs but two of them look a bit sunburned, i stupidly changed the base color for em even tho the first one looked spot on.
The magnets work much better than i had ever dreamed they would, so much so in fact that i have removed the wooden insert i placed in the baking tray. I was worried about lateral movement but those guys aint budging at all (The metal ones slide a small amount if i shake the tray VERY hard but some electrical tape on the surface will solve that) the wooden insert has had the unintended side effect of forcing me to pick them up by the mini which is problematic for many of em.
You want magnets that are 1.5mm thick for the bases and i used 8mm diameter size, heres a link to the exact ones i bought... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371017744242?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Great looking band Gantoris.
I don't know much about Malifaux, but the models are silly as hell. They are so fun, full of character.
Your painting seems good. Maybe a little more blending on the skins could help, but they already look good. The color scheme fits perfectly with the theme, as do the bases.
By the way, I'd be interested in explanations on how you did the bases. I've seen some step by step pictures, but no explanations. To be more precise I have no idea how you make the mud on the center of this base :

Thanks!
Malifaux is a really fun game, all the factions are very cartoonish and interesting and it uses a deck of cards instead of rolling dice which gives it a very unique feel. I have been enjoying it a lot, its worth a look and the minis are excellent.
I start very dark on the skins, trying to get a highly defined cartoon look. Your right many could do with more layers am still trying to master that.
The bases are really simple, i use poly filler (stuff decorators use to fill cracks and holes in a wall before they paint) mixed with a little sand. This is the brand i have been using... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ronseal-MPRMF12VP-Multi-Purpose-Interior-Percent/dp/B0046QCZE8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1439756068&sr=8-4&keywords=ronseal but you could use any including the powder stuff that needs to be mixed with water.
It gives a nice mud effect once painted brown and drybrushed, then a gloss varnish and its perfect.

Have you considered putting some clump foilage onto your bases to add a little more depth to them? I think you could do it easily and turn up something decent.
I'm also wondering if there are enough Malifaux players on Dakka who might be interested in doing some sort of group build. Maybe everyone grab a started box and paint it up. Would give you an excuse to grab any you don't have and give you a change of pace on the Bayou Gremlins.

I am open to any new ideas for the bases, still pretty newly returned to the hobby so horizons fairly narrow. The key as that they look swampy like they from the Bayou!
I wouldnt mind being part of some sort of group project, would prolly resist anything but Gremlins tho! This was supposed to be a quick little project to get me a skitmish game to play while i did larger things (40k army ect) and its rapidly taking over my life, trying to at least keep to my "only one faction" rule even if it seems im gonna have to have all of that faction!

Those feels! I've just started to throw paint on my 10T horde, but have inexplicably started buying Ressers too?!
The grems look great Gathering more and more respect for the faction as I read up on them, some scary power behind the shenanigans!

Yeh they seem to have potential, ive had a few games now and they can hold their own well. The Bayou Gremlins dont seem like much but when they get Somers/Lennys buffs can become a terrifying gunline.
I have learned to hate Leveticus tho, he seems to be unstoppable if your force is made a horde of low wound minis :(

Hey anyone that might care, sorry been no more Whisky and Bacon for a while but had some very serious personal issues to contend with lately and neglected my hobby time for quite a while. Recently have been getting busy and gonna dump a bunch of updates up here starting with the last Bayou Gremlin and the Warpig!..
Didnt really do any in progress shots of these guys but here they are pre based...
And here they are finished and based...
Heres another stage by stage sequence of how i make my bases for anyone that likes my muddy look...
... The white stuff is multipurpose polyfilla mixed with a little sand...
... Put down some basecoats and start drybrushing, all very quick and easy...
... Finish the drybrushing everything then tody up around the edge...
... Gloss varnish for the mud and Matt everywhere else and were ready for the minis..
Will be more coming very soon!
