Honestly a thug isn't much more at only 20GC, and gets a lot more utility out of it (being able to grab loot, better stats and can use a magic item), and the difference of 10GC is pretty negligible compared to how much you can get per token, even if you roll a 1 on the loot table.

Unless you mean starting warbands, in which case I do get what you mean for space filler mind though (Wilbur the Warpig will be riding proud with my band ), The warhound is really the only space filler option for spare gold outside of what, giving your wizards a dagger? There doesn't seem to much to do if you've filled your warband roster and still have 10 or 20gc left :/

Edit: On an unrelated note, I love how the spells seem to have no generally "bad" picks . Though my Soothsayer I forsee having some trouble with very little access to direct damage spells :(

I think thematically it might be quite a cool thing to have a hound or two in the band.

The sigillists have got a real 'Witch-hunter' vibe going with them, you could imagine the classic witch-hunter archetype guy with a pointed hat and studded leather armour with the hounds on leads. Or some 'chaos knight' or barbarian with a horned helm, model him as though he is taking the hounds for a walk - then release them as the game starts

Dogs are useful. One of our games last weekend involved two wolves coming on as wandering monsters, very close to a treasure token that one of my thieves had his eye on. Fortunately I had a doggy nearby as backup, and used it to tie up the wolves till I had the treasure safely in hand.
