Not an AoS fan, but this is the best use of the Stormcast models I have seen.

I think you did a really good, subtle job on the Archangel of Hope, too. Nice work!

So! Everyone, thanks for all the great comments you've given my army so far. It's been a while since I have posted in this topic, but! I have actually been working on my army since then. I will be posting up pictures as soon as I am able but suffice to say that I am laying my final touches on the remaining angels. Sadly since the stormcasts have no wizards I started working on a stormcast on dragon for the Angel of fate (to count as Malekith in the game). No not the new star drake, I started this months ago but seeing the stardrake coming soon I figured it was time to get back to work on it. As I am a bit sick at the moment i find myself being home and working on hobby projects to pass the time, so I figured I'd catch up on my blog a bit. I'll post up a group shot of all 5 angels soon >:3. Consider this a teaser for those of you who still care!

  • Goddin:
    - Yup, I have a cheap set of jewelers tools including a very small drill/polishing machine/engraving pen that i use to sand down the faces for the arch angels, the regular angels will just hae their features painted black because they aren't as cool

    - Most of it is the stormcast eternals from the starter set and the liberator box so far. Wood elf glade guard and the Wildwood rangers for some of the head, dark angels terminator command set for some others. And then auriel's stave is a combination of two wildwood ranger glaves and the spear from the lion chariot. If you need anything more speccific I'll probably have to look at the individual mini's again and think really hard since i tend to just plunder my bitsbox incesantly.

Alright guys, I took some shots of Malthael as I was painting him today. He is still very much WIP but I figure I should actually post some real updates now so here goes! As always, let me know what you think!

Your models look awesome, and so do the paintjobs. Where are Malthael's wings from?

So, just came across this thread, got attracted in by the "Diablo inspired" in the title as I am a bit of a Blizzard lover.

I have to say, these models you shared with us are awesome, you have really captured the essence of each character in your modelling and painting... kudos to you and i'm subscribing for sure!

  • Ashenwyte:
    - Thanks man, that really gives me a boost of confidence to hear , Malthael's wings come from the Morghast Archai kit. They are a bit big for most model's but they work pretty well with the body of the Night bringer in my opinion.

  • Mad..
    - I tried my best to stick as close to the character's as I could without completely re-sculpting the minis to get every single detail right. For one blizzards art work for their characters is wildly inconsistent (especially Malthael!), so i would have probably driven myself nuts if i went for perfection. All in all though I think they came out pretty damn great and I am generally very pleased with how close I DID get . I'll be finishing up Malthael after Easter here for a bit and then move on to finishing a few squads of paladins to fill out the rest of the army, so look forwards to more!
