We could begin a very long discussion on the merits and demerits of Age of Sigmar and why i think the Stormcast Eternals are awesome and why some think they aren't. But I'd rather just get on with the pictures of my mini's. I'm a lousy painter who takes many short cuts using washes and the like, my camera sucks too. I am well aware of these things. But I still love my models and want to share them, so I'll take the plunge and post them up anyway. if you see something cool through the gakky paintjobs then awesome, if you don't then well at least they are out there! All of these are in various stages of work in progress because i honestly have a hard time sticking to 1 miniature until its completely finished, sorry about that!

Lets start with the obvious one, Tyrael!


The tip of his hammer and head are magnetized so I can swap out for the two pronged spear and the helmeted head with halo, but I'm mostly going to use this guy as just a generic angel commander so he is only Imperius SOME of the time.


This is going to be the colour scheme for most of the regular troops in the army, all the (arch) angels get golden armour and wings but these guys get white.


This is my retributor prime, all the primes also get golden armour but the blue/green shoulderpad and accents motif is still present on them to tie them in with the rest of the army.

Quick update on the mounted lord, this time with the spear and Imperius head for comparison. Also its like after midnight so I took the photo with flash, sorry! (i also took of the wings for ease of painting, they will go back on when they are done)

A quick update on my progress, Just finished painting the Lord Celestant on Dracoth that is based on Imperius in my army. Here are some shots:







Next up is Tyrael, and then hard at work for the rest of the Angiris council. I want to start on Auriel first. I'm thinking of ordering valkia and replacing her lower legs and arms with stormcast pieces and a hooded head from one of my space marines, anyone happen to have a liberator and valkia that could throw me a size comparison shot to see if this is worth pursuing or if i should just take some GS to a regular prosecutor?

for me the whole scenario of AoS screams Diablo...and as a player from the first game i have to say, that is not something too bad......

so i totally share your approach on the models, love the conversions you already did...the cowls (DA sprue?) looks vvery fitting...

i am still thinking wether i should get me some starter box liberators or the winged ones (forgot the name...) the wings are a pretty nifty piece... will you, if you want to kit out every model with them go bitz hunting?...good luck with that...

You have definitley captured the Diablo feel. The models lend themselves to this, but you have taken it the extra step and I like the results. Good stuff.

Yeah, I did take the box you see here that I took the pictures in and put rice paper 'windows' in the roof and sides of the box to make a lighting box sort of kinda idea, but I think the bigger issue is that I probably should invest some money in getting a real camera instead of taking pictures with my phone. Unfortunately I pretty much spend all my money on models this month so maybe when my next pay check comes in I can get to work on that. A little tripod would probably not be a bad idea either. I might be able to get one of those pretty cheap at my local thrift store though, I'll have a look tomorrow and see if I can't at least get one of those ASAP.

These guys look great. The Diablo look works really well. I might have to steal the idea for some of mine!

These look great and I hadn't thought of the diablo link at first, but seeing it now it looks so natural! Been wanting to paint my dracoth in a red colour too, gives a better contrast to my Lions of Sigmar paint scheme. Can I ask what paints you used to paint yours?

I feel like the sigmarines could very easily be converted to fallen angels. I would try that but money...

I love the Celestant conversion. It really makes me want to buy a second one on dracoth, along with some wings...

What bit did you use for Tyrael's sword?

Hey guys! Quick update for this week. Tyrael is rapidly nearing conclusion now, I finished most of the gold on his armour, El'druin is all but finished. His wings are done except for the back side of one of them and I just have his base left to do. I have no photo's to show as of yet though. I left my stuff at the GW store over the weekend so I won't have access to it until Tuesday. I Will finish him up then and base him then and post pictures afterwards! So do not worry, this blog is FAR from forgotten. Infact I just signed up my stormcasts for an AOS Tale of Many Hobbyists running at my GW store aswell as for Armies on parade so I'm gonna work on it really hard over the next few month. Expect to see the legions of the high heavens taking shape soon!

I am also gonna split a second box of AOS so i'll have 3 more sets of wings to work with. I finally got that picture of valkia and sadly she's just to small to work with however I will instead take one of the prosecutors and sculpt on the front of the torso. I'm going to do Auriel, Ithereal and Maltheal (pre-Angel of Death) out of these 3 for now. so stay tuned for pictures as this comes along! However, let's get to some replies to the people who were nice enough to comment shall we!

- Thanks, I really like the Diablo look and the models lend themselves for it so easily! For the dracoth I just painted it khorne red, then I shaded it with nuln oil, next i shaded it again with fuegan orange, consecutively I used khorne red mixed 75/25 with lahmian medium to just fill the red back in. really easy!

Alright! So I picked up my models at the store today and finished up on tyrael! Here's a quick picture I snapped. One of my mates also took a picture on his phone while at the store to how how it looks on the cool lava battleground my local GW has set up. So I'll post that as soon as he mails me the image too. For now, here's tyrael! Next up is gonna be Auriel! I'll throw up some pictures once i work on that model some so stay tuned!

Ha! I was just looking at your blog actually youwashock! that stormcast conversion into a custodes is RIGHTEOUS man. Glad to see you peeking at my diablo stuff as well . If anyone is curious take a look over here for some of the best custodes i have seen in ages.

I'm currently working on a Liberator for some testing stuff so stay tuned for some more pictures in a bit!

Edit: Pictures of the liberators, I threw out the first scheme I was working on and went with something closer to the Diablo angels. Tell me what you think!

I honestly didn't think the Liberator would turn so good. But, DAMN, that is an awesome Liberator!

Hey guys! I'm pretty stoked with the liberator myself too, but since I promised some progress on my slightly more ambitious project, here is Auriel, the archangel of hope! Now I kind of really hate the approach of just sculpt boobs on it and it'll work just fine, I went a bit further then that. I took the torso of a liberator, cut away the front of the chest and sculpted a rounder torso that would give space for the models 'breasts' without going for the rather cliche boobs on armour look. I also picked up the set of legs i had left over from hacking a forgeworld fullgrim in half to make my daemon prince fullgrim conversion and married those to the body, a hooded head from the wood elf glade guard and some weapons from the wood elf rangers for the staff and a bit of greenstuff took care of the rest. Let me know what you guys think of her. I lightened the pictures a little in photoshop since the black wasn't really showing much in terms of detail so bear with me on that one until i get a bit more paint on the lady

Just for fun, I figured I'd add some warscroll's for this army while I am at it, so have a look. These are pretty much just for my own amusement so I don't really care to much for balance but I figure it's not all that bad!

Hey guys, just a quick reminder that this blog is far from dead! I started on Ithereal (mounted on a dragon to put a big beefy dragon mage in my collection) and on foot. And I mangled a C'tan nightbringer to get a good head start on Malthael, so look forward to pictures of those tomorrow. I left my models at the GW when i had to leave this afternoon because turns out I have more kidney stones and damn I felt like I was dying so I just went to the hospital instead of staying in the store and finishing my build XD.

First of all, these look great. Second of all, can you tell me a bit more which bits you are using for the hoods, especially on the liberator and Tyrael? I saw your remark that Auriel got a hood from a wood elf glade guard. Are you then just painting the face black or are your sanding down the features first to give that great faceless look?
