Stupid Question:
If either opponent forgets to designate a "Marked for Death" NOVA Secondary, or such, once the game gets rolling along, what shall yee judges say, if the players can't work it out?
Ya see, I just had a practice game of mission 1, and promptly forgot about it (MfDeath), until Turn 2. We laughed, opponent decided "Screw you, it's a GT, you should know better!"
I went along with that (still won .

You've waited this long, what's another few days? Good luck on your list building. I'm sure you'll do fine.

The mission primer packet is your friend. I created a detailed step-by-step pre game list for both players to follow. I will remind players to use it before each game. However, if after all of that you fail to follow step 6:
"6 (if applicable – Nova Style Missions) Choose Objectives
a. Each player secretly selects a Primary Mission Goal from those available in the mission. Mark it on your Round Score Sheet without letting your opponent see.
b. Immediately after choosing Primary Mission Goal, select Secondary Mission Goals from the pool of available goals. Mark them on your Round Score Sheet without letting your opponent see.
c. Reveal your chosen goals to your opponent before continuing on to step 7 and have your opponent initial your selections."
Then likely neither player will have done this step (hard to initial your opponents list without having them initial yours). If you get to a point in the game where someone forgets to do something - ask your opponent. If they say no, you can call me over, but if you forgot something and making that decision later in the game would potentially give you an advantage, then my ruling will likely be "no."
This may sound rough, but it will be applied consistently.

That will helpful. We played a fast and lose game, each tired after a day of work, just looking at the Mission Specs from the laptop and not writing down much.
Thanks.

I just read through the missions, everything seems pretty straightforward. If you forget to pick a secondary nova objective or something, it's not because the mission packet was clear about picking them.

Hope everyone has a good time, looks to be a stellar event. My washer and dryer decided to die so the funeral expenses (e.g., new units) means my tournament budget went caput :(.

I dig it.
My best advice to 40K players that want to do better competitively is "read the mission packet." Read it many times before he event, read the mission just before your match, and then refresh yourself on the objectives before EVERY turn. Doing this simple thing will make an average 40K player into a good player, unless you're playing cult chaos marines... Then, I can't help you...

As of this morning, there are 10 spots left. I know of at least 3 people who are picking up tickets today, so if you're waiting on the last minute to get your ticket, there is a small chance you may cut it too close.
Also, we have at least 9 clubs/teams represented (that I am aware of). Fun fact.

That is not actually correct. Tim Hosker took 3rd place behind Geoff, and therefore was the 2nd Best General. Julio took 3rd best General (on account of his round 1 loss knocking him out of the winners bracket early. He had a chance to play back in because we had less than 64 players. As a result, what was intended to be a single elimination event allowed a small number of individuals a second chance.
The placing results for Generalship for the GT can be found here:

3rd place was predetermined to be the winner of the final losers bracket of the top 4 (to account for strength of schedule). Places 4 and below were determined solely by W/L and battle points.

TL , DR
This was a great gig, good folks. When they do it again, GO.
I would like to thank many for extending general cool friendliness and camaraderie.
Peter, well done, sir. Good gig. Venue and missions:
a. terrain and tables. Good. Satisfactory with some plus+ cool tables.
b. spacing and extra table room for books, army trays, etc. Great!
c. missions -- too complicated for me. But I knew coming in this was going to be a *really* competetive scene, so there.
d. Environment, that is the general 'feel' of atmosphere. I have known many of these guys, if only in passing for a few years, and there's a really awesome bunch of doods:
1. Bryce. Yr my new Bromance.
2. Matt, Derek, James and son, Mike Benton (filthy InvisoWolFLibraryCon Star). Great hanging with you guys. Thanks for b-day 'treats' at Outback. ... yakface needs to work on a 'drunk' emoticon.
3. Mike Bass - Where's the beer you said you were gonna buy me?
4. Good to see Gordon again
5. Glad Anthony avenged himself for last year's loss to my Serpent Spam ... stupid Culexus.
6. Tim - you continue to vex me and I will either defeat you in the next game or get you to play to Turn 5.
7. Sisk for being friendly enough to talk to a fodder player ... I doubt he'll do it again now that he knows how low I rank.
8. Noah, Josh, thanks for wearing the striped shirts.
This is for Mark of GEG:
e. A/C - Good
g. chairs - poor. I'm scrawny and some of those plastic chairs bowed when I stood on 'em to take pix of the tables. I know at least one collapsed under a ... "Very Bulky" player. Maybe have these painter guys label the pound limit on these things or donate them to a kindergarten classroom, where they're most suited.
f. liquor license? Yeah, let's get to work on that.
Peter:
I'm interested in the purported naughty list. Someone at din-din discussed TFG and I feel strongly that we as a community police ourselves, by outting the bad elements. Not here, though. A MOD already weighed in on that in the other thread.
Having arrived home so late, I now am either going to fly next time or hope there's only a 5 game format.
I had a great time, even with a W1, L5 showing.
