I don’t think a fluff bit should be mandatory. I’m a painter, not a writer. If people do want to do it to explain their piece a/o boost the odds of them getting votes, more power to them. If it gets TL;DR, I’ll just skip it and vote for someone else If it helps, I’ll vote for them.

Yeah, there have been a few entries I've included fluff with in the voting thread over the months. So long as it's not essay-length, and it's posted with the final shots, I'm more than happy to include it!

Yeah. I can't write very well hence not doing it frequently. The thought of mandatory fluff does not inspire me hence not being keen to propose. Main thing is shorter the better

I compensate my lack in painting skills by writing fluff bits, I must confess Although I do try to improve my painting, I swear!

Congrats to all the winners -- And everyone else who participated!!

Sorry my entry was TOTALLY out of context this month, LOL. About the only thing sneaky with a Drop Pod is if it hits you on the head while you get shot at. I just wanted to join in on the fun and tossed a model I was painting anyhow.

Thanks for organizing this, Paradigm, as well as anyone else who assisted!

Drop pods are sneaky in a strategic sense. One moment you are frolicking heretically thought the fields, the next WHAM! you get smacked upside the head with a box of the Emperor’s finest.

It’s not all about ninjas sneaking though the night.

Mandatory fluff sounds like a health condition...
I'd like at most, maybe a little line as to why you chose the model, and if you want to turn that into fluff, fine.

Maybe just a piece title - that alone could be enough.

But yeah, it's a painting contest, not a witty writing contest.

In the words of those teenage type people - LMAO!!!!!!!

I am kind of regretting bringing this up now *joking* I think therefore consensus so far would seem to suggest that OPTIONAL Title/brief explanation/brief fluff is the way to go

I think 75 words or so is probably the max length though for whatever is written - yes/no?

75 words?! How can I distract all of you from my inferior painting skills with only 75 words?! My plan for winning this competition is doomed!

I genuinely didn't know that and it does cast a different light on the model (which I loved - the skin tones were refreshingly not pink or brown). I didn't get the link to the theme though. I think in the second challenge (Veterans) it was encouraged that participants write a short bit of "fluff" for their entry. I loved that, but forgot for my entries in the following months. Mine that time was too long, but it was great to tell people more aspects of my vision.

I'm reluctant to propose making it mandatory, but what does the group think? I would recommend a max word count (say 75 words). I think I'll start doing that from now on anyway just for myself.

Yeah that was totally my bad, I really should of said something. But the story sounds like a good idea.

Yeah, as said I love the idea of allowing fluff; you guys write it, and I'll post it with the finished entries! I'm not going to be picky about word limits, just keep it brief, no 80000 word epics on the history of your entry, his dog, his mum and his home planet!

So a Novella is fine, but no Novels? Challenge Accepted!

Just kidding... I suck at writing

GiraffeX how do you feel about clear acrylics in your unfinished bases comment?

A base does tend to complete a model (I go the simple route of implying it's nonexistence ).

I had a valid excuse for that this challenge, it was all down to my inability to commit to a decision!

They are fine as they say "ignore me I'm not really here" to me

Same for skimmers clear bases.

A good base can make a good model turn into a fantastic model in my opinion.

Fully agree. I revised my landspeeder with a resin ruined Tarmac base and it transformed it. Really glad I made the effort

Yeah, this is close, and with two days left to boot! Impressively high scores too, I think the record is 57 votes but I think Arclaw, KD and Januine could easily pass that if this keeps up!

Looks like in heading to one place short of the top three for about the third time, but I can't complain, all the entries above mine are waaay better!
