Could you mask the support by making it look like dripping blood. I guess it going straight down would not give a sense of motion though. Isn't there a hand above the leg that could be holding a vanquished foe as the source of the blood? Can't exactly tell from that picture.

That is an interesting idea. The Shield hand is at his waist on that side. That being said, I'm not sure it would work. As you said, he is running at what looks like a fair clip and a straight down drip would probably detract from the model. As much as I don't like it, I may just have to paint it black and accept it. I may try to have an antenna or other long flexile piece of terrain "follow" it up and cover it a bit... I'll have to investigate what stuff I have that may work.

Fantastic idea and great execution! I wouldn't stress about the support rod for the leg. You're probably the only one that will notice, everyone else will be looking at the giant freaking Grotesque!

More green stuff today. I built up around all the crazies in his back, making it look like scar tissue around them like they burst through the skin. More green stuff around the neck (seen in the first photo) and on the chest piece to fill some gaps behind the interface panel. I worked on the legs to make torn holes in the space spandex to break up the otherwise featureless pants. A few more steps here and it will be on to painting this beast.

Any plans on some sort of waist/hanging cloth? you can add in lots of hooks and chains as well as trophies, which, as I understand is a big part of DE culture.

Love this thread so far.
The "Venom-knight" is looking great. Very grotesque, manipulated flesh/ hulking beast.
It has inspired me to eventually dig out my old Resident Evil Tyrant figure and see if it may be worth converting him in a similar vein.

Xendarc, I didn't plan on making a loincloth of any kind because I modeled him to be wearing the faux-spandex that Wyches and Grotesques wear. Hooks, trophies and chains are all very do-able though.

I admit, I rolled my eyes a little when I first saw you were using the venom fig, but watching the project grow, it's really starting to take shape. You clearly have a lot better vision than I do. lol. Nice work!!

So this is my creation as it stands so far. Automatically Appended Next Post: I think the build is pretty much done. I don't plan on working on it tonight, so I will leave it up here for people to give feedback and suggestions on. So if you have an idea for what I should add, please let me know and I will consider it! Thanks for all your support and positive feedback thus far.

I know this is rather late, but I think the pose it a bit odd, but there is obviously no way to change that. WHELP I GUESS YOU SHOULD MAKE ANOTHER EH?

I'm actually pretty happy with the pose. I like the "runner stance" as it shows him trying to close with his enemies so he can rip them up. Automatically Appended Next Post: Is there anything in particular you didn't like about it?

I can see what he's saying. The model is leaning so far forward that instead of giving the impression of running forward with control, it looks more like he just tripped and is about to fall over. I think it has mostly to do with the center of gravity being too far forward of his feet and knees, plus, since there is no hint if upward momentum in to torso, it gives the impression of falling forward rather than leap on forward into combat which I feel might be more of what you were going for. Aside from the positioning, I really like this model. Automatically Appended Next Post: It's funny, because in pic 2, the pose looks spot on, but in pic three with the side view is where it looks off balance, so it seems more to just affect the side profile. When you were posing it, what angle were you mostly viewing it from?

After I posed him, I made sure to look at it from all angles so it didn't look weird. I (and this isn't just me being defensive) still think it looks good. It's like he is sprinting, which makes the forward lean make sense. What I had to get over was his planted foot is at an angle to his leg, so his weight is not exactly over the top of his planted leg, which you would expect from a runner, but I don't think it ruins the pose, or I would have done it differently.
Maybe since I know the thought process (that he is sprinting) behind the forward pose I don't see it as odd.
I do still appreciate the honest feedback, even if I don't agree and it's too late to change anyway.

So I am starting to paint now. I didn't post a photo of him undercoated because that would be boring and unimportant. For the first step I am painting his skin white, which I will then wash in a flesh tone to give him a pale look. Here is the white started. I need to go back over with a second coat on most of it. I also painted the jawish bones in his back white to be washed in a dark color and made to look like bone. I won't necessarily post EVERY step in the painting process, but when I make a notable change I will post it.

If I may suggest some paints, stone grey from model color is amazing for skin. If you need the GW version of that just ask, but I'm too lazy to check now so yea. He really does look amazing. Much better than a black, spiky regular wraithknight IMO!

I'm doing the skin on Venom here the same as I did my Grotesques, or at least very similar. I may take some grey and paint the "scar" areas to make it darker and thus more like an actual scar.
Thanks for the tip though!
