So I worked on the face mostly last night, so here it is. I pretty much nailed the eyes.

So I got the shoulder weapons and the Scissorhand done as seen below. Been working on the large cords/chest panel and the shield generator arm, I should have those up pretty soon.

I didn't really mean for his claw to be a condiment dispenser, but what are you gonna do?

When I first saw the "...counts-as..." in the subject line, I figured I was going to be annoyed with this project because so many counts as models are ridiculous. Then, I saw that you were using a Venom model and I was sure this was going to be stupid.

But I soldiered on and, wow, was I wrong! This is very frikkin' cool. I was wondering where you were going with the hot glue. I doubted the wisdom of using that but, once again, was I wrong! It looks more "Chaos" to me, but I know little about the direction this game has gone, more specifically, where Dark Elves are now, so it might fit right in and I wouldn't know.

Well done, sir. A very nice manifestation of a very interesting vision.

Ghidorah,

Well thanks for sticking with the thread and thanks for the compliment.

The theme I am going with is a giant Grotesque, basically a hulking monster created by the haemonculus. They took some unlucky soul and pumped him full of so many growth stims and steroids that he grew into this monstrosity. That's why I made him close combat based instead of making options for the shooting Wraithknight. Shooting isn't this guy's style.

It fits well into the Haemonculus Covens Supplement which came out right after the last Dark Eldar book.

It finally occurred to me what these guys reminded me of! The Mo'arg demons of the Manaforges:

Obviously, it's not an exact match, but he totally reminds me of my days running around in Netherstorm in '07... lol

So I am damn near done here. I've painted the shield generator a white-blue color which I guess I am happy with.

I drybrushed black then brown over most of his skin to dirty him up a bit, and then drybrushed a whole lot of red on his weapon arm and that whole side of his body, like blood splattered everywhere. I like how it turned out. I was thinking about adding a shine to the blood, but I like the caked-on look that I have right now, so I will be leaving it alone. I also started on the pants, panting them a dark grey/green/brownish color and did a heavy black wash. The next step will be to stain the paints, focusing on the feet, knees and the ripped parts. Sooooo close I can taste it.

I'll have better photos up in a second, that yellow light doesn't show it very well.

Here are a couple better photos of the bloodied up parts. I didn't realize that yellow-light lamp was going to suck so much.

Fantastic project so far. My son has that exact Venom toy and I really thought there was no way to make it as you described. I really am inspired when folks have the vision to create these kinds of unique pieces and have it fit the 40K aesthetic. Great work so far and looking forward to completion. Thank you for sharing this project.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

So here he is basically done. I haven't done the base yet, I'm not sure how I want to do that, so it may sit for a bit as-is. but the model is done and looking gruesome. The dirty look all that drybrushing gave him really tied this project together and gave it a neat little bow. He was looking a bit too "clean" for a mindless killing monster.

It better have a real sword for wysiwyg purposes. Just saying - it can be an issue in the real world.

Other from that - splendid. Original Venom probably never felt this cool.

If anyone is THAT anal I wouldn't play. Anyone who tries to call out the fact that he doesn't have a "sword" and so cannot be a Glaive/Shield Wraithknight is a dick and if it was anything short of a tournament, I would walk away from the table.

Disregarding anyone's attitude towards WYSIWYG an appropriately themed giant sword or cleaver in his left hand would look pretty cool

I was thinking about doing an actual sword, but that not really his style. A sword is finesse and skill, where as this guy is more about the stomping and the crushing.
