My stormhammer. I love the land battleship aesthetic, bristling with guns. I love the mobility and the armour.

It isn't the best for its price but it is pretty damn juicy.

A big blob of gargoyles, 20 to 30 - screening for the first turn, they don't look terribly threatening, but then they tie up a few units and die messily. They get in the way and are surprisingly fast, plus 6+ poison is nice. Great success planting them in cover just to block off areas. And they're cheap!!

My Sicarian. It sweet looking and it can dump out a lot of shots. It should be mandatory that every Space Marine player own a Sicarian.

Personally, any time I get to field my Primarch. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is more fun that knowing that there is actual fear of your HQ. Knowing that your entire army has some form of buff paired with a single model that could do toe to toe with a sizable chunk of the enemies army, and wipe most of them out before he goes down is just great. It's even better when another primarch is there, and the posturing, smack talk, and the constant urge to charge that bastard. It's simply amazing.

Beyond a Primarch, I like my 20-man tactical squads, good fun, they almost always do quite a few useful things, and the foot print is just massive with the 32 mm bases.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

Kroot and Piranhas consistently disappointed me in 5th edition

Ever since the 6th ed codex though, they've kinda become my signature units. Now that know how much of a benefit outflanking provides I like how my blobs getter better use of their limited time on the field and I like how crazy things get following the 1st or 2nd turn Piranha-Drone split (Boning over a Vulkan drop pod army was absolutely delicious).

My old signature unit (The crisis suit w/twin-linked missiles and BS4 upgrade) hasn't seen much action outside of being Farsight bodyguards since the Targeting Array became kill in the 6th ed codex and Missilesides made them partially redundant

For me it is a tie between several.

My Shadowsword, whilst vastly overpriced, is an amazing weapon of psychological warfare when used against certain opponents. In my last game my opponent brought CSM, all in transports or deepstriking. First turn and everything he has drives straight for the nearest cover, trying to hide from the big scary Titan Slayer, resulting in a massive traffic jam. Ironically for the first to turns the main gun fails to do anything more than remove 2 HP from a Rhino but my opponent did not advance anything beyond any form of cover. To be fair he was partially justified when, on turn three, 20 cultists and 5 Thousand Sons vanished in a massive fireball as whatever had been fowling the gun was cleared. From then on my Shadowsword claimed: A Rhino, another 5 Thousand Sons, Ahirman, 2 wounds on Demon Primarch Perturabo and an Oblitorator.

My Tank Commander, whom is themed on Darjeeling from Girls und Panzer, has a reputation for being nigh unkillable, often taking her LRBT and smashing the foe without ever taking more than a single HP in return - She has been KO'ed a total of 4 times - Once against Space Wolves, twice against Grey Knights and once against Dark Angels and Grey Knights - and has had a hand in taking down primarchs before now.

My 1st and 2nd Veteran sections have been known to tank massive amounts of damage, sometimes eating fire from several Marine squads without losing a man. They also have this weird thing whereby they will reach about 3 to 4 models left alive and proceed to become nigh unstoppable, with the record including things such as the last 4 from 1st Section taking fire from Scout Snipers, a Vindicaire, a 10 man Plasma Tactical squad and a Rhino for several turns without taking a casualty whilst shooting an assault squad off an objective before they moved up and took it, winning me the game.
It happens almost every game without fail and they can really frustrate my opponents.

Free from GW's tyranny and the hobby is looking better for it

I also enjoy using my Noise Marines and my cultists and my havocs but honourable mention goes to my chosen

I love the fluff of the Wraithlord and it was my first unit I bought (along with 4 Howling Banshees). The way the Plastic kit looked is what got me into Eldar in the first place. I have 6 Wraithlords now I just with they were a viable choice in an army.

Hellhounds and Devil Dogs. Though total suicide units and slightly overpriced, the Inferno Cannon puts the fear of the Emperor into cover-camping units (particularly anything with T3) and has an effective 24" threat range plus the length of the template.

The Devil Dog has weird rules and is a bit expensive but used correctly it can hit far above his weight against things like Land Raiders and the like.

Recently it has been my RW Command Squad with all the bells and whistles. This squad with an Interrogator, Sammael and a Librarian is so damn lethal and it becomes just a bit absurd when you pair them with a Darkshroud that has the Signus Prime Legacy of Glory, you don't even have to worry about overwatch and get Furious Charge.

My most common opponent is CSM/KDK and with this combo I can expect to kill 20 marines before they even get to attack back. There's no kill like overkill, right?

i'm a dirty rotten tzeentch daemon player who fields plague drones. i converted up the unit to be old school chaos knights (the old multi-pose ones with the bulky warrior torsos.) with long spears on big jumpy spider drones, and have harry the hammer and aekhold helbrass playing nurgle heralds in the unit. plus they work pretty well in game.

For me, it's my Chapter Master with Jump Pack, Lightning Claw and Shield Eternal. He's so fast, so angry, and so brave that he doesn't need any pansy 'guns'. Of course, he could sit still and call down an orbital bombardment, but he prefers to tear heretics and traitors apart with his claws.

He's like Shrike but more survivable and less stealthy.

My one carnifex named 'Can Opener' because he has a 100% initial success rate and a great sense of narrative. His first target in a game always dies in the first round of combat (often it doesn't even survive the charge) and he always gets too it. These targets have included Land Raiders, Repair barges, Monoliths and Bastions.

After the initial obligatory mass carnage he will always do exactly what is required in order to create the most interesting/best narrative. He has fought an epic 1 on 1 duel with a necron lord gravely wounding it before falling to a blow which freed the lord just in time to save a nearby unit from some termagants. He has charged up the board weathering 3 turns of heavy las cannon and bolter fire to smash through a land raider and consolidate into a predator, I won this game thanks to Can Openers great impersonation of the hive minds wrath. Perhaps the ghost of 4th ed Old One Eye himself haunts this model because twice he has torn through a foe that should easily have bested him (Unit of terminators who got off 1 turn of shooting, and the focus fire of an entire imperial guard army respectively.) only to then be bested in combat by a lone marine/guardsman (rest of their units were killed by termagants). He is my avatar of destruction acing almost every dice role to wreak havoc right up until the story demands his life.

I'm a huge fan of my Horus. He's really just for aesthetics since he can't be played in normal 40k games.

For mechanics while aesthetically pleasing, Be'lakor and Cypher are my favorites within the 40k bounds.

my mek gunz, i kustomized mine from killa kanz so they look like kanz carrying really big plasma guns. i just love the dakka it brings. they have had a kill ratio equivalent to my meganobz and they didnt have to get stuck in to do it.

my other choice would be the killa kan. overpriced, but fun to play with. these are the grots with attitude. i charge them at anything that isnt dedicated melee and they will eventually kromp them, charge them at something that is melee and watch the kanz die, but you might get one or 2 umies in the process. they are the ultimate power fantasy of all grots, and my meks are more than willing to give them a chance to have a go.

I have the most fun fielding my Annihilation Nexus.
Between the Doomsday Ark Horde mulching blast, and the Annihilation Barges Twin Linked Tesla Destructors its straight up fun to play.
I love planting it in a corner of the map so it can be infiltrated or deep struck behind, and blasting from halfway across the map.
Its like a Necron AV13 Fortification.
Only D-Weapons ruin my good time.

My Nightbringer Ctan earns honorable mention.
Every time I field him, people ignore him for units they know better, and then he wipes out like 7 units in a turn with random rolls, and people run from him for the rest of the game.
Which is hilarious cause he can not survive sustained fire.

Also my Destroyer Lord with Warscythe and 2+ armor save artifact.
Once killed a Warhound Titan.
