Ah, the warp storm table. Making the actual players and their armies irrelevant so often it's become a bad joke.....
Reminds me of a game way back when with the (then) new ork codex - the wierdboy eadbang/perils of the warp and blew up in the middle of his squad, the shokk attack gun dragged itself and a nearby killa kan into the warp and then half the flash gits shot one another in a frenzy of ineptitude.
I remember my opponent asking if his army actually needed to be there, as the orks were wiping themselves out quite handily on their own...

Lets see, about five years ago my deathwing were facing some imperial guard and one squad had to take four 2+ armor saves (only four terminators left in that squad). I rolled four dice and got for ones!!! I'll never forget that day...
More recently I decided to purchase an imperial knight (the new kit). I usually never purchase vehicles as they never lasted long against tau in 4th/5th edition. My opponent got the first turn, drop podded a squad of salamanders behind it and got some very good rolls with two meltas. .. blowing the damned thing up. I have never used it since.
The wonders of balance in 40k lol.

I always answer these threads with the same anecdote -
I fired my Deathstrike Missile Launcher Danger-close to my Fortress of Redemption's Walls because a Green-tide was bearing down on my position.
The missile scattered back onto my Fortress, destroying 3 sections (missile bunker, walkway and tower) and killing over 30 Veterans, my Inquisitor, my last surviving Tarantula Sentry gun and only an ork or two
Needless to say, the Green-tide marched over the rubble unopposed and simply mopped up what was left of my force.

Played a game using skyhammer, vrs a chaos army. First turn went as expected. Came in - but managed to whiff every single roll, charges included. Chaos turn - he couldn't fail. Everything hit, killed and all my saves failed. I ended up losing both assault squads, a good measure of pods, and all but one squad of devs, and a combat squad of marines. (My other pods mishapped off the table or otherwise and all got destroyed. So turn 2 on, I have literally 15 marines vrs an entire chaos army. 4 have grav cannons, 1 has a Melta and a srg with a fist. Those 15 guys took out the rest of the chaos army - losing only 2 more men the entire game. They wouldn't die, and refused to give up. Ended up losing the game 2-1 on objectives, but the fact those 15 marines managed to deal with a huge chaos army, - they all got shiney bits and badges afterwards.

Had an opponent whom knows I play tank heavy Guard bring only two AT choices - 5 Melta chosen and a Demon Primarch with two Obliterators. Needless to say he lost.

He's have won against me. I could bring 10 LRBT's to that and still lose, given my current record.

My favourite is an oldie...
As some background, back in 2nd edition, close combat worked one pair of models at a time. Each model rolled a number of dice equal to their Attacks stat, and added their WS. Compare the two results, highest scores the difference in hits on the loser.
Rolls of 1 were a 'Fumble', and added 1 to your opponent's score. 6s after the first add 1 to your score.
The Eversor Assassin, by virtue of being an utter loony, gained an additional attack for each subsequent model it fought against in a single round of combat. Made him awesome at running into the middle of enemy swarms and laying waste to all he saw...
So, Eversor Assassin locked in combat with a bunch of Berzerkers and a Bloodthirster. Hacks his way mercilessly through the Berzerkers without breaking a sweat. By the time he's ready to have a go at the Bloodthirster, he's rolling 12 dice, with a WS of 8...
With a grin at my opponent, I pick up my stack of dice, give them a good shake... And roll 9 ones...
