Well, I'm a little more insane than I thought. If I have a large ship, I'm eventually going to want to pose it in a battle scene with another ship..... So, this means I need another ship from another race. After some research, I'm going to go with a Necron Scout ship, heavily influenced by the design of a Cairn Tombship. I was able to find a plasticard manufacturer that has 1/4 inch thick styrene sheets that are 48x96 inches (yes, basically a plastic sheet of plywood).

I also have a tool that will allow me to cut perfect circles up to 4 feet wide, so I'm thinking the Necron ship will be able to be made easier and significantly faster than the Imperial ship. I think I'm going to start with this one first. I can simply top it with parts from a Monolith or Tesseract Vault to get the pyramid shape on top and bottom. Totally construction for this beast could be as little as a weekend project, if I have all the bits lined up.

The intro to the Space Marine video game has some atmospheric frigates and ships that look to be close in scale of what you're looking for

Something very similar to that is pretty much what I was going for.

I was actually thinking of a similar idea as a display board for my army. It'd be an Ork lander with my army pouring out of it.

I remember some time ago someone asked much the same question in this forum, and one of the replies was some pics of something close (thematically) to what you want. Took me some google searching, but I found a few pics of what I remembered seeing:

Maybe that will give some ideas.

I've been going over the design for the Imperial Cutter. I think I have narrowed down a design, and made a list of bits I need for it.

For weapons: Two single-shot torpedoes, Double barreled turbo laser turret, Icarus Lascannon turret, 4 punisher cannon turrets, and 6 battle cannons ( broadsides).

If I may recommend something, I think the Vengeance Weapon Battery set would be perfect for some dorsal guns.

That's my thinking too. I think I want to make a small cathedral-like structure as the command center (stained-glass window for the front window of the bridge), with four Vengence weapons at the four corners of the cathedral.
