Ever heard of Make-A-Wish foundation? You should take your concern for those hundred kids and donate to that foundation now. Thanks!

Already do $100 a year, I'm not rich or I'd do more.

The point is single guy dying gets to see something 100's of dying kids would love to see before they die, but I'm supposed to get teary eyed because it happened for one random dude. I'm just making a point if they could and did make it happen for one, do it for all. The only way I'd give Disney or Abrams any credit for doing good in this world, is if it was done for everyone, and my measly $100 a year can go directly to making it happen.

Well, nobody cares about your $100 because you didn't give $1000.

You aren't supposed to do anything, and no one cares if you are teary-eyed or not. This is something special happening for a person who is in otherwise dire circumstances. Most people can see the humanity in the gesture and appreciate a spark of happiness granted for this man and his family during an otherwise dark time. Why can't you be happy that a person was given an immensely meaningful and special gift?

Just stop. Or, better yet, try and organize an early showing for all those 100's of sick kids. If you really cared about them you'd do it, right? And we'd give you all the credit for doing something awesome. But you won't, so you are just as guilty as Disney is for not caring about sick children.

Do you see how stupid that argument is?

People die every day and we can't do something nice for all of them so we shouldn't do something nice for any of them. Is that basically it?

In saying that, maybe extending it out to a special event for a number of terminal kids in an area would be like super bonus niceness points?

Sure! And I wouldn't discourage anything like that at all. But I think the a claim that basically boils down to "you can't do something nice for everyone, so you shouldn't do anything nice at all" is really, really horrible. To the extent that it's a kind of philosophy that will actively make the world a worse place to live in and paralyze anyone who wants to do something good into inaction.

Truly sad when anybody dies young. I'm glad they were able to make this goal happen for him. Good on Disney, Abrahms, Lucas and anyone else involved!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I guess I see more happy in this story. He was given 2 months, lasted 4. He got to see a movie(Even though it wasnt the complete final cut, I think he said some CGI was missing).

Don't worry. Its not true. Unless the actor who allegedly plays Kylo Ren got hired purely to be one heck of a red herring.

Quit having a stuffed head. Something good happened for someone in a gak situation. You don't teary-eyed but you should recognize a good deed is a good deed. Dude on his deathbed got to see a movie he wanted to see and that's nice. That there is a great deal more suffering in the world or others that maybe didn't get the same chance doesn't somehow void the fact they went out of their way to be kind for someone in way they didn't have to, that requires trust and is potentially a thread to their bottom line.

Jeez louise man. You're like one of those folks who tells me I can't be sad about having a gak day, because some a warlord somewhere is chopping people up with a machete. Yeah a lot of stuff sucks for a lot of people but we can still stuff that happens on individual level on it's individual merits.

That sounds like a positively delightful acting job. Your goal is to do the interview circuit, dress up in costumes similar to the actual lead, and drop tons of internally consistent spoilers.

At its most extreme, perhaps you could even be in the new misdirect cut with yourself interposed with the person you were deflecting attention from.

Thank you..... using this idea!

To be fair, they did something similar in ESB with the whole 'I am your father'. The only people that knew that line were James Earl Jones, the Director, and anyone doing the recording. The spoken line during filming was 'Obi Wan killed your father' and Hamill was told to overeact to it.

This would be much more extreme, hiring and paying someone for the express reason to not be used in the film, only some promotional stuff. But if they wanted to keep a secret like that in this day and age, extreme measures are needed. Information leaks and spreads so fast on the internet.

However, I'm on the side of the rumour being crap. Disney has the money to do that, but for the same reason it's hard to keep something like that from leaking, it's only going to work on the people who see the first premier, then it's going to be all over the internet within minutes of happening on film as people jump on their smartphones and tweet about it.

I think that would be impossible to keep secret because far far too many people would be needed to keep it. The "I am your father" line was easy because it was one line and only 3 people knew about it, plus cell phones and such didn't exist.
