Thanks Theophony, and for updating this, Orlando! ModCube and 3 mats left in the running for best accessory, wow - maybe they'll cancel out a bit like all the Republican candidates have been doing here in the US . Seriously though, I actually have mats from two of those companies, and they're both fantastic! Good luck to everyone involved, will be well deserved for sure

For the other categories most of what I voted for is still alive - it was so hard to choose between Guildball and Kings of War! Looking forward to the final results

Only reason Exploding Kittens must be on the list is saturation-everyone and their brother has a copy from the Kickstarter.

Game is garbage after more than a few plays. In my humble opinion of course.

A bit sad Arena Rex didn't make it to the final but everything else I nominated did so roll on the awards,

and good luck RiTides with 3 different mats splitting the vote that's got to be good for the Cubes......

I missed that about Arena Rex, bummer! In our store it was competing for the same "new game" spot as Guildball, and GB has really carried the Warmachine crowd well... I don't think Arena Rex had the familiarity in gameplay to tap into.

But local folks who tried it have told me the rules are quite nifty... here's hoping it gains more traction!

Interesting that Age of Sigmar has a good few entries for this one despite a lot of negativity about it. Also nice to see Betrayal at Calth and Dungeon Saga up there.

Good luck to you, RiTides!

Deep Cut pulled it out, and a hearty congratulations to them! In the segment talking about the accessories they called 2015 "the year of the wargaming mat" and seeing all the other finalists, I can see why . As I mentioned, I've got mats from two of the companies listed and might look into the third now!

Also thanks to the BoW guys for the commentary on the ModCube, that was entertaining . LED screens would indeed be ace although right now we're just working on getting a single LED in to light the cubes up! Also regarding a "dice building game", we've actually provided cubes to a few folks who are trying out that very thing.

Thank you again to everyone who voted for us, we'll definitely advertise the fact that we were a finalist even though we couldn't take the whole thing

Here's the winners spoilered, don't click if you want to be surprised as the presentations are pretty awesome:

Same here. The Warmahorde crowd here that loved it, but wasn't QUITE hardcore enough to make it their life (as it sort of requires to go from player to competitive player), almost universally moved to Guildball. Man that game kind of came out of nowhere.

It'll probably blow up in the US with MiniaturesMarket and TheWarStore also backing it hard, and advertising it prominently.

Between playmat, playmat, playmat, and modcubes, the plamat won.

Between Games Workshop and everything else, Games Workshop won.

Also, there was art.

During Warseer's downtime, did everyone hop on over to Beasts of War and just vote for stuff there?

Betrayal at calth has some nice miniatures, but the rules are vague, weapon ranges are unclear, took a lot of guess work playing it.

I think that Calth and Mechanicus are legitimate winners purely based on the weight of nostalgia and anticipation they hold.
Given that pretty much every aspect of each of these categories is subjective I can't fault that.

Mod cubes losing out to 'a mat' is silly, and I own two deep cut mats. Nice products but hardly revolutionary...and equivalents are produced by multiple companies.
So RiTides was very diplomatic but, BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

I'm not so sure - for best miniature game, massive product launch/millions £ of AoS got defeated by some guy writing a fantasy skirmish game from his shed (possibly) with Frostgrave. David took out Goliath bigtime in that instance, and rightly so as Goliath was a drooling idiot wearing a fez and riding in circles on his child-size tricycle, and Frostgrave is a damned fine game.

For best boardgame you can tell it was a wargaming crowd that voted. Not just Betrayal at Calth but most of the other entries as well, think people were voting for plastic 30k minis rather than something that was actually a good boardgame. I would be interested to read comments about this category on BGG and can guess what form they would take.

Hell, Aos didn't even make it to the final four.

I suspect BaC benefited a lot from simply being so widely distributed. Most people won't vote for a game they haven't played and while it's unfair in a way to vote for a game when you haven't played the other candidates, many will choose the best game out of those they have actually played. Giving BaC a large pool of potential voters regardless of how well it stacks up to other games in the same category.

Hard to get excited over most of these results. Modcubes deserved the win, and as much as I love Frostgrave, it is just so much less well designed/tested a game than This is Not A Test.

Happy to see both the Warlord titan and Betrayal at Calth win, both are excellent!

Pity that the ModCubes didn't win, but still congrats on making it to the top four!

And I'll echo the sentiments regarding Frostgrave: it's okay, what annoys me the most about this "professional" product is that the book itself is a poorly formatted mess. Don't give me any bs about a guy doing it by himself, it's printed by Osprey, a company known for a good, high standard.

Dragon Rampant is another recent product of theirs that isn't excactly a dream as far as layout is concerned.

Standard Osprey stuff (the uniform of the 3rd battation in the peninsular war) tends to be good as they've had ages to get it right and new writers just copy the existing format

the completely new stuff is only as good as the writer doing it as I don't think osprey do much to it once they accepted the submission

Shame really, as I also have Tomorrow's War and that's an excellently done book with professional layout and whatnot.

I still think at it's core it's an awesome game, which is probably why it won! Think Warren summed it up well when he said that it has captured the imaginations of a lot of gamers.

Hopefully though it will survive long enough to get a 2nd edition, and produce it somewhat more professionally.
