Krack missiles are more for light/medium armor. Lascannons and Melta is the answer for heavy armor. If you made Krack armor bane, you might as well just toss out all the melta weapons. They are the same S8, but pay for that extra d6 pen with point blank range.

Well, in real life, we destroy tanks with hellfires and dragons and Karl Gustavs, not microwave weapons. It's stupid to think that heavy anti-tank missiles magically quit being a thing. I'd be fine tossing all the melta weapons and making weapons work the way they actually work.

Ideally Krak missiles would have Sunder and Frag missiles have Shred.

But you'd have to update the profiles across fifteen codices, so good fething luck.

Melta would still be AP1.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

That would make multimeltas basically useless.

I use multimeltas against 2+ armor more than actual vehicles. But the whole mess needs a rewrite because Krak missiles are basically useless right now.

Better answer is that Krak missiles haven't changed much and Armourbane wasn't a thing then.

Also, Transauranic Arqebus and Leman Russ Vanquishers both have Armourbane. Nobody's touting those things as substitutions for Meltaguns now are they?

Worst case scenario is that the use of Multi-Meltas becomes more limited. I don't think they'll ever disappear simply because Krak Missiles have Armourbane.

As for the actual missile launcher/pod itself, I had another thought which is probably a bit OP but I think rather interesting. Here it is (Format: < Missile Type > - < Range > - < Strength > - < AP > - < Type &gt

Infantry Scatterer - 24" - S4 - AP- - Heavy 1, Large Blast, Unstable Guidance
Frag - 36" - S4 - AP5 - Heavy 2, Blast
Krak - 36" - S8 - AP3 - Heavy 2
Flakk - 36" - S7 - AP4 - Heavy 1, Skyfire

Infantry Scatterer
If a squadron of three Dreadnoughts of any type are all equipped with Dreadnought Missile Pods which have not been destroyed and are not Snap Firing, then the Infantry Scatterer may take one of the following profiles:

Infantry Scatterer - 24" - S6 - AP- - Heavy 1, Large Blast, Unstable Guidance, One Use Only
Infantry Scatterer - 24" - S3 - AP- - Heavy 3, Large Blast, Unstable Guidance, One Use Only

Unstable Guidance
If the blast scatters and the total on the scatter die is 8” or more, then the blast will scatter the full distance shown on the die, regardless of Ballistic Skill or any other modifiers.

As of now, I have not costed this weapon (points-wise). I also thought it was a bit boring to simply make the Dreadnought Missile Pod/Launcher simply a Typhoon Missile Launcher with Flakk Missiles.

Thoughts?

TBH, at risk of being boring, I think the easiest way of doing this is to just change the Missile Launcher on the Dreadnought to a Cyclone Missile Launcher.

I don't think it's boring; it's the simplest option and would definitely give them a bit more punch.

That said, both Dreadnoughts and Terminators with Cyclone Missile Launchers could do with the option of purchasing Flakk missiles.
It would also be fun to be able to fire Cyclone Missile Launchers as if they were Twin Linked and Rending, but at the cost of being unable to fire them for the rest of the game, to represent firing off all of the remaining missiles at once, these removes ammo tracking, but still lets you deliver more firepower at a crucial moment, and at a cost.

Keeping track of the ammo as the OP suggests puts me in mind of how Cyclone Missile Launchers worked in 2nd edition; they were one of the most Orkish weapons a non-Ork could be armed with back in those days, with a misfire seeing you fire off all the remaining missiles either at the original target, or while spinning uncontrollably. It was pretty insane!
