I don't think it's really ugly personally. That is preference.

Also you could convert 1 if you wanted. Don't have to buy it. I personally don't see 1 model breaking the game any more than free upgrades on mechanicus etc

I don;t see why one player should get free stuff if the other doesn't - doesn;t matter which army........

Is he 1 per unit or 1 per army?

Cuz if he's 1 per unit, gosh, I'd hate to see how much better Battle Company just became.....

I am not saying it's fair. Just saying there is already other free stuff. No different than that.

A lot of the other free stuff at least has “tax” units attached. Sure, you can get free transports in a company list, but it locks you into the MSU playstyle, and severely limits options like bikes, tanks, etc.

There is no tax here. Just free points.

(For the record, I’m not fond of all the free stuff to start with. This is just a particularly bad example of it)

OP forgot to mention the disintegration gun gets hot, so against a lot of stuff it is a worse plasma gun (but free) and the marine also carries a combat weapon, so it is going to give a squad an extra melee attack too! Yikes!

I've got no problems with 1 per army. That is hardly ground-breaking at all compared to all the other new stuff coming out.

The fact he has an AP 2 instant death weapon is bananas as a free upgrade. Just think of a simple pod of 5 tac marines landing next to a riptide with this guy and he has a decent chance of one shotting it. It's not OP the general sense but damn it is useful for the massive cost of zero points.

I hope tournies ban the guy at it is no win to let him in. Either those who hate pay to win (myself included) will be pissed or if let in those bought it will be mad that an exclusive model will likely be proxied to no end. Thus, the best solution, keep it out of tournies.

I'm thinking about getting one just to have the exclusive model. I probably won't ever use him because it is lame to have a free model like that that is that powerful. I wonder how he'll look in Caliban Green...

I *might* feel bad if it had thrust moves, interceptor or a 4+ fnp but alas, it doesn't.

Seriously, it doesn't break any rules as many armies do. It doesn't break the movement, psychic, shooting, or assault phases. No biggie.

Sigh...I have an army with only four Space Marine models, and they are all toting Lascannons I am unwilling to give up. So this guy is useless to me. Maybe in a Sternhammer. Oh wait, Crimson Fists can't really make use of the Sternhammer since no Pedro Kantor. So this guy remains useless to me. :(

I kinda want him, but he isn't really $30 worth for me. I have better things I can get for that. Like the Crimson Fists Standard Bearer on eBay.

Actually, I have a new idea. Assuming he's not restricted to the vanilla marine 'dex and can be run with my Dark Angels, I might just paint him in the retro paint scheme from back whenever the DA were first introduced to the game (I think they were in the same book as Blood Angels).

It's not every marine army. There are many marine armies that aren't Space Marines.
