There is no reason to be fair and understanding with a flawed system that has blatant favoritism. And since people still condone the itc as fair, apparently not sharp enough. What's funny is hearing Reece talk about how they have to be impartial, because favoritism would ruin them. But he knows exactly what he is doing. He would rather crap all over 5 precent of the player base with untested rules at the very last minute before a tournament, than risk the ire of 50 precent of his paying player base being unhappy and spreading discontent. You will NEVER see the itc Nerf marines, superfriends, or even probably these new stupid psychic powers, except for the terrain ones because they are not condusive to organized play.

I hope to all the gods and devils we retain points values. I really want to see 40k stripped of so much churn and bloat (detachments, unbound, formations, random charts a-gogo) but something that drastic will kill the game imo.
Points are an important part of the commpetitive aspect of playing 40K. The game only really covers movement and combat, so army selection from a free list that lets players optmise for different strategies is a key part of the challenge of the game.
Part of the reason why AoS drove so many Fantasy players wild with anger is that by dropping points entirely, this whole aspect of the game was destroyed.
My personal view is that AoS is already similar enough to 40K in its core mechanics that there isn't any a great of purpose in having AoS, and not much purpose in AoSifying 40K. Why bother to play AoS when 40K already offers a similar experience? Why bother to make 40K even more like AoS when AoS already offers the same experience?
That said, I would love GW to AoSify 40K because I would rather play Age of Emporer for free than not play the expensive mess that 40K has become.

2+ reroll on a 4+
Librarians can only cast the number of powers EQUAL to their mastery level (nerfing the conclave some)
Invis Nerf is universal, affects everyone equally.
2+ rerollable to 4+ is universal. Eldar marines or demons are all affected the same.
That was not a casting Nerf. That is how the rule actually works.

given the pushback from moving away from 6th to 7th after only 2 years I doubt it happens before 2018, IF it does happen they will likely see an exedous of players tired of buying new rule books every few year unless the rules are close to flawless and make he game more streamlined and fun.

Tau can get none of the two above and thus are not affected by the nerfs, yet I'm assuming you had no problems with them?

GW's basic business plan is to change the game frequently to keep people buying new books and models. The problem is when this leads them to change things so rapidly or so greatly that players get fed up and drop out, which is what clearly happened from the launch of 6th edition onwards.
Pricing naturally was part of the reason, and GW are currently addressing their pricing problem with boxed sets offering great value. Maybe GW will also reduce the price of rulebooks.

I think this might be part of the reason GW have been moving towards selling boxed games. There's been a lot released lately, and a lot of hype for a few of them, how much if those sales will make up for the lack of 40k box set sales as 7th edition becomes older and thus slows naturally. That could be part of a plan to extend the life of 7th and stabilise the game. Who knows. Like you said people get pissed off if they are continually getting the rug pulled from under them. The smart business model would be to find the sweet spot where people are happy to switch to a new edition.
My guess is that 8th will hit somewhere between mid 2017 and late 2018, but then what the hell do I know. When did rogue trader release? Maybe they will want to tie it to that anniversary.
