Thanks everyone! It really helps me to keep the chaos mojo rolling.

@ Fifty - thanks for the great name suggestions. I am coming to the horrible realization, however, that there is no way in hell that I'm going to remember 70+ cultist names! For really characterful models I will probably name them, and maybe I may even remember them. Also, I finally got my order of 32mm bases, so I will be getting back to those gothic pattern marines pretty soon.

@ VyRa - I am flattered! Steal away

Well, my semester finally ended, and I have winter break to do some serious modeling. My goal is to have a Kill Team built by the beginning of next semester. Since I'm such a slow painter, I won't even set myself up to fail on that one. It'll be tough enough with the amount of models it will entail. Here is the list:

Spoiler:
Renegade Infantry Platoon
Squad 1
20x renegades
militia training
2x special weapons (meltaguns probably)
2x heavy bolters or autocannons (maybe a mixture)

Squad 2
16x renegades
militia training

Squad 3
10x renegades

That is a total of 46 models. I want the majority of these renegades armed with lasguns/autoguns instead of ccw, so a lot of the models that I have already built won't be included. Smallpox and his companions will be included, however! Now, I have just finished the last step of green stuffing these 10 guys:

Overall, I am pretty happy with them. They're definitely unique at least. I used ghoul legs with catachan torsos & arms, warrior of chaos helmets, and some marauder bits thrown in. The exposed buttocks add to their feral look I think. I plan on painting them with the same grey skin tone as the little horrors.

Also, during my winter break, I want to get some of my army's fluff from out of my head, and written down legibly & coherently (I have a bunch of sticky notes & memo pads full of fluff; yes, I have issues). Then, I'll post concise bits here.

Well, I think that's if from me for now. I have 5 more ranged mutants on my desk waiting for mold line removal. Honestly, this has to be the worst part of the hobby. I have so many models sticky tacked that are just begging to be assembled. It's not even funny. *Lamenting over* Hopefully, I'll have an update sooner rather than later. As always, have a great day blessed by the powers of chaos.

Then suddenly I saw it. With only a slight churning to mark its rise to the surface, the thing slid into view above the dark waters. Vast, Polyphemus-like, and loathsome, it darted like a stupendous monster of nightmares to the monolith, about which it flung its gigantic scaly arms, the while it bowed its hideous head and gave vent to certain measured sounds. I think I went mad then.

Damn Chaos cults, always skipping leg day!

Seriously though, they're looking good, quite creepy with the mix of skinny legs and muscly torsos.

Those are some really fun conversions! creepy too. I like the vest on the one helmed guy. It's just such an odd mish-mash, but it works.

Subscribing and all.

Thank you all very much! I'm glad you all like them. I was determined to utilize those blasted ghoul legs, and that is what became of it. I am really looking forward to painting them, but, of course, my airbrush is being moody.

Anyways, sorry for such a late progress update. So much for my 46 model goal. To be honest, we all knew that that wasn't going to happen. Besides my arch-nemesis, mold lines, nearly repelling my every attempt at progression, I've had these Christmas gifts delaying me:

However, I was able to get these three mutants built and mold line free (sorry for the crappy pictures; I'll try to remedy that soon).

I am really pleased with the mutant boss. The moment I noticed the Gork (or Mork) pendant around his neck, I set about carving it out for a glorious star of chaos. Despite my slow progress, I have now completed 18 ranged mutants with another 4 really close to being finished. As always, thanks for looking, and have a great day, blessed by the gods of chaos.

Clever conversion !

@KernelTerror - Thank you! I can attest to the trickiness

@Kurnost - Thank you! The Eye of Terror campaign book is what sparked my interest. I have a few models on my desk that are inspired by some of the book's artwork that I'll post soon enough (hopefully).

Thankfully, I was able to maintain some momentum, and have six (six! I'm so happy with myself!) more mutants ready for primer.

Here is a close-up of my converted guns from Empire militia crossbows and styrene tubing (barrels drilled of course). I am pleasantly surprised at how well they came out.

And I present to you, the Little Drummer Boy (I couldn't resist):

With these six built, my mutant horde has been bolstered to thirty-nine! My Kill Team goal may be reachable after all. Although they're not all armed with lasguns/autoguns, they should still be fun to play with. As always, thanks for looking, and have a great day blessed by the chaos gods!

Very nice and gribbly horde there, good sir! So much versatility will look glorious once painted. I wonder what models you used for those cloaked renegades on the first page? Are they all just empire flagellants or somesuch?
Also, you mentioned using the IG codex, but with the Allies matrix they would not fare well when coupled with CSM and Daemons, so I'd suggest using the IA 13 army list of the lost and damned... seems "official" enough for games.

Keep up the schemes for the Powers, brother!

They are actually from the GW ghouls kit. The biggest problems I've had with the Plague Monks are getting non-Skaven arms to fit & the head indention, neckhole, thingie. They both are pretty easily fixed with some GS. So far, I've used Empire Militia, Chaos Cultists, Chaos Marauders & GW Zombie bits to fit with little hassle. For the heads, I first make a blob of GS like so:

Then, I squish it into the head socket, and pull it slightly out to make a neck. I forgot to take the final photo. But, after ~20-30 minutes, I go back and cut into the excess GS, and make a neck. Hopefully, that helps a little bit. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with Skaven though!

You have an excellent eye, good sir! He is a flagellant with a zombie arm & an empire knight arm. I have forgotten to edit my first post. Soon after I started this blog, a friend gave me IA 13, and I have been pouring through it crazily! My 2000 pt goal will have a primary detachment of Renegades & Heretics (probably with a mutant overlord; who can say no to 3 chaos spawn at 55pts?!) and a Word Bearers Grand Host. The only complaint I have with IA 13 is the lack of rough riders. Somehow I will figure a way to have mutant rough riders!

It's been a little while, but I have some progress to show for it. First up, I have some more diminutive mutants:

When I saw the gong bits, I immediately thought of this from Darkest Dungeon:
"Cultists rally to their twisted idols and great gongs sound in anticipation of the coming sacrifices"
-The Ancestor

My brother gave me the Tentale Maker Tool Set for my birthday, and I love them! While perusing through Eye of Terror book, I had an idea for Bane-esque roid range traitor guardsmen. I will admit that Bain is one of the worst villains, but he does look awesome. Here's what I came up with:

I wanted to make something that had a bit more technologically advanced weaponry, yet still look barbaric/medieval. My problem has been the lack of guns, I think. Thankfully, I found this awesome tutorial, but had a problem peeling the styreene. So, I did some googling trying to find some inspiration. Then, I found this beauty:

By beauty, I mean bare bones. The simplicity of the bechowiec-1 was exactly what I was looking for. I figured that, if you want to arm a huge amount of mutants & cultists quickly, one would have to do it cheaply. The scene from The Lord of the Rings where Saruman is creating forges to quickly arm his Uruk-hai came to mind. So, I came up with these:

I think they came out alright. If any of you has another idea for another simple looking pistol or SMG, please let me know; I certainly want to hear them!

Although I really like kit bashing, I finished reading the Word Bearers anthology by Anthony Reynolds (which has blown my mind by how awesome it is). Now I have a bunch of fluff swirling in my head that I want to write down and actually post for my warband. The basic plot germ is that a company of Venom Thorns converted to chaos after their betrayal by the Imperium. They were then absorbed into the Word Bearer's 259th Host. Although they have become fervent followers of Lorgar and his teachings, they still hold aspects of their Dorn heritage. Hopefully, I will be able to expand on this in my next post (which I hope will be soon!).

As always, thank you all very much, and have a great day blessed by the chaos gods!

-LostCarcosa, a new & fervent disciple of the daemon-primarch, Lorgar

P.S. - did I mention how awesome the Word Bearers anthology is? because what I mean is it is really really mind shatteringly awesome!

It is an oath we honour. I love the creativity, time and thought put into these models and your lore.

I'm hoping I can resurrect my Death Guard with a new edition of 40K my son feels more inclined to play.

You've inspired me to start a second blog if we get back into it. Most of my creative sculpting was centered around my Chaos army.

Well done. Cheers and thanks for posting.
