Plaster or spackle would likely work and be relatively cheap and easy to do.

I... actually don't know. Help?

A quick update! I've worked a lot on this.

The board and army as of now.

A Razorback filled with Grey Hunters advance on the ridge.

The Dreadnoughts and the Wolf Lords Watch over the army.

Unfortunately Imgur crashed after these photos, but as you can see on the overview there are Thunderwolves and Fenrisian Wolves running together with Bikers and the finished Knight (yay!). Long Fangs stand by the hill, and the terminators advance behind them.

This is cool, i'm guessing ats a project for next year now though?

An interesting way of adding texture to polystyrene iv'e seen is adding watered down pva soaked kitchen roll drapped over the top.

Love the flgs.

Yup, I'm sketching for next year. It'll be based on some solid wood this time, and with minial sculpting. I'm thinking a viking longhouse on fire, with lots of wolves all around it. I've got mostly infantry left to paint so that would be fitting.

I want to start really early this time though. I want to experiment a lot more with terrain techniques and plaster and rock moulds, and challenge myself. Last time was mostly things I knew how to do, but I want something new.

I have a lot to paint too, 3 dreads, 30+ infantry and several other things. Unfortunately I'll probably not have a superheavy such as the knight :( I want something big though, some centerpiece. Any ideas?

And yes, I know of the kitchen roll technique, but I prefer things like spackle and plaster since they'll be more solid.

And thanks for the kind words!

And I'm hoping for gold next year... I was incredibly happy for the silver, but I need some motivation.
Can you add "Won silver in Armies on Parade 2016" to your resume?

Please do come with ideas! I want to plan a lot this time.

Brilliant! how did you forget to post that! Well done! Looks really good, didn't look like you finnihed but that shows you did, and well! I think you can definitely add that to your CV.

You should get a cestus assault barge thing for your centre piece, there awesome models. Or make one.

Thanks!

If I'm having a flier I want the SW specific one, but maybe a Land Raider? I want something big at least. Probably 2-3 vehicles.

Okay, I think I just got the best idea ever.

The board will be based on a MDF/wood board, 1-2cm thick. On top of that I'll have 5-7cm of styrofoam to sculpt. The wolves will be standing on a mountain-y plateau, with the sides dropping off a bit. No ruins, mostly things like sandbags and barricades.

The cool part is this: I want my wolves to be a bit more chaos-y, to allow me to tie them into a future Daemon/CSM force. How would I represent this? Blood Claws converted from AOS Bloodreavers, and Rune Priests summoning Daemons!
And, drumroll please, a crack in the mountain. Maybe 5-6 cm wide, with lamps and other effects underneath. And daemons coming out of it.

Yes, I will be having daemons crawling out of the crack. Wolves in a circle around it, with 2-3 rune priests standing beside it.

This would be so cool.
