The job posting is a lie. Really it should just say "You will spend your day deleting posts/threads where people are asking why our products are so overpriced."

Again this works on assumption there are much posting/threads in the site. I seriously doubt it's going to be forum system like dakka has.

Also they could off source the part of moderating for free for some fans. Get job done for free

The mods on the old Eye of Terror were volunteers and they were rather good.

I suspect it was a fairly thankless task and that may have contributed towards the closure of the site.

I'd think that a 'community site' would something else than just a forum. Or they'd call it, you know, a forum.

Perhaps they're trying to do what the old, old White Dwarf did - have community members produce content that is then edited by the site staff.

I hope they go a PP way or the old SG forum they had but i expect to be more like a reddit system that is heavily modded

Also the job ad speaks more about writing and articles than talking with customers. So if there's posting features that's more of sideshow over the real meat I expect.

They probably investigate if they can TM "miniature games forum" as a concept they invented with the original White Dwarf .
If they cant, its probably not worth it.

They might settle for FB as the fan interaction, but I find it strange not to have a forum if its supposed to be a Community.

I just think it's hard for GW to come up with enough interesting information and news to fill up all the different things they seem to be doing.

I dunno. They seem to be capable of generating enough discussion here through their one step forward, two steps back (or more recent moonwalking in place) strategy to keep dakka a thriving community. Obviously we discuss more than just the "H"obby here but GW stuff is still the most frequent topic of discussion.

Why is everyone assuming that there will be forums? I see nothing to indicate that there will be forums. I see something more akin to Dakka's 'Articles' section with the job posting being the editor who oversees the articles and decides which get published, sent back to the author for a rewrite or rejected.

That is hardly a community, if you cant comment on said articles its basically an editorial with guest editors.

i mean they already have white dwarf daily thing.

Yet its supported by the job posting. Forums are not.

Forums would probably be a terrible idea at this point. I think something more like a blog with comments would be the way to go. Even if some of us forum users don't consider that "community" enough, a blog with social media integration is probably a good way to run an online community.
