Dantes would you run two Sicarans or one with Obliterators? It's possible to have two Sicarans and two squads of Obliterators with the Purges four heavy slots, or one Sicaran and three solo Obliterators, which could work well?

The Red Corsair speaks the truth. I have run Maulerfiends, Sicarans, Havocs, and Obliterators. The Vindicator Laser Destroyer is far and away the best heavy support unit Chaos Space Marines can take. It's cheap as bones which means it doesn't hurt when your opponent goes all out to kill it. This laser Destroyer is AP 1 and has a 48" range. Most of them do not get this, but this one does. It's twin-linked always and can fire 1-2-3 times, your choice.
Loyalists can take it to, but don't because of Centurions. CSM doesn't get centurions so they can to go to war with the Vindicator Laser Destroyer. Kit bash it from a chaos vindicator or splurge to Nottingham to buy the original just get yourself a pair of these guys on the tabletop. You'll never regret it.

It also puts out enough shots to kinda hurt MC's too. You'd still need multiple to get the job done, but still.

Why can't my railgun hammerhead have these kind of abilities :\
Anyway, as people said, the "classic" choice for CSM HS are nurgle oblits for versatility, and autocannon havocs for budget.
Anyyhing else is just fun.
Though, if you are running a murderpack to begin with, than the "dreadnought saturation" path might be a good idea, and as such maulfiends and forgefiends are both interesting choices.

Becuase it's not from forgeworld?
Can't you get a bunch of rapier laser destroyers for cheaper/shot if you're already going down the forgeworld path?

Rapiers too, are not tau, nor mounted on the gorgeous hammerhead chassis.

It should be noted that originally the Vindicator w/ Laser Destroyer didn't have the Power Capacitor rule; FW added it later when it became apparent that replacing a Demolisher Cannon with a Laser Destroyer for a few points wasn't ever worth it.
GW-main unfortunately don't tend to think like that...

Just some notes to add:
Take oblits in 2's, and skip the VotLW if you plan to sit back. Losing two oblits to a failed LD check hurts. One is easier to lose if it happens. Nurgle is almost autotake. Optionally, DS with a kitted out lord for a phenominal midfield control unit that can rape 85% of the game right now.
Preds are good, as noted, but I would rather have Vindicators with seige shield and demonic possession. It shoots, and keeps shooting. Can hug cover for saves. Better with 2, or Maulerfiends, for priority defense.
Forgefiend is only worth the points with the BL formation that gives him BS5 with a warpsmith, or a psyker with Divination. In both cases that thing becomes monsterous. If you take the formation, remember only one gets the BS boost, so take a Mauler for the other slot.
4 Havocs with Autocannons and a Div Psyker are the definition of efficient. 4 ignore cover autocannons are bad for bikes and skimmers, which are really popular around my area, and can pull AA duty, ID T3 models, and generally glance the bejeesus out of things. Super good unit, especially given an Aegis w/ Quadgun, which is my preferred set up.
Everything else: Good sometimes but almost never point efficient. IMO

Ally in Soul Grinders from Daemons or heavy support from RH.
Soul Grinders can be bombardment artillery or short ranged support - and with MoT a 4++ save.
RH offers almost the whole IG arsenal with tanks, artillery, HWTs and (not from IG) MC Spawns.

I know OP said no FW, but this is turning in to an interesting discussion and someone already mentioned the Sicaran so... What about the Fire Raptor Gunship? Not only does the model look awesome, but it is a very strong flyer. The avenger cannon is a solid gun capable putting the hurt on MEQ, while the turrets are just fantastic since they can each fire at separate targets (autocannons seem like a no-brainer for the turrets). And last but not least, it has helstrike missiles that can hurt tanks or be upgraded to cover ignoring blast for camping squads.

Yeah, they're pretty slick. Too bad they can't be taken in squadrons like in 30k. If only the rapier version had longer range.
