Just bought the box. I don't actually plan on using it just yet, but the deal is (for once) too good to miss.

Agreed. Releasing Eldrad without some more Eldar would just be weird. I am hoping for more plastic Aspect Warriors. Bring on the Striking Scorpions!

There were rumors of new Guardians and Warlocks which would make sense to come out with Eldrad as it would fit with an Ulthwe theme.

I think when we see plastic Phoenix Lords or Avatar of Khaine, Aspect Warriors will be on there way soon after

I wouldn't be surprised to see a campaign book linked to this at some point down the line. Isn't that what they did with Shield of Baal?

No not at all. They already placed Eldrad among harlequins ( and without aspect warriors) in the beast arises.
Eldrad =/= a mainstream craftworlder in the recent books.

Considering the release after this one is a CSM supplement called 'Traitors Hatred' I'm guessing this is a single release along the lines of the Tau commander.

I do expect them to release some cool new "wulfen" style eldar releases during the new upcoming campaign to follow up this box.

I'll be the first to admit, the Deathwatch models look great. I'm not a big SM fan, but might even get a copy.

However, considering all of the Ynnead/Eldar-centric teases that Games Workshop has been putting out all week, I was getting really excited for some new lore/models/rules for them, or Slaanesh, or...well, anything. I can't be the only one in this boat, right?

How can you be? Look at the monetary value alone, each faction exceed the $150 retail tag, plus you get the mini rulebook. A must buy if you have the wallet.

Yeah if I wasn't skint I'd be getting two boxes, as it is splurging on one is pushing it, but I have a birthday coming up and it can count as my indulgence for that.

I'm impressed with the sculpts, and the Deathwatch is unassailably cool, but I'm gonna pass. I have so much DA and Tau to paint that it doesn't make sense to start a third army. I love what GW is doing, but it's not for me right now.

I'm kind of in the same boat. This is some really cool stuff (and I love DW fluff), but I'm already trying to finish my C:SM army and start an AoS army, so I'm gonna have to put this on the "Maybe someday" list alongside Tyranids, Genestealer Cults, Adeptus Mechanicus, and Imperial Guard.

I think you might not have read my initial post? I'm disappointed in the lack of new Eldar/Eldar story/etc., which was the primary thing they were teasing all week. Not in the box as a whole. I understand GW wanting to pander to the SM fanboys, and I'm sure this will be financially lucrative for them, but I wish they hadn't led us on. Hopefully the other posters here are right in that new Eldar are down the road.

But why do we? I am fed up with seeing yet more 'muhreens this and muhreens that'. Just give us something else GW, update one of the other codexes. Give Chaos something decent, make Guard competitive again and for feths sake give the Sisters an actual codex and model update.

games workshop's sales hinges on the marines, everything else sells so god awfully because of years of customer abuse and bad buisness modelling that if they dont sell marines between other releases things simply dont have the financial holding to survive. games workshop financially is dying the slow death of a thousand papercuts and thrashing to stay alive violently. this is just another manifestation of said attempt at breathing and living another few months. its like a hardcore meth junkie, they will literally die without their drug hit, be that from suicide or from actual medical complication brought up by their chemical reliance on it.

the only real solution would be to dwonsacle the game, downsale the way they do buisness, and basically go underground as a company to not go forward with such a plan as crazy as it is. and so these things will need to happen. i expect a chaos release to follow this (see traitors hate), followed by maybe a grey knights codex update and more marines followed by more non imperials followed by more marines. this is the cycle and only the length of time between the next marines release is in question

DA army: 3500pts,
admech army: 600pts
ravenguard: 565 pts

Deathwatch are cooler than literally any concept Guard has to offer, that's why.

Sisters need to be scrapped at this point and CSM needs more than a simple re-release.

And that's why GW does it - they can sell "cool" very easily, but it's a lot more effort/less lucrative on its face to go back and do things like fixing Guard armies for all of those people whose collections are sitting unused. Then, 8 months down the road, the Deathwatch "cool" factor will wear off and something else will be needed.

I bought the box and codex, even though the more I think about it the less likely I am to field either force. The price was too good to pass up.

Scraped? We need Sisters now more than ever as we have 2 out of 3 of the main chamber militant branches of the Inquisition up to date and in plastic.

If I didn't have already several marine armies I might get one. But as it is I have bazillion marines already. Don't need any more and we have too many famous chapters involved in our campaign as it is(blood angels, dark angels, space wolves). Pushing realm of belief already with these chapters...Too much special snowflake syndrome for our story to involve deathwatch as well.

Harlequins would be bit more tempting though to bolster eldar but...Well eldar themseles are still small and frankly next miniature purchaces will be legends of the old west and flames of war related.

Cool release no doubt but not good timing for our group and for our story.

If I could find somebody local who would want to split box with me getting harlies I might consider that though...

CSM's will never get anything more than re-hashed 3rd edition poo while Jervis is still around... We're not even allowed to have functional Land Raiders, despite being limited to the crappiest version of them!

At least Daemons & FW can let us make Loyalists cry OP/broken shenanigans, but I have no faith at this point that actual power armoured Chaos Marines will ever become playable.

My local red shirt told me we can expect things stirring up in October, with several campaign books, being Khan the Betrayer the 1st to show up.

Pretty much confirmed the rumours so now it's a matter of waiting.

P.S: it also make some veiled comment about Death Masque being somehow limited run that could be replaced in a 3+ months period (he just stated his *personal opinion* ) with newer ones for further forces coming down with those campaign books.

Also it confirmed me the new monthly WD it's pretty mucht rying to get back to the old roots of articles and ideas so let's see how that pans out.

Not at all! The deal is pretty amazing - the harlies alone separately cost more than the box price.
