I still think it's cleverly played.
Let's assume this next HH boxed game is $150 (so $122-125 at discount).
You include plastic sisters of silence...particularly if they're easy conversion fodder for Sisters of Battle (despite people decrying the difference they're a head-swap and a backpack from looking the part in a lot of the art). Boom, you've just sold the game or at least sprues to the SoB players.
You include custodes. Even with no rules for them, you have limited edition "super duper" figures in a box...well you've now captured all of the people who want those special figures (for use as marines, honor guard, conversions, etc.).
You add Space Wolves and Thousand Sons and you'll grab all of the HH players and current 40K players who want special models/bits/characters etc.
You'll have an awful lot of eBay sales but you're also going to sell a heck of a lot of $125+ boxes to a variety of customers. I think it's all rather smart.

We all know the box will sell well. That's a given since people have been clamoring for custodes models for literally over a decade now (or possibly two decades?) Anything on top of that is just peachy.
However the Sisters of Silence look vastly different from the SoBs and we already have some cheap fodder for conversion (Kabalites) so if this does become a thing, I doubt it's planned.

Plastic Sister of Silence as a "counts as" Culexus Assassin for my happily all metal SoB army. I'll take it.
Not holding my breath on this meaning plastic SoB though.

I personally think it's a shame that the Deathwatch or whatever game that had the Genestealer Cult didn't have Arbites in place of marines --- but I'm sure a product has to have marines to sell as a boxed game.
A new line of plastic Arbites vs. Genestealer Cult = pretty damn cool. Oh well, no luck.

I fail to see how that's even close to "more than half an aesthetic". Automatically Appended Next Post: The boots do not look anywhere near the same-- the front of the Sisters of Silence boots are armored but nothing else is, while the entirety of the sisters of Battle legs are armored, for example, and the Sisters of Silence boots are far more segmented. The torso armor of the Sisters of Silence looks dramatically different, with the only real similarity being the boob-cups. The sisters of silence gauntlets look like stitched leather, compared to the metal gauntlets of the sisters of battle, and the silence arms have the weird protrusions on the elbows with no sleeves. The sisters of silence have astartes style pauldrons, albeit toned down in size, compared to the fluted epaulets of the sororitas. The sisters of silence wear a cape or cloak, while the Sororitas do not. Even the neckguard is dramatically different between the two, with the sisters of silence neckguard including a grill covering the mouth, part of their symbolism, while the sororitas one instead has plating and tubing to go along with their helmet rebreather. You might as well be saying Cadian armor shares more than half an aesthetic with Astartes armor.

No one is saying it's a 1:1 match, but if you can't convert the first image into the second, your imagination might be broken.

I reckon there is an inverse correlation between the opinion that SoS and SoB look alike and the degree to which a person cares about either or both factions. It's like the people complaining that Custodes are "just more Space Marines." Okay! I take your point, big guys in armor. And here we have ladies in armor. Not very insightful, however.

They don't look that much alike, honestly. But they're close enough that I'd actually buy SoS armor as a rare variant of the SoB armor, where some orders use it but most think it's untraditional or something like that. Not so far as to actually think it's heresy, mind you - more like, some Orders think the usual stuff reminds them a little too much of the Bad Old Days under Vandire, so they like something that harkens back to the old Sisters of Silence. Everyone else thinks those Orders are weird but mostly lets them carry on being weird, since they're faithful in every other way.

The similarities are "they're two women in armor that has boob-cups", and that's it. You might as well also say Meganobz and Terminators are basically the same. Either way you're objectively wrong.

Anyway, I dont see what people are all het up about, I can see the resemblance there. With a bit of converting it may be possible to have a full army of Sisters in plastic.... Multipart plastic SoB *drools*

I see a lot of resemblance - the corset style chest plate, the greaves, the purity seals adorning the armour in every possible place.
Does that make them SoB? No, not at all, but in the same way people might proxy a regular Space Marine as a Space Wolf, you could probably get away with proxying these as SoB (if they look like they do in those drawings, of course).
I wouldn't count them as an SoB release if they did come to life though, and would still be pandering for some real Sororitas.

I'm not saying that a fully built to code, properly assembled and painted plastic sister of silence is a dead ringer for a sister of battle. I'm only saying that by virtue of them being visibly female humans wearing armour in a distinctly Imperium aesthetic, they are far and away superior conversion candidates than the current leading contenders (which are, currently, dark eldar).
To use your analogy: yes, Custodes look very different from space marines. But if you could only build space marines by converting them, a custodes model would be a naturally better starting point than, say, a fire warrior.

I just don't see the point. The Deldar bodies are, at most, armatures. Why not just buy some third-party Sisters? Is the goal to play at a GW store or something? If that's the case, why not just buy existing GW Sister models? Yes that guy is creative and talented. But the award for "most suitable foundation for a conversion requiring tons of skill, effort, and time" is irrelevant to this thread. No doubt there are great hobbyists out there who will be able to use prospective SoS plastics to make great SoB conversions. Just like is already happening without SoS plastics.

Sorry but to me it does look like GW trolled the dozen or so SoB players.
They specifically stated plastic sisters and then released plastic SoS.
Why have the cheap knock offs when you can have the originals.
Fluff wise we are getting magnus and a large demon incursion, it's going to take a lot of SoB blood to protect the entire GK chapter. What is left will join the Arbites as a tiny fluff only force.

The quote is "These aren't out for a few months off. (Notice the period at the end of the statement, separating it from the next statement) Plastic Sisters of Battle!"
It suggest that in addition to SoS there will be new models and or codexes and THEN plastic sisters. So I'd expect them in Fall of 2017.

Exalted. Although I would say, it would quieten down SoB players as well, to my relief. As much as I sympathise and want to collect Sisters some day, it does get kinda boring when this same level of conversation surfaces again and again.
