I love the idea of the Elysians, but i seem to be in the minority that thinks the forge world models look awful. id like to convert up a bunch but i also feel like the roster of available of units is a bit lacking. I don't really want to paint up 5 Valkyries...

Savlar Chem Dogs are my boys, cant beat scummy gas-mask-wearing, drug-using convicts

Second favorite would probably be Steel Legion

Mordians, don't let those fancy dress uniforms distract you from the sheer badassery underneath. A close second is the Steel Legion because in the grimdark future every soldier gets his own personal armoured transport.

I honestly like boring, vanilla Cadians. Really. Other than that, I dig the Elysians for their spec-op style and air cavalry tactics. Really cool regiment.

Hi guys,

I just purchased about 200 Death Korp of Krieg models from forgeworld including command squads for company as well as platoon, DKOK comissars, heavy weapon teams and special weapons for platoons. I also bought 2 manticores, 3 chimeras, 2 medusa artillery carriages, and 5 wyversn. Basically going for big platoons with artillery to back them up.

This got me thinking, from a militarized perspective, what's your favorite regiment, and why? I like the Death Korp of Krieg, because I love the great coats and the WW1 feel to them. What do you guys like and what do you play?

Damn son, you spend your entire heritage?

jokes aside, I love the Kaskrins.. doesn't count as a regiment but w/e.

Mordian Iron Guard. I got 150 of the Steely eyed killers now!
Also they are kinda reflected in the rules, I use the Emperors Shield Infantry Company in a "Mordian" (Cadian) Battlegroup detachment. Rerolling 1s to hit with lasguns and everyone getting FRFSRF really fits with the whole ranked up, volley fire line infantry vibe.

6000 pts of Foot Guard

Tanith First and Only. Really enjoyed the Gaunt's Ghosts books. One of the few regiments I know the backstory for. However, in the books they come off as totally overpowered and very much the embodiment of W40k fiction.

For the models, the old inquisitorial Stormtroopers now have a unique vibe while aging relatively well compared to some of the other OOP (now back in production) regiments.

God I love those old Stormtroopers.

For Regiments I love the look of the Vostroyans. They embody the idiosyncratic aesthetic of 40K.

My own, obviously! But out of the official ones? It's so hard to pick...

Top three would probably be the Death Korps, the Elysian Drop Troopers (all, what, two platoons left after they get slaughtered in every other Forge World book), and the Savlar Chem-Dogs. Nothing says dehumanizing grimdark Imperium like Krieg, the Elysians are quintessential future drop troops and I have a soft spot for those, and the Chem-Dogs...I've got a soft spot for penal troopers too, and there's something darkly cheerful about how they're allowed to loot whatever they want and their, uh, unique method of being kept in line. Who needs explosive collars when they can just send you back to Savlar instead?

I think I posted this image in the last favorite regiment thread that came up, but whatever, I'mma do it again:

It really sums up the appeal of the Death Korps. They're marching off to defend whatever world they're on, a civilian wants to show her thanks with a token gesture, and they just...don't get it. Why do they need a flower? What is a flower, anyway? They're getting a chance to martyr themselves for the Imperium and pay for the rebellion of their planet, and that's all they care about.

I absolutely love this artwork.

You say Fiery Crash! I say Dynamic Entry!

*Increases Game Point Limit by 100*: Tau get two Crisis Suits and a Firewarrior. Imperial Guard get two infantry companies, artillery support, and APCs.

I know, right? I remember when Armageddon was released and they had a mechanised Steel Legion and Storm Trooper army in their White Dwarf battle report... I fell completely in love and have wanted them ever since.

My more current, up-to-date dream/wishlist is using Elysian Drop Troopers in Valkyries, full respirators and equipment packs (not the jump jet things), kitted out to the nines with grenages, demo charges, extra ammo, etc... all painted in Delta Force Mogadishu scheme (as seen in Black Hawk Down). Those would be my Storm Troopers - Sabre Squadron, 9th Company, Ultima Division, if you want to get specific, lol.

Krieg! What a hole...

Yeah, a tiny part of me still clings to the hopes of seeing Elysian style Stormtroopers, the artwork for e'm was ace. I've also considered making my own Stormies out of Elysians like you, but I opted for getting every flavor of Stormtroopers and making an army from there.
