Which also my prediction for Codex Adeptus Astartes. 99% existing material, from the codex and Angels of Death, but walkers will be upgraded to MCs in 8th.

Codexes that have still have Walkers: Ork, CSM, SM, AM, AS
Codexes that will likely be updated in 8th: Ork, CSM, SM, AS

Where is this idea even coming from? Wraithlords and Battlesuits have traditionally been MCs, nothing has switched from Walker to MC. New books still have Walkers. Necrons, AdMech, SW, etc.

Secondary question: What new Walkers have been printed since 3e? (By my count they're all either superheavies (Imperial Knights), variants on existing Walkers (the Wasp, new Dreadnaughts), or have too many legs (Onagers, weird Khornate scuttly things in IA13). Except for the Ironstrider/Dragoon.)

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

The Fenris campaign books also have a TON of fluff. Not dissimilar to the End Times campaign books for Fantasy. Commence panic and burning of a Tyranid army on YouTube.

Id say we are still a good year out from the end. And I think it would be a dark eldar army burning on youtube if the parody is to remain constant.

As someone with 12 Raiders, 4 Ravagers, 9 Venoms 4 Razorwings, a bomber (yes I have one) literally 20+ Incubi, 20+ Mandrakes, 70ish Warriors, 40ish Wyches, 24 Grots, 40 ish Wracks,.... you know what, you get the point.

I wouldnt Burn my army, I would instead send it back to GW with a Middle finger up on every model all painted with my gak.

Im honestly about to play the 5th ed book b.c it is more fun to play.

Hi Dakka

This may be a silly question and indeed has probably been asked/answered in previous threads (very brief search comes up with nothing).

GW have released the Traitors Hate book and now the Traitor Legions book, why on earth did they not release a new CSM codex? I have a few theories but find it very frustrating going from a very out of date codex, it came out in 2012 if I'm not mistaken, that coming up to 5 years!!!

Is it because GW wants to spark the interest in CSM again but due to the lack of up to date models they need time to rerelease all the legion marines before releasing a brand new spanking glossy codex with all the new models and rules that they can then leave for another 5 years? Or is it because 8th is round the corner and there will be a big shake up to the format?

Now I'm not moaning or complaining but have been waiting for Chaos to be updated for three years now, love the new models and the new GW but wanted to get some thoughts of the state of play before dipping my toe in the traitor pool.

Why make the community buy one book with everything in it, when they can instead get you to buy three?

It never ends well

Yeah, okay, that happened 20 years and 5 editions ago, it's not indicative of what GW will do tomorrow.

"MC's that should have been walkers" like the Dreadknight have also existed for a couple of editions now and all traditional Walkers have survived a couple of Codex updates already since this alleged paradigm shift. In fact, Walkers changing to MCs has been in the rumour mill at least as far back as the switch from 3rd to 4th edition in 2004, right along with Blood Angels falling to Chaos.

Dreadnaughts are a legacy unit. Marines and Orks have them, mostly because they've always had them. They've created variants, but none of the newer armies have recieved dreadnaughts, they always get a MC instead. Battle for Vedros already has the Dreadnaught with a MC statline.

There needs to be some change in 8E to make you buy the Space Marine Codex again. That's a big enough change, it stream lines the rules, fixes balance issues, and effectively buffs Dreanughts, which will increase sales.

Anyone who thinks 8th is getting simplified, this is a no brainer way to do it, by eliminating the special rules for dreadnaughts all together.

Blood Angels falling to Chaos is ludicrous. Their primarch was the most loyal and dedicated of the Primarchs. Sanguinius was the only primarch to immediately follow the Emperor and is the poster child for heroic Martyrdom for Space Marines. It's also fluff related, and not rules related, so completely irrelevant as well.
