Hey thanks for the replies guys. I'll keep the limitations in mind when I get around to it. I was thinking of eventually having 3 units of 4 windriders, each led by a warlock and with a single scattergun each.

Talking to the local 40k facebook group, it looks like there's a well developed gentlemen's accord. It can be very competitive, but many are happy to "forge the narrative."

I was at the dork store today to play a different game and there was a 40k tournament going on. All the tables were stunning!

A 5-man tactical squad with a missile launcher can't beat a 2000 point Eldar army. Eldar are OP.

This is a massive strawman, and you perfectly well know it.

It's a crazy thing called a joke, it's strange you don't know what they are considering all your posts on this forum fall under that category.

Pssst don't try and argue with traditio, it never ends well, just ignore!

Anyways, as long as you don't abuse scatterbikes, warp spiders or wraith units, you'll be pretty okay unless you run into TFG

Still not even half as much of a straw man as most of your recent arguments.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

+1 to ignoring Traditio. His opinions are...bad. If you like the look of Eldar, play what you enjoy. It's a game. You need to have fun. And avoid players like Traditio. They kill the aspect of fun. If you can beat down a squad of marines carrying a flamer and missile launcher, you're playing an OP list to people like him.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

The extra issue here is that someone at GW decided that the entire range needs to be stuck with 10-12-year-old models, except for Jetbikes, Wraith units, and the flyers. Aspects are cool but they're also terrible in Finecast (Finecast worked fine for most Space Marine models, but the skinnier the model is the more likely you need to go trawl Ebay for the metal version so it doesn't shatter when sneezed on), and the 3e plastics look bizarrely chunky next to newer stuff.

It isn't really fair to complain about people buying the only nice models in the range, even if they are D-weapons and Eldar jetbikes.

Let's be fair, what Traditio is failing to realize is that Eldar are designed to be OP in very narrow specialized areas. Example; Firedragons are designed to Murder vehicles and heavy armor infantry, if you send dreadnoughts or terminators after them then yes, they will be very op in that regard, but send gaunts, or guardsmen at them and they don't stand a chance.

Eldar units are a great example of paper rock scissors, just attack them with something opposite of their specialized purpose. That being said, to the point of the thread, I find that as long as I don't spam units, I can field scatter bikes with very few grumbles, a single squad of 6 bikes with SLs tend to be competitive but not game dominating. A single squad of anything is tough and fun, but multiple of a single unit is both boring and hard to fight if the opponent doesn't spam counter units of his/her own.

I think he has a right to turn you down though. BA have access the mighty flamer/missile tac squad in a rhino, while being Space Marines +1 with their furious charge. Way too op for his liking.

You get Furious charge and your foc gives +1 Init on the charge. That and Death Company makes you SO OP! You need nerfing so badly. Way better than Marines.

I object to BA Tactical Squads on principle because for some reason that apparently makes sense in GW-logic they get heavy flamers while my Salamanders don't, but not enough to refuse games against them.

Found a funny time-lapse video of a Finecast Huron sitting on someone's dashboard in the sun next to a clock and a thermometer stubbornly refusing to melt once. I've seen quite a few Finecast models snap after being bumped at the wrong angle, but I've never seen one melt.

Meh. Ultras, RG, Fists, and White Scars rock. We're just sort of there with all our cool unique stuff lost to the ages and buffs to anti-fluffy units.

(Until you get to 30k, where we win generic-character duels pretty hard with non-unique Eternal Warrior kit and Storm Shields before anyone else (except Imperial Fists, and Terminators-only for them).)

I've had all sorts of models melt in the summertime.

Bases have warped, finecast has melted, not into a puddle or anything, but it is pretty bad.

I've never had Finecast actually melt into a goo puddle, but I have had it start to run and sag. Three of my Tau Commanders are stuck doing the Chicken Limbo. I've fixed two by bunging them onto a flying stand, but the third is still farkled.

My rangers and banshees both have "melted". I should clarify though, not a pile of goo, but my rangers' nickname is the "limp D*** rangers" for a reason, and the banshees took ages to even half fix.. They kinda, soften? I guess, and after they cool off they get even more fragile....

On topic, most people seem to expect the eldar bikes now. In my meta there aren't any flyers, so, depending on who you play it wont be the bikes that irritate them

Eldar are hated but Tau are downright loathed to the point people might not even talk to you and you MAY get kicked out of a store for mentioning them. This is more or less the reason why I don't associate with 40k players of any kind in real life anymore. They all seem to have a ton of issues around here and take it out on anyone they can. Actually the gaming scene was quite lively here and then in the past 6 months to a 1 year its starting to die out like wildfire now. Given how I've been treated by people in the community and how dangerous some of them are I'm not surprised. Even met an actual sociopath who was a real creeper but you can find that story in the worse gaming community/40k experiences thread from awhile back if you want to know.

Even though they aren't all that strong anymore because of massive power creep. They are still a solid B+ army but there is a lot more fearsome stuff around like Space Marine Deathstars, Eldar, Genestealer Cults, and Chaos Deamon armies.

There is still a big psychological difference between losing in melee compared to being shot off the table from across the board.

Thanks for telling me to feth off. The Tau are maddening to face, and many lists, including my own, fare better against the other stuff you listed. The Riptide is blatantly unfair, as are the intercepting marker lights.

Emphasis mine.

Never come to my store and play. Like, ever.

Seriously. Go find some other game. Leave the hobby and stop posting here. It's obvious you suck, and suck at the game, so just do us all a favor and fething leave already.

Also, stop giving southerners a bad name by associating your blithering with the Confederate Battle Standard. Quit being such a gargantuan donkey cave.

P.S. To the OP: Just try to have fun with it and do your best to try to build lists that, were you to face them yourself, you would have a good time and a challenging fight. My .02 cents.

In most online forums and communities it's a dry hate among fans who like different aspects of their fandom or even a friendly rivalry.

In the 40k community people get deep seated emotional issues and hatred so deep it stays with them for their entire fething lives... over some plastic miniatures! Toys mother fethers! Toys! It's silly as feth hobby and you don't need to keep a real life book of grudges for every slight because it will soon weigh down your soul until that's all your life is about.

People put in a lot of money, and more importantly, time into painting their stuff and getting it ready to go. As well as terrain, etc. The letdown in getting your face pounded in a lopsided manner should be expected to get some negative reactions. And Tau are the worst seal-clubbers in the game almost.

I guess it's all about attitude. I didn't make the slow hard climb to diamond overwatch player by giving up. I had to work so fething hard and lose, lose, lose, and lose some more. All my friends made it and I couldn't do it as they ascended past me. I got so angry and tried so hard (lol).

Then I had a breakthrough and it was magnificent. I stopped caring about my rank and just started playing better and better. I may look really good at everything I do, but I work hard at it and never stop working to the day I die. Sadly most people give up somewhere along the way and just settle. When I do lose in anything its a leaning experience to do better next time.

I think the story of 30K is incredibly dumb, though. And marines vs marines is a very boring matchup. GW just can't and/or won't do math.
