I've got 4 players running Death Guard, 1 Running Alpha Legion, 1 Running Night Lords and I switch between WE and IW. Maybe it's just because I've seen chaos Marines painted pretty much every color of the rainbow that are supposed to be "Death Guard", but I think between the FNP with rerolls, T5-7 everywhere, havocs walking around hipshooting lascannons and the new powers the design team went a little to far with nurgle. Maybe I'm just irritated because I've seen regular CSM eat powerfists to the face like it's nothing more times than I can count, but goddammit that T5 FNP reroll is annoying. Add to that a T7 DP turning bloodthirsters into vindicator faughter with cloud of flies with the FNP BS.... I dunno, considering what other BS is out there I can't say they're OP, but after a while you can definitely see which of the legions is the "teachers pet".

As much as I wanted legions to finally get a fraction of the attention the loyalists get, I knew exactly how it would look. Nurgle has always been the creators pet, not sure why though he's easily the least interesting of the 4. The silver lining here is that at least one of the legions is `good` enough that there will be a demand for my CSM on the 2nd hand market when I get home next month.

t7 dp?

From the top of my head it's only possible if you get him buffed with the curse of leppers +1T and heretech +1 T. It's no different from ay other DP.

They do get free fnp. Still t5, so any warboss could lay one to rest.

Not sure what legion he was playing but a mate of mine had a winged demon prince with a 2+ armour and a 2+ cover when it jinked, rerolling 1s and T8 I think using iron arm. I think it was getting stealth from something and +1 cover from something else.

I love that traitor legions are getting upgrades, its awesome.

However, deathguard might be a bit too much, I haven't gotten to fight them yet, however, I am worried how my DE will fair, no matter how much poison and s8 I have, I feel that I will just get destroyed when I try to do anything. But we will see, who am I to complain?

Death Guard can compete in friendly games now, instead of paying outrageous prices for Plague Marines.

I still don't think they will win tourneys, but they can hold out now against the ridiculous firepower some armies can bring.

Almost certainly a Night Lords Tzeentch Prince with the relic armour.

Pretty much this. You're almost always outnumbered with Death Guard and all the buffs just don't compare to how underpointed the Tau power units are or indeed the 'free points' in upgrades for the Ad-Mech Convocation or the Gladius' free ObSec transports.

Really, Death Guard are now stronger in friendly games, making those more feasible but Traitor Legions still struggles against the current meta spam.

I placed 7th out of 16 this weekend...won 2, conceded 1 - the victories were pure Ad Mech War Convocation and Tau suit spam, the conceded defeat was a min-maxed War Convocation that used the points saved on all those 'free upgrades' to tack on Coteaz and a Culexus.

The World Eater army placed 2nd - but didn't face a single War Convocation army the entire tournament, whereas I was unlucky enough to have to deal with 2 of the fething things. If it had I suspect it wouldn't have done as well. Even then it wasn't 'pure' World Eaters - running a KDK Fist of Khorne from Blood Oath which did most of the damage with their immediate assault capabilities.

TLDR - Traitor Legions fixes a lot, but not to a competitive level for the most part (you get some tricks per Legion but that's all it is - gimmicks and tricks, nothing comparable to the reliability the Holy Trinity of BS gets).

(Also, Culexus assassins are bullgak for their points.)

Depends on what you are running really.

If Warrior heavy you're going to get heaps of wounds on them and outnumber them horribly. You can literally drown them in fire at that rate.

FYI - S8 is meaningless. You need S10 to deny FNP for most of the army.

Now only a CSM player.

Deathguard are kinda like necron warriors. They are decently survivable but don't do much damage.
Not bad for scoring but you still need to kill stuff sometimes.

I need advice. If these new rules boost interest and sales in CSM.
Is now the best time to sell my CSM collection?

There is more demand right. But is there also even more supply kf used CSM armies that no one wants?

if you want to sell, it's the best time. A couple more overpowered releases for other factions and the interest for csm will die out. Eldar are on the line, so time's running short. Although, we have absolutely no idea how csm would fare in age of the emps.

I'm going to have to disagree here. Necrons can deal out a crap load of damage especially since they got their junking full BS ghost arks back. Sure most of its close range or CC, but 4+ RP rerolling 1s will absolutely get them there.

Same goes for the Death Guard bit. 17 points for a T5, 3+, 5+++ with fearless and relentless is a crazy good deal

I think the issue is that Death Guard are like Necrons, just without all the advanced weapons and support.

Fielding lost and damned with zealot marines and having fun! 80 returning cultists even the Tyranids are scared!
Run a CAD of IW for obliterator troops small game.
Best combo: renegades and heretics + IW detachment with Sorcerers and Obliterators.

We had before that a Occasional IW/Crons player, who for years played full IW, then switched to Crons in 4th, and now plays primarly Crons with IW allies when he need the extra points to play at 2000+pts

For now he asn't gone back to full Chaos.

We had a guy wich have a HUGE collection of DA's, IG's, Sistas and Chaos.

While for years i din't see him play chaos, since Traitors Hate release he started a Black Legion force with Arhiman and Rubrics in it.

Now he Plays sometimes full Tsons with Magnus.

We have a long time DG player, he plays occasionally, dunno if he's using any of the new stuff in Legions.

A guy who played Eldar and Salamenders for years suddenly decided that Eldars sucks anyway, about a few months ago, and started to collect for a KDK force, and is also interested in Legions.

We have another guy who's kinda a "Flavor of the month army", i mean he's had Tyranids for years, but then switched once to GK's, then KDK, then Genstealer cults, DE and now is building an EC force with the Kakophoni detachement.

He usually does a 2000pts army of whatever he's into for the moment, play it for a while and either shelve it or sell it and rince&repeat.

We have a guy that in my whole gaming life, i never saw play a game once, but he collects CSM and has a huge force.

He doesn't play by lack of time mostly, but he's a nice block, very Fluff-lover.

We have a guy, that when he comes to play, suddenly everyone as something else to do, because he's a PitA to play with, he plays Tsons, with Tz Daemons and some ridiculous tuff that are mostly homemade, and i kid you not, he plays a FW Greater Brass Scorpion of Khorne, in his Tz army, and he painted it blue and houseruled that this thing is possesded by a Daemon of T instead of K...

he's not a bad guy, byt most of the time what he does doesn't make much sense, he constantly forgets who's did launch what power and wih one of them has that power and at the end of the game none of the powers he's casting matches what he rolled at the start of the game...

Been at least 7 months that i din't see him.

Then there's me, Playing World Eaters since the Jervis Codex...

Never changed, used my models for KDK when it was released, since it was the closest we had to a "WE dex", switched back to CSM with Butcherhorde Detachement.

While i do miss the "army-wide FnP" and i really like the Blood Tith mechanic, the Blood frenzt is funny.

Problem with that is, that once someone's played you, next time they know to just back up their models against the border of the table and just wait for you to come.

The Blood frenzy is a thing that works one time Vs a player if he's not to dense or stupid.

So for now i still will play it, but chances are that i will eventually switch back to KDK, Blood tithe gives more on the long run through out the entire game, while Blood frenzy is a One time trick.
