Thanks for the support

Forgot to add the Terminators to the point total.. so closer to 3000 i'm guessing at this point.

I do love me some big battles.

Well, I didn't notice this come up. I'll be sure to follow a bit more closely!

I love the colour scheme, and the white looks fine to me. Although, using grey and highlighting white is the tried and true method, just make sure not to make it too grey. It definitely shows, partly the reason I don't like GW greys that much (I feel they aren't close enough to white itself, and they do look obviously grey).

They look white. though I'm not fond of the WE pre-heresy look .. it's what he wanted.
Got the Apoth's ordered..they should arrive just in time to quickly paint.

Also ordered the age of darkness army book .. need to have a book with all the units in it. Too much flipping through all the other books looking for info.

Ah, I worded myself wrongly. I meant to say it definitely shows if you do it wrong, which you haven't. Sorry for the confusion!

No worries.. I accept all critique.and feel free to comment if i mess it up I have little ego. No, I took it as comment, so all good.

Was thinking about adding another 5 man Dev.. maybe 5 HB's.. Since all the vehicles seem to have the LC ratio down. Thoughts on something better?

Weekend Progress.. Camera shots

Completed WE Spartan

Finished 25 Infantry.. including 2 Sargent’s and the Praetor In Normal Armor.

Also the Siege dread with 2 MG power claws ( Seen In background )

So.. I need another good chunk of time to get the remaining inf done. 18 Chainaxer’s, 2 Sargent’s, Standatd bearer and an additional Praetor. Then 5 ML, 5 MG, 5 Snipers and 5 Vokite guys to finish.

4 Vehicles also remain. Landspeeder with LC and the Anvillus Drop pod. Lastly 2 Land raiders.

All the troops will need to have the transfers added and if time some sponge weathering… 4 Weeks left to go.

Need to figure out the points for this sometime and a way to transport it

Thanks WBD, The white is not as bright as the pictures suggest. It's been fun trying to figure out how to paint something new.

Daunting to think I have 43 Infantry figures just to finish what I have.

Thanks EDC.

Sorry the photos are not that great. I'm too focus'd on getting them done. I'll take some better pic's with the real camera when I get them all done. They look great in person and look even better on the table top.

Not envying you one bit here, painting 43 white figs does not sound like fun. Once you do them though, I bet it will be damn satisfying. Painting a white army is on the list of things to do for me just for the difficulty aspect, though that time isn't going to be for a while .

I'm hoping it goes quicker now that I have the process down.

I still have to find time to gather all my stuff for Adepticon (Armies, Terrain, Titan and Knights) and find a way to box them up for transport. Write some lists and gather up all the books and codex's. All work and not enough play.

The stuff I have painted now will make a suitable army by itself, so Gunther will have enough to join in as he wants. The extra will just give him more options and opportunities to do bigger battles. Not out of time yet!

Wow SL, your work on the WE are fantastic. Well Done, crisp blues and I like the bronze accents on the vehicles. He'll have a sharp looking force to say the least!

Thanks Master A. I admit they look pretty good with all those Chainaxes. I'm hoping to get another 25 or so done this weekend.

FW drop.. got the Age of Darkness Legion Astartes book ( the one with the skull on it ). Finally all the basic units in a single book. This will make it so much easier to build the list.

How to be productive 101 right here folks. Would you say you're a fast painter? It'll be interesting to hear your answer.

As for the painting, the weathering on the speeder is great. If there is one thing worse than painting white, it would have to be weathering the colour without making it look brown. Tremendous stuff Solar.

Good Lord SL... you're approaching Nerdfest levels of production! The army looks great! I'm sure our mutual friend will be ecstatic.

WBD.. I don't consider myself fast,, understand I paint pretty much tabletop only. Thing that help'd me push out these guys was I took more of a assembly line approach. All the common things like assembly, priming and basecoats were all done together.
I used several new techniques that speed this along. A wash with a medium so it flowed into the seems better and pretty simple blue and blue highlight that was straight from the paint pot.
This provides a natural weathering that gives the figure some built in forgiveness. Once I got the steps down it's a matter of time only. The weekend is about the only time I have so I take advantage of the full day if possible.
Lastly.. I have Adepticon as a deadline so it has to get done. Deadline, Deadline, Dreadline...

MasterA.... Thanks. though it pretty much the standard Highlight up effect most folks use on their Plasma weapons. I prefer the metallic blue (on my Las cannons ) but I wanted something to stand out from the other weapons. My friend ( who this army is for ) hasn't gotten many 40k games ( much less any 30k) in so this will help him identify what is what. Loyalist Legionaries World Eaters non the less!

Git.. in Quantity, not quality, after all there can be only one Nerdfest...Still I think these look great and will be fun to see all on the tabletop.

WBD?

What kind of medium are you using with your washes to make them perform better?

Just the GW Lahmain Medium + Nuln Oil.

Earthshade I assume would work as well if you wanted a softer tone.

I have a lot of transfers to do so hopefully I get the technique down and it goes fairly quick.

At the end (if time permits ). I'm going to try some technical paints for the bases. I want to give the figures to be walking on the scorched earth after the fire bombing. So black and grays withe some red/yellow embers.

No progress. Did drop some money on some cases for this army and the Reaver and Knights I'll be bringing. Hopefully I've judged the sizes correctly as I'll get little opportunity to order again in time.

23 days and counting

Weekend coming up. Plan to finish up the Infantry and Anvillus Drop pod. Then I have decided to add some normal Drop Pods to this list as well, so build and Prime are on the docket.

Eventually I have to do the 2 Land raiders. I have 2 RT ones and 2 FW ones. What ones I do will depend on how much time I have left.

Mini cases came in today, so I'll have to see what I can fit in them. Got HH book 7 to go through as well.

Update on Monday!

Not as productive as last weekend. Lost a day painting for Wife's projects.

Finished up the Anvillus Drop Pod. I've determined that this is probably a model that needs to be painted in stages. It was very difficult to get to some areas on the model assembled especially with the multicolored paint scheme of the Pre HH WE.
Finished a Normal drop pod, a Rhino and about 80% of the last 10 man Tactical squad, Praetor and standard bearer. Finished assembling the Land Raider and tried to prime but the humidity was off and the paint pooled, so some clean up will have to happen. WIll get some pics tonight.

With the time left I decided to finalize what I can get done before Adepticon. Here is the final List for ChaplainGunthers Loyalist World Eaters..

10 Terminators  4xChainFists, 4xLightning Claws, 1 reaper Auto Cannon
1 Praetor in Power armor w/PF & PS
1 Praetor in Power armor w/Arctech pistol & PS
1 Standard Bearer
2 Apothecary's
12 Man Tactical's with Chainaxes, Sargent w/2H Chainsword
12 Man Tactical's with Chainaxes, Sargent w/PF
1 10 Man Tactical squad with Chainaxes, Sargent w/PF
1 10 Man Tactical squad with Chainaxes, Sargent w/PF*
5 Man Support squad with Volkite
5 Man Support squad with Meltaguns
5 Man recon squad with Sniper rifles
5 Man Heavy support with Missile Launchers
3 Man Jetbike squad with 1 Heavy Plasma
1 Landspeeder with Las-Cannon
1 Contemptor with Multimelta or AC
1 Siege Dread with 2x CCW with Meltaguns
1 Spartan Land Raider
1 Rhino
1 Drop Pod
1 Anvillus Drop Pod
1 Land Raider*

Not sure how many points this comes out to. Not to mention any added Wargear that can be added.

Camera battery won’t hold a charge. Not sure if it’s the charger or the battery. I’ll need to resolve this prior to Adepticon.
So Phone pics is all I got…

Anvillus Drop pod, Normal Drop Pod and Rhino

Finished the last 10 man Tactical Squad. Here are all 4 finished squads.

Better pic of the support ( & ML Squad )

Other WE Elements

Close up of the Praetor and Apothecaries.

Complete Army to date. All that’s missing is a Land Raider.

Hopefully I get a good weekend in and finish the Land Raider, 2nd Praetor and Standard Bearer, so I can move on the Transfers and basing. I need the following weekend to work on my Other armies, Packing and list building so I’m not doing it last minute.

Thanks for tuning in.
