Subject: HH Loyalist World Eaters Project - COMPLETE
World Eaters. This is a short term project I'm doing for a good friend of mine. He's the original person that first got me into 40K oh so many years ago. Rogue Trader days in fact.
Since he's a good guy, and our group was all getting into the 30K arena and he's not much into painting. I'd thought I'd put together a HH army for him. Since I was still collecting models and figures for my Alpha Legion Army, I thought I'd just start throwing in some additional stuff and slowly put together his Army.
The Burning of Prospero was a good start. Since I wanted the look to be different than My MKIV armor that my Alpha legion was themed. MKIII was perfect. With that I got Terminators and as whole slew of inf. I added some FW sets as well.
Here is where I ended up.
10 Tartaros Terminators ; Sgt with PP. 1 Terminator Praetor in Cataphractii armor armed with Volkite
40 Marines with bolters and Chainaxes
2 Praetor's in MKIII Armor
5 Marines with ML 5 Marines with Volkite
5 Marines with Melta guns
5 Marines with ?
3 Jetbikes ( 2 HB , 1 Heavy Plasma )
1 Land Speeder with LC & HB 1 Seige Dread with 2 Claws ( MG )
1 Contemptor with PF and either AC or MM Standard Drop Pod
On the Way
1 Spartan Tank
2 LR Proteus ( old Original LR's )
1 Anvillius Drop Pod
Need to get
Apothacary's ( 3?)
So far I'm working on the build. Have most of the Infantry completed with the exception of all the chainaxes. I'm waiting for some kits to finish.
have primed the majority you see in the above picture and started on getting the base coats on.

Good start SL... Should be plenty for him there. Do you want a set of the cataphractii terminators? They're not very EC and I'll probably never use them. Be happy to donate them to the cause.
Anvildude: "Honestly, it's kinda refreshing to see an Ork vehicle that doesn't look like a rainbow threw up on it."
Sure.. Still waiting for some time to get back in to the shop. Cold weather coming again and it;s difficult to get the shop warm enough to work for a couple of hrs.
Got some weapon sets yesterday. so I'll hopefully be able to get the remaining 20 Chainaxe guys done. Still waiting on my vehicles.

While I'm waiting I did some base coating over the weekend.
The blue will be a bit darker..
Next step is to wash the white armor and start adding some golds. You can see the start of metals on the Terminator Praetor.

Thanks all.. I'm hoping i can get some weekend time to push this out. Adepticon is close.. Month and a half. Working 60+ hrs a week and driving 10hrs a week gives me little time ( or Life )
I'm hoping he likes what I've done. Next year for Adepticon I hope to have enough Alpha legion of my own to participate in the HH tourney and at least beat up on these World Eaters.
Quick Camera shots of where the weekend progress left off…Sorry for the blurry pics.
WE Cptn.. Need just to finish his PS WE Terminators
Contemptor Dread
Jet Bikes
Next wave…
I Have to start on the'Troops' (50 guys) soon as they are the backbone of this army.
Also finished building the Anvillius Drop pod. It was a confusing kit and one that you have to be very precise when building or you can't get all the doors and struts to work. Pic's tomorrow.

Git - it's a transport bud and has some pretty decent rules.
For its cost it's pretty decent and can be used to annoy people, forcing them to shoot at it rather than something more valuable.
OP - the speed your churning out white is just silly lol.
Amazing work so far and I'll be following this one.

That's a good explanation.. Flying Rhino.

Thanks Jackel, Actually these are a very white Grey, I'm trying a new technique as to give them a bit more grimey look. If I have time I'll go back an attempt to sponge some weathering on them; another technique I need to learn.
As for speed I'm doing these mass production. All Build, all Prime, all base coat. From there I do a squad at a time.
At the end I'll do a fine gravel base in black with various grey dry-brushing representing Isstvan III after the fire bombing. hopefully it looks very ash like.
Lastly I purchased the WE transfers to give them their legion identification.

Me too. I have Some Eldar in white .. I have not developed a good technique to shade white yet. Maybe it's the painter?

I'm looking forward to the weekend when I'll will attempt to finish up all the remaining Chainaxe builds. I'm guessing I have about 25 more to finish. then start on with a squad at a time. In between I'll prime and base coat the Anvillus DP and the 2 Land Raiders. This way I can start planning a common theme for all the vehicles.
It's my (albeit limited) understanding that when painting white the main color is a light grey, and you use white for the highlight.
yeah.. Good video. I think it's easier to do ' white ' on marines than Eldar. The standard plate are expected to have more defined contrast. Where as the Eldar models are more round or curved. They need to have a smoother definition. I've see it done well , just have not been able to re-create it.

Yep, definitely a ' just push through' effort. I'm also going to do up some Unit cards and put them in a book of sorts so he can have easy access to information about the units in his army and should make it easier to pick out points for games.

If you are still struggling with getting a flat white have you considered sponge weathering or pigments? It'll add a lot of character and hide any minor blemishes.

For these Marines.. absolutely. Blood as well ( tastefully ) Though this will only happen if I have time before Adepticon. Otherwise it's as is.
Will have to form these into some semblance of a list. I sure I have all the components. Just need to see where all the points fall.
Managed to finish building the remaining Tactical Marines. Official Count now stands at 40. All Chainaxe and boltguns. I also built 5 Sergeants with various loadouts. My favorite is the two-handed chainsword guy. This should bring my total up to 45. Primed and Basecoating for all these complete. For such a large force I decided to add a standard bearer. Now I’m only missing the necessary Apothecaries.
Built a 5 man Recon Squad with sniper rifles. Finished Priming and bascoating the forementioned along with the 5 man ML, 5 man Volkite and 5 man Melta squads.
Now starting on all the black work. Doing a Squad at a time then do a bit on the vehicles and repeat to keep from going insane. I wanted to do a spot of blue to see how it would look on the larger vehicles, so I did a top armor plate of the Spartan.
Not sure how I’ll do the blue on the sides yet. Most of the FW books show a diagonal stipe fore and aft. Not sure I’ll go with that or block out armored sections.
Decided to repaint my Rouge trader LR in WE colors rather than build the new ones in order to save time. They need some work and new LC mounts. Hope this is a wise decision.
ps.. the marines are a white grey. They match the Spartans sides but not the main body which is just primed white.
